10 things you need to know before dating a Slovak Man

Hello everyone!
Today's video is something special and hopefully not too controversial.
In this video I decided to share my experiences and observations about Dating Slovak guys.
You guys know that I am married with a Slovak man so I have first hand experiences.
Just wanna make clear though, that this video is not to generalize all the Slovak guys because I know that each and every individual are different.
But these characteristics of Slovak guys I describe in this video are purely based on my observation and I think these can be attributed to the Slovak culture in general.
Anyways, I hope you guys will enjoy the video and will also share with me your experience below!

WELCOME!!!! Ahoj.🖖

Just be cautios with phrase "milujem ťa". It´s probably the strongest expresion in slovak language when you want to show your emotions to somebody and if it´s said too early.. a lot of slovak men would run away :D This video is true, in general we are very reserved. I think that from point of slovak men, these relationships has to be build over time maybe a little longer than it´s necessary.

I am French and just started dating this Slovakian guy I just met. From the 1st date he was very invested, homemade dinner with candles, picked French wine for me, already talking relationship, very committed and dedicated, he gave me his arm to walk. 2nd date I realised he is holding the doors for me, walking me in and out of the car for example which really striked me! He is very affectionated, shows affection and makes out in public which as a French I find absolutely normal, but this is very weird to me because on the other hand he is very shy and silent, while giving all these marks of love and attention, this feels a bit awkward for a loud and opinionated French woman. But of course this is just a start, who knows. Other than that he doesn't actually seem like leaving the chores to women since he cooks for me, but yes he does love his alcohol and doesn't buy it much to avoid drinking it all straight away lol.

Agree with most of thing... "Complaint a LOT" is the thing you see more because of huge cultural difference. Your culture is very positive in expression, while we are super honest (as you mentioned in one of previous points). And super honest or being straightforward means that if we can see bad thing, we do not hide that, do not cover or run from it. Talking about it and analyse it (which for you can feel as "complaint") is the way how we dealing such things and trying to find out the way how to solve it. So "complaint" is not always complaint. ;)

Oh my, this video is very refreshing hehehe. It’s so spot on, Kim! You have eagle eyes 😀 I also would like to add some more points that I got from observing my Slovak boyfriend: 1. It’s hard for them to say “I love you” but when they do, you know that they really mean it. My heart is always full of butterflies every time he says this to me and I love him so much 🥰 2. My Slovak bf is very hardworking and I like that he’s very calm under any circumstances. He never looses his temperament in public no matter what happens and I really like it. 3. Very forward-thinking and when he makes decisions he always includes me. He’s a man of his words and has a huge sense of responsibility. 4. I don’t know about other Slovak men but my bf when he likes certain brand or food, he will always buys and consumes the same stuff. I can tell that he’s very loyal, not only to brands but also to people. 5. This might be caused by their history, I think Slovaks are very cautious towards any political agenda and movements. They do not want to experience what is currently happening to USA and Western European countries. 6. Very tall and handsome. And because he rarely smiles in public, but he does when he’s with me, I feel like I’m a treasure in his eyes. And he gets even more handsome every time he smiles, aaww my heart is melting now 😆🥰 Thank you for making this video, Kim. I really like it and it makes me appreciate my Slovak boyfriend even more. And your husband is a lucky man to have a very cute and appreciative wife like you 😍 Keep up the good job 😃👍🏽 Warm regards from Indonesia 🇮🇩

As Slovak man few things ... 3. This is one of our characteristics specially when it comes to partners you are going to be included in most of stuff or more likely in all of them until you say you don't want to. Your word have weight and this matters for everybody specially for man it's his pride. 4.Another thing that is very common most of man here, if it works it works we usually do not experiment with new tastes until it's needed but if partner want us to or give us something new to taste we take it. 5.We are mostly conservative Christian country so people who expect to start with anything liberal here are going to meet a really big red stop we don't really care if it's happening outside of our country but if it starts here people are usually against and go to protests.

    5. and then someone from the west visits and thinks we are all rednecks and racists (true to a certain degree, like everywhere), also there are many older people while the young tend to go away and that's why it's hard to outvote some ancient thinking parties making the decisions (drug decriminalization, sexual rights, economic reforms etc.)

First time I met a Slovak man, I was like damn he's totally my type. Haha. He's reserved, mysterious and very friendly, that's what made me attracted to him for the first time. Sometimes awkward talk, indeed. haha. A gentleman. We are exclusive but he wants to take things slow. What does it mean "exclusive dating" for Slovak men and how long did it take for you to move from exclusive dating, relationship and getting married? Do they prefer the woman to make a decision in a relationship?

I always say: "If you don't want to hear the answer, just don't ask". :-D That gender roles are true, BUT younger generation under 30 is more flexible. My husband was raised in a very loving family but also with the opinion. In first months of our relationship I told him that sometimes may happen there will be no dinner, if I would have no time (because I also work). I taught him basic staffs and now he helps me with everything from cooking to washing clothes. :-) I think that household should be divaded not to genders, but if one partner hates smtg and for the other it is smaller problem, why don't make your life easier?

