IMPORTANT: updates have now solved 4 out of these 10 issues (and the most important ones at that) Once more for the people in the back: This video is from BEFORE updates that fixed the problems I talk about. Yes, you can "just turn off scientists" NOW. Since an update that came AFTER this video. Please... please... release me from this curse where people do not understand how time works. I am desperate lol

The only real issue I have is lack of any sort of free-play mode. All the challenge modes have arbitrary restrictions, so there is no way to build a free-form park from the ground up. You either deal with a restricted roster or mechanics, or get progression-free sandbox. I did all my park builds as Jurassic challenges in the first game. I'd like to see the various challenge mode penalties as sliders, so you can make your own custom challenge modes. I'd be there day one for the max penalty Jurassic challenge.

This! This is so much needed. Havent had a reason to touch the game again, after I did all the challenges. They were fun! Better than in JWE1. But I just wished there was a way to play the game.. well.. normally. Choose an Island, an Era, difficulty -> go. No "just carnivores", no "more storms here than usual" , no "your scientists are dumber here for some reason" -- just a normal game mode. Where you start from scratch. Have access to all dinosaurs, have to research everything and pay for everything. Normal - park - building.

If I'm being honest, I don't like the fact that I can't use all the different environment brushes in sandbox mode. We kinda got the ability to do that by getting all the rocks from the different maps with the first update for sandbox but I want to be able to make pine forests in the tropics or have a desert exhibit with cacti in the taiga biome.

  • @AdamBourke25

@Bill Brothers Archives I don't think that "map-specificness" can be quite accurate, because we wouldn't be able to change their vertical position. While it's clear that there is some preplacement of trees, I suspect that 1) it's not map specific, but coordinate specific, and 2) it's computer generated anyway, just in advance. There are a few reasons that you might want to do this - partly it will be more performant to just turn on and off trees rather than have them be dynamic, and partly to make sure it always looks good. if you had two dyamically generated groups of trees and joined them together - you either have to recalculate all the tree positions as if they were in the same group, or risk having overlapping trees (the ground brush textures will also do the same thing to avoid seams or-recalcuation where you join e.g. two sand patches together. I say this as a game dev who has had to deal with very similar problems in the past :D We know it's possible to have multiple types of foliage because we already have them "Forest, Leafy Climbers, etc", so it really is just a question of why dont we have all of them. The reason for not having all the textures and models is probably one of two things: Artistic Direction or Performance. If it's the first one, then I presume a future patch will unlock it later in sandbox. I can see why they would not have it unlocked this early, and that's because they want to really highlight the new biomes, especially considering channels like this one, where people will be seeing the game and making decisions on whether to buy it. Is that their logic? idk, but it's feasible. If it's performance, then sorry it's unlikely to happen. You definitely wont see it on last-gen consoles, and you might get a few layers on next-gen but tbh I suspect that they will save those for new edible foliage rather than the forest. The good news is... none of this should stop them adding individually placeable trees, which I honestly don't understand why they haven't done it when they had it in JWE1 (maybe that artistic direction thing again? idk...)

I personally enjoyed JWE 1 more, ESPECIALLY when it came to unlocking dinosaurs. The dinosaur healing process is so annoying in JWE2 (While playing JP Chaos Theory my 2 Triceratops non-stop battled and one of them always was heavily wounded). It's kinda annoying how you have to research, find fossils, incubate and release for example Giganotosaurus in order to unlock it. Especially when it comes to larger creatures (Acro, Giga, Mosa etc.). They cost a lot of money. Oh, and I almost forgot: While playing JWFK chaos theory I got a task to transport a Sinoceratops to a safe enclosure. Guess what: After 2 seconds one Sino got INSTANTLY killed in a battle with another Sino and I've had to restart the chaos theory, which I didn't, cause I was already annoyed by the game. And don't get me started on Sandbox. Incubating dinosaurs in JWE2 is much slower and takes more attention than in JWE1. (I'm a Sandbox player mainly) After playing for 3 days, I've had enough of JWE2 and went back to Ripping and Tearing in DOOM Eternal, because I have so much more fun in it. Good video as always.

This was spot on. The MVU system means having a bunch of carnivores can be agonizing. I like having Coelophysis in my parks, but every time I do, I’m pretty much calling on the MVU every minute, because they insist on having large numbers, so they’re fighting all the time. Also, THANK YOU for calling out the unlock system. It’s a mess. I’m still trying to unlock a few species, and I swear that whenever I send out expedition teams, it can take them up to THREE trips to get enough for 50%, which especially sucks if they’re one of the more expensive creatures. I still enjoy playing this game, but you are absolutely right; it needs some fixing.

