That Shane segment was both hard to watch and entertaining imo. Great improvising by all involved and I have a lot of respect for Miz putting over so many people over those 2 days.

Dusty wasn’t having the bullshit😂
Honestly, given that Snoop wasn’t expected to do anything physical, he could’ve done a whole hell of a lot worse. That elbow was cleaner than some I’ve seen from managers or valets who were asked to get physical in a match.
@Somnogenesis

Oh hell yes, this. I genuinely wasn't quite sure if Shane had really been hurt or not, given the way Snoop took over the segment so seamlessly. He took the instruction from the cameraman (which I'd never have spotted without this video!) and instantly laid in a worked punch that looked better than Shane's do, for starters. And equally he didn't bat an eyelid when the ref told him to hit that People's Elbow. I mean, hats off to the man, he's clearly a genuine fan because he knew precisely what to do at every stage. The way he kicked Miz's arms out of the way so he could run the ropes, exactly like the Rock always did in preparation for the People's Elbow, had me in stitches. And then he carried on with a perfectly judged comedy bit with pretending to look for his armband to tear off and settling on his sunglasses, then actually (sort of) running the ropes before hitting what was a genuinely pretty good-looking elbow drop. Of course, it helps that he's totally used to live performance and the business of at least semi-improvising in front of a big crowd. And of course Miz sold the whole thing like a champ. So all things considered they all did brilliantly between them to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear out there.

Bubba and Jericho are true professionals who care about their opponents and know if something isn’t right, to be sure their opponent gets the medical help they need, even if it meant to cutting the match short. Case in point: When Neville fractured his left ankle in a match against Jericho, Jericho instantly knew he was hurt and tried to get the ref to end the match. And he improvised the finish by pushing the ref, and getting DQ’d. And he was a heel, so while Neville was being attended to, he berated the fans to keep their focus on him. That’s the kind of wrestler most wrestlers want to work with.
Another time Jericho had to improvise on the fly was when he had a match vs Neville in 2016 on Raw. Neville had hurt his ankle so Jericho had to improvise and rolled up Neville for the win to end the match quicker but the ref wasn't on board. So Jericho just shoved the ref to get dq.

I’m glad Dusty went off script both times, it was so annoying watching Steph talk down to literally everyone without really any kind clap back afterwards. Yeah I know, that was the way to help her get heat with the crowd, but it gets old watching no one really tell her off aside from the occasional rib at her expense like in the attitude era.

I miss the old days of promos being off the cuff and the wrestlers being given general instructions on the story angle. Many of the men and women can make up some solid stuff on the fly. HHH and The Rock and Stone Cold had some of the greatest one liners and clap backs ever. Booker T and the NWO on WCW had excellent promos as well. That used to be the mark of who would become the next big push: who could win the crowd the best with their acting.

Stephanie: "we're not giving Dusty speaking roles because he goes against our scripting policy." Reality: she was upset her power trip making her feel above the entire roster finally got challenged & one of them actually told her off. Look at all the people who are praised by the company for going off script & making the segment better (Cena calling out Rock & Roman, Reigns's "missionary position" comment). And you can't argue that him standing up for himself wasn't way better than her berating a legend to tears with no consequences would've been. They just didn't like that it came at one of their expense.

That's every supervisor I've had in the last three years. Lol.
Another good one was WCW Superbrawl 1998, where Booker T. and Saturn had to wrestle a match on the fly. (Saturn was to immediately face the winner of Booker T. vs. Rick Martel. Martel was supposed to win, but got injured in the match, so the finish to this was improvised as well.)
WOW ! Kudos to both Jericho and Shelton ! Not many could pull that off so smooth nowadays unfortunately . So many are used to pre planning damn near every move and spot now . And to me that takes away from what makes wrestling special as an art . Because THAT takes real talent .
Bubba Ray is one of the Most Consistently Talented Wrestler of all times. He's straight up Never had a bad match

Tell him that, he talks about having bad matches all the time 😂 by the way BULLY Ray still wrestles. There's still time for MANY bad matches.
Another example would be a match on Raw between Jericho and Neville. Neville had broken his ankle and shin bone doing a baseball slide and Jericho had to improvise the finish. The referee didn’t know Neville was hurt and didn’t count to 3. This then led to a altercation between the ref and Jericho on TV.
That Shane segment was extremely hard to watch .

