Franklin Field is actually a legendary sports venue. Back in the day it was one of the most prestigious venues in college football and in the 1940s-50s IIRC it was the typical field for the Army-Navy game. The Philadelphia Eagles used it as their first venue as well. It's really sad to see how little attention that magnificent stadium gets today, Penn horrifically struggles to get several thousand fans in the stands for some of their games. It deserves so much better.

The sporatic orange seats that you see spread throughout most of the stadium are rented seat backs. The metal bleachers don't have seat backs. As a fundraiser, they rent out seat backs that fans can use for their assigned seats. At midfield on the lower level on the west side of the field (press box side) near wear the upper leval overhangs the lower, those are permenant orange plastic seats for season ticket holders. The upperdeck is very steep. In the early 1990's when the southend upperdeck corners were added, they were also hoping to do the same to the northend upper deck, with future hopes of enclosing the upper deck at both ends. However, the initial funds only allowed the southend corners to be built, then it was rumored that new regulations were enacted that prohibited future construction of the northend corners and to have the upper deck endzone completed due to the steepness of the areas. Therefore the southend seating, which started at field level rises about halfway up to the level of the upper deck, but it is not as steep to meet the new regulations. There used to be some archectual drawings showing the upper deck fully enclosed and looked like a large bowl and was really cool looking. But with the indoor practice field and new building at the northend of the field, the upper deck will never be completed as first drawn up.

1:35 I feel like the argument of EMU games looking weird on TV would be valid if people actually watched EMU games on TV. :D 9:10 There was some seating in that area but it got torn down a few years ago. Some honorable mentions I'd include: Colgate University's away seating is pretty oddly shaped, like a smaller version of Cornell's. I'm sure I'll get flak for saying this but I've always found LSU's stadium to be very weirdly cobbled together, like some architect just had a bunch of random pieces and kitbashed them together rather than coming up with a cohesive design. Especially if you look at overhead views where you can really see the different design styles for all of the various sections and how the various levels were added on over the years. Penn State- kinda the same story, especially with the massive gaps between the home and away stands and the end zone seating.

Yeah I don’t think they would ever make that jump. It might end up costing a lot of money and prestige. NDSU is well respected and even when I lived in SEC country I heard the same. A heads up from Maryland season ticket holder. If your team is playing MD, look for seating section 309-301, A-F and you’ll be fine. The upper portion of the deck mentioned starts with “G” (anything above that is nose-bleed). Also, if you sit in the “horse shoe” section of the stadium (student section is where the “M” is painted on the seats which I believe is section 305 or 306) you’ll be fine also.

Have you heard of the "Superior Dome" in Marquette MI? It's basically a high school field with bleachers, covered by a WOODEN DOME. The wood makes it very pretty on the inside but from the outside it looks like a giant igloo. Northern Michigan University is a div II school.

Schoelkopf Field at Cornell may be weird, but it isn't because of the main seating area. It looks totally normal to me. It's that way partially, I think, because it's on a sloping hill. What makes it weird is the lack of any seating on the other side. There used to be a grandstand on the other side, but that was torn down some years ago. It looks odd on TV because the 'C' at midfield is oriented for the spectators, but on TV it's upside-down.

It would seem like you’ve never been to the stadium in Boulder. It’s always hailed as one of the most beautiful stadiums in the country. It was the first stadium ever in the country with covered private seating in the mid-1960s. Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, the Dal Ward center is on the north end of the field. The facility on the north east corner of the stadium provides locker rooms and services for the players. The east suites are absolutely amazing. This post makes me take all of your other postings on KZread a lot less seriously. It’s apparent you just like to talk and not do the research the information seriously.

When Chris Creighton came in he wanted to change the culture. The overall theme he made was to resemble that of a factory, especially given that EMU is about a half hour from Detroit. All the coaches wear mechanic-style shirts, the team comes out from glass garage doors before games, and there's a giant wrench that someone must carry all game. When they needed new turf, the coach said "lets make it gray" to go further into the factory theme. The stadium is now dubbed, "the factory". You can argue it's gimmicky, but it's worked. Completely turned around the trajectory of the program and turned the perennial worst program in FBS into a respectable program

How handy for the Spartans to have a Walmart that close. Maybe Carl Sagan came up with the Cornell design.
Living in Fargo, the reason for the dome is because it gets very cold late in the season. It’s undeniably a major advantage for NDSU. Hopefully they move up to FBS soon.

It would be smarter for them to stay the biggest fish in a little pond. If they jump up to FBS, they'll never make a bowl game.