Here’s one hot take: I don’t care for unique animations for dinosaurs unless they’re cool(or adorable), or makes sense for the animal. And honestly it kind of drags down the game a bit for me because although do you get to see the cool animation of the Carnotaurus makes every time but then again you have to see that every time there’s no variety. So I would’ve been completely fine with reused animations for dinosaurs but randomized so every time they kill some thing it’s never the same animation.

It's replayability is apauling compared to the first game . You had a campaign with in my opinion some fairly decent replay ability . It was basically challenge mode but longer . Challenge mode was the same thing for each island where you start out with some starting cash and you build a park . These things are what had the replay value things you could do over and over again different each time . With campaign you could go back to previous islands and with challenge you could have everything on any island available in the game . With jwe2 you can't go back to any campaign islands you've already done once finished and with challenge each islands has set things you can and can't have . Germany is herbivore only/carno limited . And so there no way to build a park by research and earning and also have carnivores on Germany . Challenge mode was the main replay value of the first game because it was everything in the game on one island that you had to research it was the definition of a park builder however in jwe2 it's the same but limited for each island . I want Germany where I can have everything in the game but I also have to earn it I don't want sandbox where I'm given everything .

The one thing I feel that is missing from this game is that there isn't a scenario mode where you get to unlock almost EVERYTHING (or at least, every creature) in a single and linear scenario like you get with JWE1's campaign, as all the scenarios in the game have a limited roster. Also the InGen databases and the creature information the characters announce whenever you release an animal aren't as good as in the first game. And I have NO idea how or why they removed individually-placeable trees too! In addition, I cannot for the life of me get why they couldn't have an actual skin preview system like that of Prehistoric Kingdom's, PK's skin preview system is light years ahead of both JWE and JWE2 despite having much less budget in comparison. Also the fact that I can put Diplodocus, Apatosaurus, Brachiosaurus and Camarasaurus together despite all of the actually coexisted in real life is just asinine and ridiculously idiotic. And another major complaint: Cosmetic aging is still a thing in sandbox with no way to turn off.

