Hi Tom, ive just started running im 64 soon, i did run when i was younger but moved onto a mountain bike for 35 years so my heart and lungs are ok and recovery rate is good. So if i need advice your my man. Ive bought a pair of nike react infinity run 4 , they cradle my foot realy well and perform great straight out of the box, they're firm comfortable and have a good bounce return, ive done several runs at 5k on the flat with small climbs and i feel great so far. I plan on doing several months with a bit of variety then i will build up to steeper trail runs, luckily im on the edge of the north york moors with miles of forest trails and steep climbs.

Sounds good esp the location where you live. Bring on the better weather and trails can dry out. I have not run in the Infinity shoes, if they feel good, shoes can be such a personal thing. Sounds like you are approaching it best to slowly build up aerobic base and allow time for strength adaptations to build. Best wishes with your running return.
