My Speedy was the watch i wanted since my very early 20's, but even then i knew spending that kind of money on a watch was crazy, so I set a rule that i wouldn't buy until I had no debt. First paid off the student loan, then bought my first house... Then my next house, and finally at 38 years old last fall i paid off the mortgage and was able to buy my Speedy. It's as good as advertised, and it makes me happy every time i look at it. Even more so knowing that I stuck to my convictions to get it.

I guess I’m in the minority, but I own a TISSOT PRX POWERMATIC 80 STEEL & 18K GOLD BEZEL that I bought in Switzerland from an AD some years ago. I loved the way it looked but didn’t like how it wore on my wrist-it just looked small. That's why I'm considering selling it. I'll do some research to find out its worth now.

90% of us will never be in a position to buy an Omega Speedmaster. $12K+ is insane money regardless of how amazing the watch is. However, 100% of us can afford the Casio calculator watch, and honestly, you'll probably get more comments and questions about it than you will get about the speedy.

My list of 7 affordable watches to own: 1 Casio F91W - Because it is more iconic and comfortable than any G-Shock. 2 Orient Mako - Because everyone has Seiko or Citizen divers, just be a little different. 3 Casio G-Shock GWM5610 - Because if you are going to own a G-Shock it should be a square! This is better than the DW5600. 4 Tissot PRX - Just get a PRX, it's the watch of the moment it super comfortable and it looks incredible. The quartz beats the Powermatic 80 and it's more in keeping with the 70s style. 5 Vostok Amphibia: The Amphibia haa a really cool story behind them! Look it up and you will want one. 6 Hamilton Khaki Field: There are more expensive field watches sure, but this is as iconic as any! The glycine combat sub. You can usually find a version of the combat sub for around $300 tax and all if you really look hard enough. And definitely no more than about $375. And for a Swiss made automatic dive watch with sapphire crystal and selita sw200 and metal movement retainer ring and crown stem gasket it should be the dive watch that everyone should own. I also wanna add one more and that’s a bulova precitionist with a sapphire crystal. There is a few but I’m gonna say the bulova jetstar precitionist. For only around $400 you get an in house quartz movement from a big brand name with sapphire crystal that ticks 16 times a seconds so the seconds hand is smoother than any automatic or mechanical watch you’ll ever own unless you count the spring drive by grand seiko and the precitionist is accurate to between five and ten seconds a year. So it’s really a set and forget until day light savings. If you want something with a really smooth sweeping seconds hand that you don’t have to correct for day light savings time your spending jlc or Patek money. So yeah everyone should go out and buy a glycine combat sub auto and a bulova precitionist, preferably with a sapphire crystal.

A G-Shock that goes under the radar, but is easy to get, cheap, and works for a smaller wrist (I also have 6.5" wrists) is the G9000 Mudmaster. I know you're mentioned it before, but at only ~$75 bucks, you get a seriously beefy watch that feels like a step up in durability over other G's (especially in this price range). Plus, it was developed with Dakar rally drivers in mind and features a mole on the caseback. :)

People snub Panerai sometimes, but they’re great if you’re willing to do a bit of reading on which models offer the best specs for the price as the are very wearable for all wrist sizes (like some larger Seiko models.)

For me, it has to be the Willard in the green like yours, really want one.....just got to somehow justify the cost. Favourite in my collection right now is the new GBM-2100A that G-shock have just released. They have fixed all the problems with the GM-2100. Now it has Solar, bluetooth (if you want it ?!) , beautiful colours and got rid of the nasty illegible negative digital display and replaced it with a positive display. It is now legible and beautiful.....as a result I sold my GM-2100-1AER (which I did love, but couldn't read the time on it) and bought a GBM-2100A-1A2ER which has a Vapour Blue dial.......gorgeous.....check it out.....

Just an FYI. Casio dropped the U from the 5610 model lineup as all of them now have the updated module and they dumped the old SKU. They're back to just being the 5610-1 again

One watch in my collection everyone should own... Hmm... One of the Citizen Promaster Land series PMD56-2952/51 or AT6080/85... I have the 2952 and the 6085. Sometimes I flip them and always end up buying a replacement within a month or two.

Citizen WATCH Promaster PROMASTER NB6021-17E MARINE series - hands down should be on the list - hardened titanium with miyota 9000 series for under 500 - I have seen them test to within one second on a timegrapher right out of the box - try THAT with any Seiko

Just love the speedmaster, but don’t think I would buy that, because of the price. For that kind of money I could buy so many cool watches! One of the watches others should consider is the Orient Kamasu watch. Specially the bluish green dial. 🔥

the Sekio 007 is probably the watch I would suggest everyone starting out should get into. at it's core it's a Very capable watch having certified 200M Dive resistance, it's so widely produced that there are endless Mod's you can get into with it should you go down that road, and if you wanted to you could support a enthusiast brand like "Islander" who build a Identical version but with a better sum of parts than the Original 007. ether way you go it's a must EXPERIANCE watch IMO. even the snoby of watch owners respect the 007's for Sekio's legacy and significance to the Watch culture it has provided. a 007 is often the mechanical watch that starts the average person down the road to a Grail watch of great signficance like a speed master, or a sub or any other "luxury" brand that no one considers in the begining. for that reason it's a MUST have.

As much as I like the square 5600, I prefer the GBD 200 as it retains the iconic shape but has (in my opinion) a much better display and some really cool colours. And (some models) can be had for less than $200 AUD 😘