Love this video, Evo! There’s a few things that I think were better in the first game for me that weren’t in the video so I made my own list Paths are much worse to me. Placing a path directly next to a building was something I loved in the first game and I have no clue why it’s removed. A lot of film-accurate buildings are just worse or were completely removed. I love the new customization of the amenities but I can’t say I don’t miss a few of the film-accurate JW and JP buildings we had in the first game that are impossible to recreate with the customization tools. (This is very minor but the Innovation center has no lights at night and lost its beacon that it had in the first game. Not a huge issue and I genuinely don’t mind if it doesn’t get fixed, but it still makes the building a little bit worse than the first game considering the only thing different about it is something worse.) This makes movie or scene recreations worse than the first game but that’s honesty not a huge issue. I have a big problem with this because why can’t we have majority of the buildings that are in the movies? There’s a variety of Jurassic World buildings that are missing in a game based on the Jurassic World franchise (like the T.Rex kingdom, Pachy Arena, a smaller Monorail Station, more variety of hotels, amber planter, benches and fountains, more decorative planters, river cruise for enclosures, several attractions and other buildings.) This issue is only worse with the removal of a lot of the film-accurate amenities that were in Jurassic World (a way to improve the amenities issue would be to give us more amenity customization to recreate these buildings and not just import them to JWE2.) I also don’t like how you can’t see the comfort of dinosaurs without doing ranger checks in sandbox. A few of sandbox options are missing. Being able to turn on infinite feeders and and a maximum combat option are gone to name a few. Minor complaint, but, in my opinion, the Spinosaurus lacks the presence it had in the first game. The model has been vastly improved but it doesn’t stand entirely upright and it’s shorter than the Rex. If it’s going to be the In-Gen Spinosaurus then why not make it accurate to the movie? This sizing issue applies to a lot of dinosaurs. I get that they were going for paleo-accuracy but there are some dinosaurs that I don’t really enjoy being smaller than their JWE counterparts (Styracosaurus and Huayungosaurus are examples of this.) Giant shadows in sandbox maps during the day setting (Nublar 2015 is the most noticeable example of this) is a huge nuisance to park building and can make some maps hard to utilize to their full potential because you can’t see the dinosaurs. These should either be toned down or removed for sandbox. I also can’t be the one that thinks every foliage option for every biome should be available for every map in sandbox. It’s SANDBOX, there shouldn’t be anything restricted to any biome just like how the rocks are available on every biome. I’m mainly saying this because I would like redwoods back in the tropical environment. I also don’t like how ANY carnivore can hunt and kill giant sauropods. Dreadnoughtus, Brachiosaurus, Camarasaurus, and Mamenchisaurus should be off-limits for hunting from any dinosaur (except Indominus Rex) and Apatosaurus and Diplodocus should only be hunted by large carnivores. I would not mind if sauropods were untouchable just like the first game. The fact that Proceratosaurus or Dilophosaurus even have a chance of taking down these dinosaurs is just mind-boggling to think about and adds to what frontier did in the first game by making herbivores just big pounds of meat for carnivores. Dinosaur fighting is just worse. I like how they fight during the battle more than I did in the first game but I don’t like the finishing “animations”.. at all. The tail swings and bone-cracking to finish a carnivore the Ankylosaurus and Stegosaurus did in the first game was a perfectly fine animation and was a great finisher. The Triceratops finisher was janky for all the ceratopsians but it was better than the one in this game. Now.. all they do is just hit the dinosaur and they fall over and rag-doll. This applies to majority carnivores and every single herbivore. Frontier should take the time to make finishing animations instead of just copying and pasting animations onto every single dinosaur like they did in the first game or not giving dinosaurs animations at all like how they’re choosing to do in the second one. Also, herbivores are *designed* to be weaker than the carnivores, even more so than the last game since a lot of herbivorous dinosaurs were nerfed due to size changes. A Styracosaurus (which should have a perfectly good chance against a Baryonyx, Metriacanthosaurus, or Suchomimus in real life) dies in one bite no matter how high you put the stats. A Stegosaurus should have the same stats as an Allosaurus, a Triceratops should have the same stats as a T.Rex and same as the Ankylosaurus because that’s how it was in real life. This is a problem and should be fixed with the dinosaurs *base-stats* but it’s even worse in this game because you can’t make a dinosaur much stronger than another one due to the Strong, Weak, and Defensive genetic modification barely telling you anything they do to the dinosaurs stats. Raptor packs have almost a guaranteed chance of killing any hadrosaur no matter how you change the stats. Ankylosaurs can weirdly be hunted by pack-hunting animals even though their claws wouldn’t pierce their armor. When ceratopsians, stegosaurs, and ankylosaurs hit small carnivores with their horns/tails the small carnivores will rarely take damage. This implementation makes the dinosaur hunting and combat much worse than the first game and really shows Fronteir’s clear favor for carnivores. I don’t like how every small carnivore runs like the Velociraptor. It genuinely takes away their uniqueness, even more so with the inclusion of pack-hunting (which almost all of them can do besides Ceolophysis and Herrerasaurus.) I don’t mind Deinonychus and Velociraptor sharing animations but none of the other small carnivores should be that much alike. Very minor complaint but Pteranodons are a bit undersized. The JP3 Pteranodon is as small as the JW Pteranodon and those are embarrassingly tiny. I saw a Velociraptor kill a Pteranodon and the Velociraptor was bigger than the Pteranodon which isn’t accurate to the films. Monorails delete foliage and you also can’t place any buildings under their tracks which makes monorails worse than the first game. Challenge mode restrictions make the mode worse. Northwest and Southwest USA on hard mode are worse than every challenge mode in the last game. If you attempted these challenges, you’ll understand what I’m talking about. The skin system is better but a tiny bit worse. Movie-accurate skins and skins from the first game are harder to find now and aren’t the default for a lot of dinosaurs. Indominus Rex, Parasaurolophus, Suchomimus, Mamenchisaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, Allosaurus, T.Rex, Ankylosaurus, Mosasaurus, and Indoraptor don’t have their default skins as their film-accurate skins. The removal of variations in the 1993, 1997, and 2001 skins are also a downgrade. Being able to make dinosaurs that had the 1993-2001 textures but had different colors/patterns was a great addition that RTJP brought to the first game. The removal of ALL of these variations was pointless. Some dinosaurs also don’t have skins for films that they feature in (JW Parasaurolophus, JW-JWFK T.Rex, and the Mosasaurus) BRING BACK FEEDERS. I don’t think a single person asked for them to be entirely removed. We just wanted dinosaurs to eat from natural foliage, which they do now, but now they have such demanding requirements to even be comfortable with their foliage that it makes enclosures limited or just look ugly when you satisfy their requirements. The inclusion of this also ruins inter-species enclosure ideas which are already marginally worse than the last game with the inclusion of ‘Species Preferences.’ Default patterns being available only by challenge mode is a problem for me. Rana is the basic pattern for every species of dinosaur but you can only unlock Rana for some species through challenge mode. Limiting the basic pattern for some creatures and requiring players to do challenge mode is annoying. I get that some skins for specific dinosaurs were only available through challenge in the first game but that was only *one* skin for just a few specific dinosaurs. Limiting the basic pattern for entire species of dinosaurs is unnecessary. Negative traits being a thing for dinosaurs in sandbox is beyond irritating. Some dinosaurs also have way more negative traits than others which leaves you less chances to add positive traits to specific dinosaurs. The fact that you also can’t edit a dinosaur to have specifically negative traits is also pointless. While still being unbalanced, biased towards carnivores, and fairly plain; the genetic modification system felt more precise and informative in the last game. If you wanted to make a dinosaur have attack stats of 120 and not 100 you can easily do that. Now to change combat stats you have to apply ‘Strong’ or ‘Defensive’ and those modifications tell you nothing about what they do to the dinosaurs. Aviaries are much better than the first game but I don’t like how the top gets flatter when you make them larger. They start to look odd when you want a bigger aviary to house more pterosaurs but, as you make them bigger, they don’t look like aviary domes anymore. This was a lot to type 😅