Man, I miss Dusty. Love his off the cuff style. Although I get that the idea was to make Steph/HHH seem untouchable, I actually thing this would have been great had it continued. Dusty was just giving the fans what we all wanted. To be honest, we all know they wouldn't have said much if Stone Cold/The Rock had done something like that cuz to be honest, they didn't have that kinda control over them and they always draw huge crowds.

I thought all the refs had ear pieces. So the "People's elbow" to Snoop was probably from Triple H or who ever was in charge that night.

Exactly, either H or Vince gave the prompt through her earpiece, or Shane or Miz called the audible there. I highly doubt a ref would have made a call like that.

Anytime I hear the word "intercontinental" my brain hears it in Randy Savage voice.

Great job , Big Dust 🤠
What a terrible time for Michael Cole to yell, "Shane's still got it."
Snoop and that ref improvised better than half the roster.
I worked as a ref in the indys. The primary job of the ref is to monitor the crowd....both for crowd reactions and for fans trying to get into the ring (ref has the honor of taking the first shot at trespassers) and to call spots in case of botchces (including "gimmick" fails like "foreign objects") as well as making calls "on the fly" in case of injury. I called spots and went home several times....botched gimmicks, botched finishes, missed cues, broken rings (ropes and boards) and injuries. The hardest call is when one of the workers has been concussed and has no idea where they are or what they are doing....and that is especially true with inexperienced undercard workers. One of the veterans that was absolutely the best at dealing with "oops" moments is Ricky Morton of Rock N Roll Express. Being a ref with experienced workers in the ring is usually a breeze.
Shane O done got old. It happens to everyone. I laughed when his old man tore his quads trying to slide into the ring LOL
04:38 *IT'S MA'AM!*
8:40 - Ironically, there was supposed to be a Saturday Night's Main Event title match where the Hart Foundation was going to lose to The Rockers and the Rockers were to win the tag titles, but the ring ropes broke, they had a shitty match and the title change was nullified and the match never officially aired despite clearly having footage of it.
@Somnogenesis
Жыл бұрын
I only discovered just a week or two back that the entire match footage is out there, and watched it for the first time ever. It's really not a bad match all things considered: despite the circumstances it didn't look nearly as awkward as I'd been led to expect from all I'd heard over the years. It's a shame in a way that the WWF didn't acknowledge the title change as planned.
Booker-Dust was the best combo of personalities in the history of the WWF. Such an unlikely duo, but they killed it. I don't remember actually seeing them Tag Team, but their comedy bits were legendary.

"New Year's Revolution 2005" Watching that show live... and the first 2 matches have a worker go down with bad knee injuries. It was like: "Jesus.... the ghost of Brody is doing it's work tonight...."
I was more of an Atomic leg drop guy than a peoples Elbow, but I'd still love to see that fight with Snoop :'D The leg drop was my go to move for drunken wrestling matches. I did a lot of Judo as a kid though, so I had throws and Holds down by the time I was like 8. No one wanted to wrestle me, hahaha.

