I remember that was my second time watching Izzy fight (first was Costa), and I was very new to mma. By the time the fight ended, I was convinced that Izzy could win just based on what I heard from the commentary. Looking back at that fight, it was clear that the commentary, Rogan mostly, wanted Izzy to win so bad and should have been grounds for a public apology to Jan. Still, Rogan saying Jan was "eating feints" from Izzy makes me laugh at how stupidly deep the bias went

Iam Czech, when we won 1998 Olympic Games ice hockey competition in Nagano, our commentators (namely one - Robert Záruba) went nutts and sayd a sentence that is famous here till this day and will always be core memory for ice hockey fans. The outburst of emotions was huge, the differencce is, it was National team - the whole nation felt the same and his reaction was thus understood by everybody in our country, without exemptions. In MMA you dont have IMO the “comfort“ to be biased, its watched internationaly and the “rules of fandom“ are much more blured.

it was Dominick Cruz. also, it was the only mistake he made in that night. he was very brilliant in the Ferguson vs Pettis fight. I was disappointed on him hearing fanboying all over Conor and couldn't face the reality where he's getting smashed badly by Khabib. he tried to redeem himself in the very next round ngl.

If Bisping is in commentary, he is always doing *something* for his countrymen on stage, but it's toned down so it doesn't hurt my eyes/ears so much - Bisping is consistent overall, I like that. I used to box and I still love boxing doesn't matter what kind of horrible state it is in right now. but yeah, it showed the reality that boxing is just a subset of MMA. James Toney's "masterful defence" in boxing literally has nothing to do in a fight where it almost doesn't have a rules anymore. it shows that 99/100x, an MMA fighter will destroy a boxer in a street fight. it was a rude awakening.