If I may add on as well, I hate how what should've been optional game modes for the player to play (Chaos Theory and Challenge Mode) have been turned into a necessity to play in order to unlock EVERYTHING the game has to offer. I don't know if it's because the main campaign is so laughably short or they wanted to give people more incentive to play these game modes, but the fact that you HAVE to play what was originally a completely and totally optional game mode in the first game is asinine to me. It doesn't help that Chaos Theory bounces between levels of difficulty, where some are incredibly easy and simple (like Jurassic Park 3 Chaos Theory) or some are incredibly hard and frustrating (like Jurassic Park and Jurassic World Chaos Theory).

Very well said, I agree with everything you said. What's worse for me is the numerous amount of bugs I've encountered especially after the last upgrade. Dinosaurs stand in place and starve to death, very common for me with the aviaries and raptor packs. I have to constantly reload in order to get them to move out of the same spot. Dinosaurs can just simply phase through fences and aviaries. This is still happening to me even after the last update. My dream park in Germany keeps lagging and constantly crashing. The lagoons have a weird lighting effect, and if you try to make a massive aquarium Park with multiple fish feeders the fish will fly through the air and there won't be enough in the individual lagoons for the Marine reptiles, and the animals start to get uncomfortable and slowly starve to death. Also I've noticed on multiple maps especially in San Diego the shark feeder does not resupply with the ranger team and has to be done either manually or deleted and reinstalled. Aside from the bugs I confess there is something off to me about this game, I don't enjoy building Parks as much as I did with the first game or the original operation Genesis. I struggle to come up with ideas, I feel the terrains despite the variation are more limited than in the first game, and what you said about the herbivores with the specific vegetation requirements and the species preferences has made me give up on trying to find fun combinations to mix and match. And as you stated there was much more freedom in the first game to genetically modified the dinosaurs as much as you wanted in sandbox mode where's here they give you a pitifully limited number of points that don't really do much. In the first game the Ankylosaurus and sinoceratops were two of my all-time favorites, get in the sequel I rarely used them because they're a bunch of primadonna's and take up too much space. You hit the nail on there when you said to her before enclosures come out looking so ugly. I would rather have an option to go back to herbavor feeders like in the first game, have that as an option for sandbox mode.