Yeah I don’t think they would ever make that jump. It might end up costing a lot of money and prestige. NDSU is well respected and even when I lived in SEC country I heard the same. They would never compete in a Power 5 conference. Maybe G5 but I don’t see the benefit of doing that. I’d love to go to a game there sometime it would be a ton of fun.
FragoDome lol. This cracks me up. Keep it in please.
Now I know that you haven't been to many of these places in person; Bill Snyder Family Stadium looks amazing in person. That limestone is really cool, and they used it with their Indoor Practice Facility. 2nd, it's the FARGO Dome, not the fragodome.
Penn is host of the Penn relays…one of the most famous track and field events around
Could you please ranking every college basketball arena please
Your caption is wrong. You're not rating the weirdest. You are telling us which stadium you like the least.
Woah be careful you’re gonna upset all the die-hard Colorado fans. They’ve been filling that Stadium since August.
Louisiana-Monroe's stadium was built on the edge of a swamp and they couldn't build a bowl. They have a 3 tier home side and a high school looking aluminum bleacher visitor side.
I would add Brooks Stadium (Coastal Carolina's stadium). I was watching a Coastal Carolina home game a couple weeks ago and I thought someone had screwed with the color settings on the TV, due to the teal turf.
have you ranked the mac stadiums?
Boise St’s field does that weird patchy, pixelated thing on tv, but it’s actually really cool in person.
Do college FCS stadiums next
Having Folsom on this list is an atrocity. And any flaws in the stadium are overshadowed by the amazing backdrop.
Maryland should just cut off both the upper decks and turn the new roof area into like a dining area to watch games from. Maybe some fun activities for kids like a mini field. Also we love our blue field and yeah the seating is awkward on the north end zone. I agree we don’t need more seating for now.
Boise state stadium is top 10 ugly overall
Man said "Frago dome" 😂😂
i wrestled in the fargo dome for 4 years won myself multiple stop signs there its actually a really cool venue.
Youngstown State by far the weirdest stadium Ive ever seen. For years they only had seats on one side and then about 20 years ago added a small section on vistiors side. . So weird and similar to San Jose stadium.
You forgot the weirdest of all, Georgia Tech's Bobby Dodd Stadium. Talk about something that is pieced together and strange.
I thought for sure the Kibbie Dome would be on here. Home of the Idaho Vandals. I actually thought it should be in the top 5 at least.
my dad went on a business trip to boise years ago and he got to walk the turf! he showed me alot of pictures
What’s the Fragodome?
Bill synder stadium is built with lime stone from the flint hills in ks. Almost all of k-state university is using lime stone
As an Eastern Michigan alum, I will admit our stadium is a bit of an eye sore now. I liked it better how the field looked back around 2011. It sucks because I know they want to have a presentable stadium but it’s hard to attract folks when literally U of M is 10 minutes up the street from us.
The Snyder family stadium looks like a 1920s mental hospital
Eastern Michigan's field is not PAINTED grey, that is the actually color of the artificial turf, just as Boise State's is blue.
DG needs to donate and provide renderings for all the stadiums he thinks needs to be updated.
San Jose state has such a weird field. I watched when they player Oregon State and it was so weird
Colorado can barely pay Sanders as a coach, I don't see them doing anything to that stadium for a long time.
I'd suggest Montana's stadium deserves to be on this list. It looks like a kid build a stadium with whatever Lego blocks he had on hand at the time.
Making Harvard even stranger.... both teams going into the locker room have to "duck down" to like 5 feet, slipping into this tiny concrete tunnel. Maybe the football players of 1930 were about 4 feet tall?
How did the Superior Dome not make the cut!?! Worlds largest wooden dome is pretty weird
suites on one side is usually due to where the sun glare is going to be less rich people don't like sun in the eyes
Bill Snyder looks like the front of one of those old high school in every big city 😂
Man’s attacking all my teams on ncaa…. SJSU and EMU 😢
Rynearson Stadium really does look like its being broadcast from the 40s
I change my tint if I’m watching a full Boise game. Make that field green. Boise becomes green and pink-red uniforms, which is less awful than the blue field.
Harvard is beautiful, it is maybe the oldest in the country. No modern amenities but great sight lines and has a great soul to it.
love the blue field
Eastern Michigan should really do away with that track. Can have a grey field, a pink ass track and grey seats
How about gray in the end zone and green on the field
Could have added Coastal Carolina and their Teal turf.
The Cornell stadium almost looks like the old sombrero in Tampa Bay.
The Fragodome haha
I think Kansas State is thinking of Fort Leavenworth to be honest. I mean that is only thing I can think of. FYI yes it is a federal prison but it is also US Army Base and learning center.
I live close to San Jose. It is super weird to have one side with no seats. Not sure who agreed with this remodel.
Manhattan, Kansas is rock chalk country, I think. Generous use of that appropriate for Kstate
All stadiums regardless of construction all look better when the seats are full
I love the blue flied
Iowa state vs Boise state there is snow on blue turf
Cornell Field remindsc me of a 1950s Safeway.
Bill Snyder stadium looks like a prison on the outside
University of Iowa with a view of the Health Sciences Campus comes to mind as unique
Franklin Field used to be The Eagles’ home stadium
The Maryland stadium looks like you can fall
It looks like the entrance to birkineu
Harvard is probably the oldest stadium is football.
Why is Kanas St on this list? It’s kind of beautiful
Frago! 😂
As an EMU alum I love our gray turf. It’s the stupid track that pisses me off lol.
I love non-green football fields I.e Boise, ccu, Eastern Washington etc
Franklin Feild looks like the Olympic stadium in Stockholm.
You can see the Washington monument and the Capitol from the upper deck at Maryland.
Dude I think the Harvard stadium looked awesome. I never seen it before. Id play there
It would seem like you’ve never been to the stadium in Boulder.
20 thousand for a playoff game How pathetic
Hey Depressed Ginger, I love the videos. I'm an ex-college player for South Dakota Mines. Check out our stadium online if you get a chance. We have the only stadium in the nation where you can park cars on 3 levels and tailgate on one side and also have stands on the home side.

Fragodome?
Should of put Indiana state stadium 🤣
You literally said you loved Harvards stadium in another video… lol
Fragodome? Really bro? Fargodome. C’mon man!
Some of these schools like Maryland should just take down the upper deck. Other schools can really use some general upgrades but guess its harder to do when you don't get free tax payer money. Bill Snyder looks like outside of a prison actually.
Brookhaven Oglethorpe has a baseball stadium that looks like K-state's
I dont knw what he talking about but i like weird stadiums
#HelloPragmaticUniverseOutThere!
Why would Eastern Michigan have a gray field when their primary color is green?

Absolutely nothing wrong with Albertsons Stadium.