Keep your promise!!!!! If you agree on something or if you promise something to do , do it. Otherwise you will be seen as irresponsible and not trustworthy-especially if others depend on you and you create troubles for them by your irresponsible action. That is why Slovaks do not like to cooperate with "southern mentality , africans or latinos" very much , because many of them-i am not saying that all of them, but many- take this matter very easily and do not put too much emphasis to it. It creates loss of trust and loss of will to cooperate in the future. Simply said- The word makes the man, your word must be worth your action. If not, then forget about good relationship with Slovaks. And it does not matter if you are man or woman- your word is very important.

good video lol. Maybe you may consider making a video about Slovak women. My one observation is that you kind of rarely see being a "gentleman" in our women. Lets say man is carrying something with both hands but female wont hold the door for him and lets him struggle instead. Like such thing doesnt even come to her mind. Sure there are exceptions but this I saw quite often. Once I asked such a woman why dont you hold that door for me? She gave me a bad look in a sense how come I even dare to ask?

Kamusta ka Kim again. Good job. I mean it is not easy to give a true picture of Slovak men. I think it is impossible, because people (not men only) are different. But you are correct, it exist something in common. Also here "Slovak men complain a lot" ... not men only. Slovak complain continuously. For example it is rare when somebody praise weather. It is too hot or too cold or rainy or too windy ... it is rare to hear "it is pretty weather today. I can tell you what I learned bout Asian's girls. And it is the same it doesn't matter if the girl is from Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam ... never compare her to an animal or a bird. Kuriatko ... when a man says kuriatko to her girl, it is so cute, so lovely. But Asian's girl will reply "Im not a hen!" Or Kočka. It is piece of appreciation from a man to a woman. It means "I like you now". You can say to an Asian's girl ... maybe kitten but never a cat. Am I correct Kim? You can compare girls with sun, flame but never, NEVER to an animal or a birth.

such a trifle to those gender roles Yes it s true many slovaks think houseworks are for women but this has other side. In Slovakia, the emphasis is on the fact that a man is the head of the family and it is his unconditional duty to take care of and financially secure his family. This leads to social pressure and high levels of stress. and many men consider their partner's help or if it is better in securing the family than the fact that they social failed completely

Hello I am Filipina too. All things you said is definitely true base on my observation because I have a friend and he is a Slovak man but then sometimes he had a lot to say and yes he is brutally honest. Sometimes I don't know what to say or do because I can't find a right word because everytime I explained something he is always an opinion about it hahaha. He told me that he is going here in Philippines. I am afraid that if he sees my house , he is going to make some comments about it. And how can I make some food for him if he is like that like I remember I sent a photo of what I cooked but then he said it is look like disgusting but for me it is delicious but then he is still insisting for me to tell or take pictures of what I do, what I prepare for dinner. At times, I don't know if I will still talked or update him because of his way of telling things. He is sad if I am not saying anything but when I say something he is complaining .omg 😂 .My problem now is what can I do when he went to Philippines. I don't know a lot about other regions, about what was happening about the politics here in the Philippines because you know it is stressful everytime I watched news. What can I tell ...tell me. Don't know what to do

A man doesn´t travel half-way across the world to talk about politics... He wants to go there to meet YOU. Take him to the places you like, tell him stories about what you experienced there when you were young, show him where you went to school and intoruduce him to some of your friends. Slovak men are simple in that regard, we want to get to know our women - good and bad, talking as a Slovak man myself. Good luck with the relationship.

It depends what you pick up. If men are just sleeping with you then probably you are trying to pick up men with lot of options (you shoot too high) and/or you don't add value outside of the bed. Or might be several other reasons. There are many videos about this. But overall it's definitely better than USA. But I am sure the western influence will continue to damage the dating market as well.

And you are another source who confirms this. another trait is envy, but that is specific for older people. As significant slovak person, mr Stepka, said: if envy was an oil we would be Dubai. :D but luckily for others we are not offensive, we just mumble under our noses ;)

Ahoj Kim skoro so všetkým súhlasím.

As a slovak man I am going to definitelly unsubscribe after this video! HAHAHA, just joking. It is very hard topic for generalisation. Character of men differs depending on huge variety of factors, but as we have experienced the same social environment, for sure we have something in common. And you, Kim, are a very good observer. I like your neverending positive energy. Keep doing this niece videos, that I enjoy every single of them :)

Slovak honesty- very importatnt to survive in competition-we are small nation, must be hard and direct in order to succeed. Introverts- yes, think twice, say once. Slovak negativity is just simple pragmatism- we are prepared for bad things to happen, so nothing surprises you. Family? Just repecting the nature- male is hunter getting food-money, female is taking care of children and family- rules of nature. Alcohol- beer has been brewed here for milleniums, wine the same, many households have own destillery for destilates. Better than drugs.

@@FeroVlkolinsky People, why do not you go to local museums in area or district towns and do not check local history- beer has been brewed here for at least 3500 years. Same wine production.