Yeah I gotta agree with you on all of this. With the first game, I got hooked playing the campaign and building my parks. Yeah, just waiting for the Dinos to incubate was a drag(esp in early game), but I still got hooked and probably put in at least 150 hours just playing around and building. With 2, I finished the glorified tutorial- I mean “campaign”, tried out a little sandbox, did two Chaos Theories, and I haven’t opened it since. Now I just watch you and the other JWE-Tubers because that’s more fun than actually playing. The most fun I had playing was driving around the wild areas and looking at the dinosaurs Also unrelated to the video but same with your comment. Got my booster yesterday too. So far, nothing to bad other than feeling a bit more tired

I don‘t want to spend hours having to restart the same chaos theory mode because I can‘t reach 5 stars or research and afford to hatch big carnivores before my star rating plummets. That or a random storm will destroy half my park. I‘ve had to take multiple breaks from a game that I want to play! It‘s just not a fun feeling…

There is a work around for the unlocking/space prob. You can build a park with some extra space, make a save and research/hatch unlock some dinos, then go back to the save with the space and repeat the process with the next lot of dinos you want to unlock. The game remembers which dinos you've already unlocked in the previous session. If that makes sense? Love your vids. :)

Pretty good and comprehensive list. The scientists are one of my biggest pain points as well. The MVU also should have been scrapped, or at least have it and the Mobile Response Unit (MRU) combined into one singular building that can do everything from the helicopter or the vehicles. My biggest issue actually combines all of the items you've listed into one: I spend so much time doing park management and putting out fires that I rarely have time to look at the creatures. That was one of my favorite things about JWE 1, looking at the animals. With JWE 2, if I take a break to look at them, I'm almost always putting off some sort of disaster that's going to cause me to lose chaos theory or challenge mode. The incorporation of deeper management is great, but after a while it still becomes the same old same old. Much akin to the problem with JWE 1 -- you ultimately are just trying to build 5 star parks all the time. JWE 2 is just tackling the same management issues across the different modes. It would be great to have an option to either turn down the park management difficulty in Sandbox or remove such management entirely. This would mostly apply to Scientists, but could also incorporate the MVU and MRU. Just out of curiosity, does anyone else get EXTREMELY annoyed when you assign the MVU or MRU to a task and it takes them FOREVER to get there? But then when it's time to get back to Base they FLY and get there in 2 seconds? I think this needs to be looked at and balanced better. It's almost like a hidden hurtle that makes addressing issues in your park even harder.

I found your channel recently as I have finally gotten around to playing this game, and I enjoy your content very much, so I subscribed. I know this is an older video, but the reason I stopped playing this game two years ago is because I couldn't find a game mode where I was going from park to park getting five stars and using the research from park to park to improve each new project and attain each new five stars. This feeling of building up all of my gains in research and development from park to park made all the work and struggles of each challenge feel worth it. But I don't seem to see that feature here? In this game's challenge mode when I go to the next park I have to do all the research all over again. Is the original park hopping research katamari of the first game just... not in the sequel? Not after two years? Maybe (hopefully) it is in a DLC or a mode I don't know about and you do?

Our parks/facilities always have a transport rating, but in order to satisfy it (even if you are making a JP only or DFW only map) you need a dang monorail. I have a few additional issues with JWE2 to add. - the map set up for many of the maps in both campaign and chaos theory. Especially 1993 Nublar, the map from Return to Jurassic Park was vastly superior to its JWE2 counterpart. Vast and wide open map where you could build many dozens of paddocks and lots of room to expand, which is a sharp contrast to the chaos theory 1993 Nublar map. And the size of most maps or their layout feels almost as restrictive as it was to build a park on Isla Pena from thefirst game. Especially with all the buildings and other infrastructure you need in place before you can even breed your 1st batch of dinosaurs. - plenty of missed opportunities with species cohabitation. The fact that you can only have 1 species of any particular type of dinosaur (aside from hadrosaurs and iquanodonts) in a paddock is an issue, espceially when they feed from different food sources. ie Apatosaurus prefers the "tall leaf" trees while Brachiosaurus prefers "tall nut" trees, and yet they can't cohabitate together. And the whole "Liked Species" lists we see with the larger carnivores that seems to be completely "wtf", such as housing Carnotaurus, Majungasaurus and Allosaurus together, only for them to continuously fight with each other. - and like you pointed out too, the excessive micromanaging is more of a banging your head against the wall nuisance. From the multi-steps to treat a dinosaur, to growing a dinosaur, the frequent needs for status checks (despite your ranger teams having just visited that frickin' outpost moments ago. The need to manually refuel your various generators, med centers and ranger stations. - I'm very iffy on how they have set up the genetic modification system, where you can only bolster the chance of some dinosaurs having a particular trait vs the dinosaur being guaranteed to have it, or being able to further enhance that trait to any higher degree. And the fact that you can't modify for what the game considers "negative traits", like trying to make a dinosaur less social. - The many headaches I had with the "dominance" system too, with multiple animals constantly trying to fight for dominance in their group, and the many trips to the med center for internal bleeding, lacerations, organ trauma and such, only to return them to their paddock afterwards and treat them again a couple minutes later... I find myself virtually praying that the next major injury is just a concussion, so that way I don't need to worry about treating in and hoping that'll stop the infighting... - I also wish we had a system where you could actually designate some of your "scientists" to particular jobs, like dedicated vets assigned to particular med centers. Or be able to send out multiple expedition teams at a time. And I really wish that if you hadn't been using any particular scientist for a period of time, that they would automatically start "resting" themselves, vs you having to always assign them to rest. Anyway, those are some of my additional issues to add to what you've pointed out with JWE2

