    I'm pretty sure they aren't always wood. The ones in WWE (at least recently) don't break, they bend - they're probably thin aluminum like the trash cans. It also seems like when a ladder is set up for someone to go through it, it's never a ladder that someone had climbed previously. Maybe they have them in different materials for different spots, including real normal ladders for when the wrestlers are actually going to use them as ladders?

When I watched SmackDown during it's worst period from 2011 , you can literally tell the crowd is dead af , but for some reason there's the fake hairdryer noise each time , it was so obvious at that point. 😂 The sad thing is this proves WWE actually knows people are bored with their content , but they still continue to do it and put piped in crowd noise. 😂

    The thing with wrestlers watching the ref or having their eyes closed makes sense in storyline the same way them not kicking out when the ref is not around to count. They're still conscious and there's no point in kicking out early. Why wouldn't they relax and catch their breath for a little bit? If their eyes are closed and they are pinned, well, that makes sense because the character is "knocked out".

  • @tearitup5864

    @tearitup5864

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes you’re right but then it makes false finishes less exciting. In hotly contested matches, imma use Roman’s matches for example, there’s usually false finishes or scenarios when an opponent hits the wrestler with their finisher and the crowd thinks it’s over until the wrestler kicks out at the last possible second. The idea is that the finisher knocked them out but they managed to wake themselves back up and Will themselves into a kick out at the last possible moment, thus creating the false finish. Roman’s matches are known to have many false finishes. If Roman gets hit with a finisher and he has his eyes open the whole time, then it destroys the illusion of a false finish because the viewer knows he’ll kick out

    Eyes open isn't necessarily a kick out signal. It's the wrestler watching the ref's cadence. It's hard to trust it or assume without looking.

  • @BlackPawn14

    @BlackPawn14

    Жыл бұрын

    Pretty sure that's the reason why it might be considered a signal: - if the wrestler has to kick out, they'll probably want to keep track of the ref's cadence, to make sure they kick out at the right time, which they would do by looking at them. - If the wrestler doesn't need to kick out (because it's the match-ending spot), they no longer need to keep track of the ref, so they can just close their eyes or look away.

  • @ObviousBadnewz

    @ObviousBadnewz

    Жыл бұрын

    @BlackPawn14 What I'm saying is that it's talked about as if opening your eyes and staring at the ref is specifically intended to tell him NOT to count to three, which isn't the case. It may be a signal because looking at the guy looking at you count three may indicate he needs to kick out, but it's not some secret handshake of a signal between ref and talent that the video is making out.

  • @ajcf6gze38jvf

    @ajcf6gze38jvf

    Жыл бұрын

    Um, no... eyes open is 100% a signal to the ref that they're going for a near fall kickout so the ref knows to pull his 3 count last second.

But when John Cena talked about "Piped in Crowd Noise" in Austin Theory's matches, I laughed my ass off!! BTW "Kayfabe" is NOT Dead!!!" lol #WrestlingFlashback

    As a life long wwe fan, this is amazing information. Few things i already knew like the crash pads (i.e: jeff hardy swanton bomb from a very high place, or anyone else splashing down on someone.), blading was a known fact for me probably a few years ago, before that i legitimately thought they really busted themselves open. But the ref thing with the kickouts i never knew, i maybe realized other subtle signs of kicking out, like when the ref goes to count and ever so slightly touches the pinned wrestlers arm or hand to signify to kickout. With the mist spray, that was informative. Never knew that they take a capsule

    One time on WCW, it was either Duggan or maybe even Sandman. Someone charges into the ring with a large piece of wood, and they start swinging it around to clear the ring. Someone who was being swung at grabbed the wood and caught it, which quickly showed the "wood board" was closer to a nerf like material. 5:20 Depending on who's telling the story, either it was a gimmick pipe and Arn may have accidentally hit Nash too hard, or it was closer to a real pipe and Arn gave Nash the kind of receipt that got Nash to drop faster than he's ever moved in the ring before. 11:51 to be fair to Bischoff and Sting, Hardy showed up for the PPV either drunk or high or both. Either way he was in no condition to be in a ring, so they had to scramble to salvage the situation.

    I remember watching Heenan scream at Pillman. After he left the announce table, Heenan came back, put on his headset and apologized for cursing. You could tell from his voice that he was nervous and wanted to make things right with the bosses. As for the kickouts, a wrestler should know the ref's timing. Also, I had a theory that if the right leg was hooked, it wouldn't be a kickout. If the left leg was hooked, there'd be a kickout.

    @@marlondaniels7912I remember seeing in another video that the ladders are actually both. I believe they are aluminum with a wooden segment painted to match the rest of the ladder, which acts as the breaking point. You can actually see the painted break point at 4:19 if you pause

    Ladders are only spraypainted wood sometimes. They're usually plastic now in major promotions, but indie promotions usually use real metal ones.

    The chrome painted wooden ladders are very convincing had it not been for this video I would never have known. Also, the "hair dryer" pop is ingenious. Not knowing about it and then finding out and listening to it closely it 100% sonds like what it is meant to imitate.

    I believe they are actually aluminum with a wooden break point, not fully wood. At 4:19 you can see a painted, lighter gray spot in the middle of the ladder where it ends up snapping.

    I been noticed it was a sign that a wrestler is going to kick out by having their eyes open to watch the pin and when they’re going to lose due to their eyes being closed from The Rock being a dead giveaway

  • @whisperienced

    If they stopped trying to kick out at 2.99 every time they wouldn't need to look at the ref. It's not like people don't know by now what's a finish and what's not.

    Yeah, that Sting vs Jeff Hardy was crazy. Jeff was so fucked up (drugs and alcohol) that he couldn't even compete. They had this whole match planned, and Jeff fucked it all up, and they decided to just can it. Quick match, less than a minute.

    The first one on the list with the eyes is actually in the 2K games. Whoever plays 2K22 or 23 will notice when going for the pin, when your opponent is down with his/her eyes open they will kick out and if their eyes are closed, it's over 😎
