10 Winged Scapula Treatments - Ask Doctor Jo

Спорт

A winged scapula or scapular winging is when the shoulder blade (scapula) wings out from the ribcage (the side closest to the spine) due to weakness from muscles or nerve damage. These stretches & exercises should help. See more shoulder exercises here: • 7 Best Frozen Shoulder...
A winged scapula can cause issues with stability and overall function of the shoulder. Stretching and exercising muscles that attach to the scapula should help, especially the serratus anterior muscle.
Start with stretching: rhomboid stretches in long sitting, levator scapulae stretches, latissimus stretches, subscapularis stretches, pec/chest stretches will help loosen up the area to help with function.
Then, strengthening the muscles will help correct imbalances. Serratus punches, modified push up plus, bear hugs with a band, and serratus punches with band should help regain stability in the scapula.

Mam i think i have shoulder wingling and by now i think my rib of right side has proture front wards and there seems a asymmetry between the alingment of both the ribs and most of time it is also painful either. I feels my rib of right side is shrinking and my shoulder blade pops out. There is a lot of clicking sound at my shoulder ball movement. How shall i fix it and bring my shoulder and ribs to proper alingment and normal movements. Kindly help me out with few of your suggestions with regards to exersices and other measures i should seek

I’ve had a winged scapula for over a decade. I thought I took care of it on my own using only the door frame stretch and it wasn’t visibly noticeable anymore. However, one day I noticed a pause and a click in my shoulder while doing chest presses. I came across this video and realized a lot more muscles were involved. After multiple stretches a day for three days, I felt just a little more relief, but it still felt out of place. In the middle of the third day, I went to the chest stretch and felt my entire scapula slide back into place. Soreness came after that, especially the next day, and I’m working on strengthening and stretching more before even thinking about doing weights again. Thank you so much for this video!

Thank you so much for this video! I wish I had found it sooner. I work at home during the quarantine and I've been sitting in a chair that's not really that great and I noticed it when I type all day I tend to lean forward and round my shoulders out and at the end of the day there's just such pain in my shoulder blade and neck. I have been having my daughter just basically push really hard on her elbow and it's just been getting more and more painful. Then I watch videos that were like no it's supposed to be a little Bridge there that kind of feels like a knot but you shouldn't try to take that not out so I've been doing it all wrong and he stretches really help so thank you so much you're a lifesaver

As a student athlete and a full time cheerleader, I get a lot of knots from my shoulders because of the rigorous and demanding movements we do. This exercise HELPED ME A LOT and I feel 10X better now! I don't feel as stiff as i did and the pain was just relieved. Butbit also depends if you execute the exercises properly too.

The broom stick stretch (although I did it without the broom stick), combined with stretching my neck in the opposite direction to the shoulder being stretched, plus the rubber band bear hug completely removed my scapula stiffness over night - literally! Many thanks indeed. Now back to weight-lifting without any impingement!.

In quarantine and working at kitchen table - not ergonomic. Started having bad scapula pain - telemedicine and even a in person visit - muscle relaxers and meds - nothing helped. Desperate- I searched KZread and found this video. Stretch at 3:30 helped more than anything. Kept doing it. Few days later and I feel 95% better. THANK YOU.

Thank you for a clear, easy to understand set that incorporates the anatomy & physiology in an off-hand manner that sinks right into our confused brains. You have harnessed you intelligence to help your fellow humans. Bravo! As a kid, I thought my "wings" meant I was a hawk. As a person of "a certain age," I've had it up to here with rotator cuff tears.

@@user_6006 My scapula problem was in my left shoulder and it wasn't that flexible. In just 2 days, I saw that my left shoulder was the same flexibility as the other. This definitely works. I couldn't do it twice because of school, but it still worked. There is no possibility that it will not work, as there are stretching movements in general. If you're thinking of doing it, I think you should start right away. (By the way i wasn't doing the last one)