Y’know what’s funny? I was dreading grinding unlocking dinosaurs in Challenge mode, so when I got the game I unlocked a huge chunk of them in JP chaos theory. And I got Dreadnought in JW chaos theory btw. Sure there was still a handful to unlock in challenge mode, but I only have Indoraptor left.

What bothers me most are the graphics requirements... My games go smoothly in JWE1 with a hundred of beasts on the screen and a tropical storm but the lowest quality in JWE2 is barely able to make a diaporama out of 2 low poly dinosaurs. You can't expect people to buy bigger computers because you don't optimize your game. Cinematics are such a struggle, too.

You have some very good points here. I mean, the individual trees, come on Frontier! Don't really mind the MVU tho, that you need them to diagnose. I do mind that you have to keep on their asses to get the job done, like you said. Don't mind the patterns and skin colors either. And your big last point, surprisingly, I don't agree. I really liked the grind for the dinosaurs and it was not difficult at all to unlock them all. But luckily we are all different. And like you said this is your list, and every opinion is valid☺️ still, I definitely agree with the most points on your list. Frontier absolutely has dropped the ball with some stuff and made some weird decisions! Have a good rest of your weekend!🦖

I've hardly touched it since the release. I've probably got about 8/9 hours play time. Compared to the first it's much more of a chore to unlock stuff, it also didn't help that chaos theory mode was needing an update to fix quite a bit.

My one gripe with the game is the fact that it did not include Wetlands in US and the most interesting swamplands they could have added to the game would have been the "Carolina swamps", because if you see the pictures of the "Carolina swamps" you would agree too it is the most prehistoric looking swamps you'll ever come across please Frontier add the Carolina swamps pretty please. Taiga, Alpine, Tropical, Desert and Temperate Biomes are ok But Wetlands are heavily requested by the community aswell. Scenery Items are Heavily Missed I agree👍. Also I think there should be a system where you can choose which incubation system you want to use in Jurassic World Evolution 2 sandbox. Kind of like how Frontier gave us the option to flatten our maps before we start a new Sandbox map. Options for example (JWE1 Hatchery Mechanic) or (JWE2 Hatchery Mechanic) this way we don't have to need scientists in sandbox all the time.

I actually really really like park builder games and I LOVE DINOSAURS so when I heard this game was getting a discount I got it immediately. The first few hours of the game were pretty good, I was surprised the campaign was so short so I went to sandbox mode. The moment of realization I had when I realised that you need to unlock dinosaurs from challenge mode or chaos theory mode. It was so frustrating unlocking those dinosaurs I loved like the mosasaurus, the indominus, the indoraptor, the spinosaurus. I almost rage quitted once when I was SO CLOSE to unlocking the mosasaurus and a storm just came and just made me bankrupt. But still at the end I unlocked the indominus and the indoraptor in challenge mode and it was quite satisfying. Great video!

I'm still looking for Tsintoasaurus and Nigersaurus..... I do feel you make great points. I still love the game, but I do wish most stuff would be easier in sandbox. I enjoy all the modes, even challenge mode, but the dinos do need to calm the F down when it comes to fighting. I also like how they did the dinosaur traits, and you can only make so many mods for dinos, in challenge/chaos etc. But It's something I would like to have a little more open in sandbox, no limitations, including being able to modify the traits in a negative way(currently they can only be made positive) and have infinite trait modification points in sandbox. Makes sense to have those limitations in the other modes, along with the scientists. But maybe I want a bunch of weak raptors in sandbox so they can't kill anything, especially pack hunting.