That Angle/Holly match went of forever after his arm got broken. Angle was pulling on Holly's arm to send him into the ropes. Thats the only one i ever saw on TV where i knew something happened.
My Grandad's on both sides were Olympic Wrestlers in the Military, so I was inducted into Wrestling from a very early age. I remember sitting in the Armchair with my Grandad, watching Andre the Giant Vs. Hulk Hogan, and I asked my Grandad "Can I be a Wrestler, too?" and he told me only if I ate my Vegetables and Fruit, and his secret "Burned Toast" LoL, The Dude had me eating burned toast as I wanted to be like Hulk Hogan... I'm sure burned toast doesn't help, but sure he got a laugh out of it. My step Fathers Dad also did some Wrestling, but he was a Navy, Boxing Champion. It's crazy when you look back to this generation of Men, they were all in some form of Military and all did some kind of Combat sports. Oh how things have changed. My Mothers Father was in the Airforce during the 2nd World War. His Eldest Daughter (he had no Son's) even followed in his footsteps... she even met her Husband during the Falklands war. My Mothers family moved a lot though due to my Grandad being in the Airforce, She pretty much grew up in Germany (although we're from the UK) as my Grandad was stationed there in the 60's.
4:17 too funny that Shelton win without a scripted match and they improvised on a ring I love that
You forget Jericho vs Neville
Good thing Snoop knew how to do the peoples elbow
Bro... Chris Jericho deserves more respect. Imagine that you are the champion and you have to improvise an entire match and you decide to give a victory to a rising talent like Shelton Benjamin. And yeah, Shelton was criminally underrated in WWE.
Ref went hard for Miz and Snoop.
"OH, SHANE'S STILL GOT IT! ...nope"
4:52 note Lugers hand positioning...Even Andre the Giant would make that work.
what's the song in the intro ? I remember that one from long time ago
That Daniel Puder incident proves how ignorant he was to the business. He tried to selfishly put himself over, instead of doing his job making sure Kurt Angle was safe and just put him over. That's one of the main reasons Puder got the shit beat out of him in the Royal Rumble and why The Miz got hired after losing the competition because he proved he had an understanding for the business by not sand bagging Big Show when he got bodyslammed while all the other guys tried to make it difficult for Big Show.
I expect Snoop Dogg to do the people's Blunt and not the people's elbow!
Luger's head must have felt like it was going to explode lifting that much weight.
Yo do like roids attack the quads cuz it seems like that's the most common injury for a wrestler and they always do it with lil to no contact
Mickey James is soo underrated 👀

Meh. She didn't get chewed for the botches, she got chewed for how she handled them. You don't just break character that easily.
It wasn't WWE, but Sting vs Jeff Hardy at TNA Victory Road 2011. Jeff was drunk and high as a kite and was in no shape to perform whatsoever. So after a few minutes of Jeff stumbling around and making a complete ass of himself, the match officially started and the ref just told Sting to pin him immediately so they could get him out of there. So Sting did just that. The bell rang and he just took Jeff to the mat and legitimately pinned him. You could even see Jeff attempt to kick out, but Sting held him down and the ref quick counted to end the whole debacle.
Number 11. Kane & Lance Storm at NWO 2003 when Kane body slammed Regal and knocked him out and Lance and Kane had to improvise a pin break up

No. Regal knocked Regal out. But they did good on improv.
Jericho had no luck with broken ropes.
Improv is one of the best parts of wrestling
The Shane botch was confusing. Everyone in attendance had no idea if it was part of the plan or not. In the end though it made for a great segment
Might just be me, but I don't know of too many female refs that aren't gimmick ones. I'd like to see a list of the best female refs. Or maybe most notable matches with them in general.
Crazy how Vince and his Son both tore their quads in the ring I wonder if Vince Sr ever tore his quad in the ring?
Damn i thought Snoop improvised the whole thing. Either way though he did good
I don't blame Dusty one bit. Watching Stephanie talk down to everyone and emasculating a lot of men especially Jericho was hard to watch especially since they used to lay into her back in the day
The McMahon family has the worst quads in WWE History. The all men in the family (HHH included) have all torn their quads in the ring. I'm not making fun of their pain, but that's the worse coincidences ever.
Even though I love snoop It’s so bizarre news outlets are running with this story that it was snoops idea when it can clearly be seen and heard he was given a cue.
Stephanie consistently used her position to belittle talent. Power tripping the whole time.
everyone mad at snoop's elbow but you really think that frail man's trying to take a bump? Miz was probably happy to use him as a landing mat to save the segment, besides snoop probably weighs 130 pounds
Yea, Dusty is old school and does not like being treated that way.
It’s actually a misconception that the refs throw the X sign when something goes wrong. In reality they throw the X because they are DX fans
Showed Owen's botched piledriver and Austin going for the roll up after he was able to move. But you didn't talk about it.
Regarding the Snoop/Miz spot, would it be the ref improvising or the producers (Vince or HHH) passing the message on through the earpiece?
Did Lex Luger play with Big Shows little show while having him in the rack?
I loved shelton benjamin one
That Stefani shit was ridiculous she would just do it to be little then but if there is no match or anything just her slapping you kills a character quickly
How were they not prepared for Shelton Benjamin? He was hot at the time.