There is a game I play called sovet Republic where you have the option to set different things to different difficulty levels. For example you can have game education set to basic difficulty (where all citizens have basic education by default and all you need is university education for some more specialized jobs (such as doctors)) and there is complex difficulty where grade school is also required before citizens can work. They could do the same in JWE2 where for medication for example, basic mode only requires the medicate darts and on advanced it requires the treatment center. You could also do the same to scientists

Something I’m still trying to unlock is avian influenza medication as it’s the final thing for a 100% complete database and I can’t get it to trigger! Another thing that annoys me is when it says ‘dinosaur A likes dinosaur B’ so you build a pen large enough for them, make sure every comfort is met but they immediately fight to the death….. there’s a lot of unhelpful and frustrating elements to this game compared to its predecessor

Personally I would like to see the individually placed trees and different colored paths, but I would also like the feeders to return. I don't mind placing plants in my herbivore enclosures but when I have to cover most of it in plants it really limits the space I have to make the exhibit look nice. I would also like more decorations. Fountains, statues, even some amber statues would be a nice touch. I do like the planters but a bit more variety and size would be welcome. This might be a little too ambitious but I would like to be able to make a petting zoo like they had in JW. In terms of the medical teams I really wish they would make it so that if I send them to scan a dinosaur and they have a minor injury that can be fixed without tranquilizing them, I wish they would just treat them without me having to get involved to tell them too -.- That gets so annoying after a while.

  • @tacomaster2179

The three lesser spoken things that annoy me the most are the lack of select placeable plants and trees, like you said. The fact we don't have those awesome skin variations for the Jurassic Park era skins anymore like with the JP Triceratops skins. And the fact that there's still dinosaurs that dont have finishing battle animations like the first game. It annoys me how dinosaurs still just fall over sometimes when they get killed in a fight and i think its unforgivable that for whatever reason they COMPLETELY removed finishing animations from almost all the herbivores. I miss it so much how a Triceratops would impale a T Rex in the neck when it killed it in the first game. Now they just give a light head butt and the Rex falls over. I still thing the game is leagues better than the first but they seriously couldn't transfer these things over from the first?

The only thing I feel Evolution 2 massively flopped on was the campaign. In JWE1, I remember having played and replayed that one many times, and it was neat to have a single cohesive basic storyline as you go through the islands, building up more and more dinosaurs and technologies, and the campaign ending with some proper credits. You got to build up parks on each island with certain things available and with certain objectives, just steadily progressing. JWE2 in a way feels aimless where it feels like the side modes are the only thing worth playing. Unlocking new dinosaurs and stuff via challenge mode felt way more underwhelming compared to getting them in the campaign in JWE1. And without that campaign, replay-ability is a bit weaker overall. However, I won’t judge too harshly yet. There are plenty of benefits the sequel has and already some issues here were fixed. And it just goes to show, Evolution 1 we look at now after it had went through its lifecycle and seen fixes. Evolution 2 is still developing.

Changes needed that aren't coveted here; All terrain and foliage brushes should be available in every map, at least in Sandbox mode. Lagoons should have adjustable water "murk" and the option to add marine plants, coral, etc. Aviary domes "go away" when editing terrain.

My most annoying gripe right now is the game pauses when I'm doing research and it can't be unpaused! While I'm researching something with a timer I might want to browse through the research trees to strategize and decide what I'm researching next. Instead I have to come out of the menus completely, lose what I was looking at and then go back in once my research timer is complete 🤔 We could do that in JWE1 because the game had no pause option.

In addition to all the points you mentioned, the lack of content continues, as I mentioned before (Before this game was released) that I wish Frontier would notice the work of the modders but no, I still hope that the Modders improve this game The Ranger Post installation, they need to fix it, it consumes a lot of activities of the Rangers Teams, the idea is good but it is stupid in execution, like the lack of scientists in the spray at the dinosaur recovery facility And, I continue with the dissatisfaction of the terrible designs of the Acrocanthosaurus, Albertosaurus, Carcharodontosaurus, Dreadnoughtus, Herrerasaurus, Iguanodon, Nigersaurus & Ouranosaurus Additionally, they added others that look just as deplorable in design: Amargasaurus, Kronosaurus, Megalosaurus & Qianzhousaurus... this is simply regrettable, I guess they didn't want to pay more to improve those designs and Frontier let the last scholarship student make it well, these dinosaurs will continue out of my parks I did not like the design of the new hotels as well** I have many more complaints but I have seen comments that mention them

I heavily agree with the campaign and unlocking parts, the first game having both in one incredibly satisfying campaign run was just pure perfection. I played like 40-50 hours within the first week because I couldn't stop myself from jumping between the islands, unlocking more things and with them upgrading all the parks at once essentially. Nothing came even close to that feeling in the second game and while I enjoyed the graphical upgrade, new environments and dinos, it just never felt like a complete experience.

Its like Frontier has a rule. When they give us something they must also take away. They gave us more trees, but took away the individual placement ones. They gave more scenery items, but took some. For instance, the little restroom that goes in front of the T-Rex paddock is no longer in the game. Plus I still haven't unlocked all the dinosaurs and really have little motivation too because of the hassle. I have to take breaks from this game more so than the the first. The scientist are a great addition to the game, but overall they massively slow the process up for unlocking everything.

Another thing I’d like added to this list is how arguably boring the lagoons are! To the point where I often just not bothered to add them. There is no customisation other than adding feeders and viewing galleries, which btw dont connect together like in the film, which makes them look out of place and awkward, especially when trying to place them alongside the shark feeder. I cant place anything inside the lagoons or have any cool water foliage/rocks. I cant look under the water unless locked onto a dino. And theres no tour attractions. We can place a track through an aviary but we dont get glass tunnels for the tanks? Even a boat tour would be cool. I also hate how the lagoons place, they often dont line up with the arrows and are extremely limited with terrain. I wish they placed more like giant paths, we would have so much more creative control that way. On another note, how do we get wild flyers in the park? When i first say them flying around in the trailers, I assumed that if we deleted the aviary all the pterosaurs inside escape, allowing us to create ‘wild’ parks. But thats not the case? We know they can break out, so why cane we release them?

I understand what you're saying but what I actually like about 2 over 1 is that there's a little more liberty about which dinosaurs you want to unlock when you want to go for them. I agree about buildings/fences being instantly placeable in Sandbox mode. That and the scientist stuff could use some tidying up (again, in Sandbox mode- I like all those mechanics in the regular Challenge modes).

One thing that I wish JWE2 would have done is for certain things like, say the Giga, we have the JWE2 model and then we have the movie model. Same goes for feather Rex. But one thing I want them to be able to do is have a separate tab for the dinosaurs with different models. Like I could choose to make a T. rex, choose the feather model, then make it red or white or something, and then give it a pattern (yutyrannus is one of my favorite and this is the closest thing I have to making it). Or make a movie giga and then give it a bluish tint to it. I think that would be great and I hope they do that in an update,

Wow, thanks so much for this video. I loved the first one and just got & finished the JP DLC. So, now I was curious about the second game, but I'm always worried about these games getting overzealous and bogged down in minutia. It sounds like that is exactly what they did. I think they should always offer a fun mode with things unlocked and a simplified level of minutia or at least the option to toggle on or off the things you don't enjoy. It is after all a game and should be fun above all else.

I agree with most of this. On your last point, you can also unlock dinosaurs by the missions where you capture wild dinosaurs. Which is nice, but very much a crap shoot when it comes to unlocking them that way. I think my biggest pet peeve is how difficult it is to mix different species. I hate that all ceratopsians hate each other. Or all stegasorids. The hadrosaurs mix alright and the ornithomimids. Without adjusting combat settings, Elasmosaur and Plesiosaur are the only aquatic species that can cohabit without issue in my experience. It just made building parks a real process. I didn’t always love the idea of mixing large and small carnivores in the first one, but at least you could have more species that way.

I watched this before, and now going back you were right, but I redownloaded it after a few updates came out, I’m happy that they added functional research and excavation to sandbox, and giving you the ability to create your own challenges, I made a herbivore reservation, with all the dinos unlocked with all the challenge settings on high, took me most of a weekend to complete it, fast, but I beat the campaign and two chaos theories in less than a day when it first came out, though I do enjoy the skin unlocks for completing the challenge maps, my major complaint though is the DLCs, they’re tiny compared to the first, luckily I waited for a discount event, PS5, getting each for under five dollars, but even then they weren’t impressive, I honestly should have passed on the CC DLC, just skins and one Dino as far as I could tell

Hopefully, in a later update, they give us the option to not need the scientist to make dinosaurs. It was honestly stupid that you have to make 3 buildings, hire 4-8 scientists, and then max them out. And also imo, I feel like the amenity system is more annoying then it was in the first game. In the first game, you just build them and unless your low on cash, that’s it. But in JWE2, they overtime begin to lose profit and changing something will cause it to worsen.
