As a kid, I always loved this movie. Estelle Getty was great as "Ma." From cleaning Joe's gun, to having him eat a huge breakfast, to even taking down the bad guy.
I'm so shocked people didn't like this film, it was a childhood favourite. Estell was brilliant
SOMMWS was a massive hit here in the Philippines since PHL predominantly has a matriarchal culture. 🙂 "Golden Girls" also had a large fan-following here as well as Stallone's fan-base from the Rambo and Rocky film franchises which surely contributed to the movie's success.

Hi, long time fan first time commenter. I have been watching for years but due to reasons I have not been able to watch for the past year or so. So I have spent this year catch up on all the videos I've missed. Minty you are absolutely freaking awesome, an absolute inspiration. You were good from day one and you have only got better since. I love your positivity and so screw all those that just love to be negative about you. I am commenting in particular on this videos to say Sylvester Stallone regretting doing the film, the critics and who ever else that have bad things to say about this film clearly do not know comedy genius when they see. This shows Sylvester Stallone is not just a action man. On top of that this film is just hilarious. I loved it as a kid. I am 37 now and I still love it. Once again you are awesome Minty never change and never apologise.
on that note, could we get a 10 things video for "My Stepmother is an Alien" ???? that movie deserves some love, and it's quite good, and also...... Kim Basinger looks freaking hot in it :)
My mom's favourite movie. She loved Estelle Getty.
Had fun watching this but it's not tango and cash that's for sure.
Just gotta love it. My children and I love watching let’s say not the best movies ever made, but we all do enjoy wasting some time together and quoting them in front of others who totally don’t get what we’re talking about. It’s just silly fun for us.
I literally have tears in my eyes from laughing at your Arnold Schwarzenegger impression! 😹 I’ve actually never seen this movie, but I love the Golden Girls so I would give it a watch if I came across it!

I liked this movie as a kid. It's in there with Kindergarten Cop and Loaded Weapon 1. Definitely not as good as those, but fun to watch sometimes.
This film weirdly holds a special place in my heart. I remember coming home from school one day about 18 years ago when I was around 10, my mum had just got me some Greggs and a DVD at the end of the week was my treat. She got me Stop Or My Mum Will Shoot and I loved it. It may not hold up but I still have nostalgic memories of it
This and Throw Momma From The Train would make a great double feature, love them both!
I just giggled at this film.. Mother is pronounced differently in lots of places, I'm from England and mine was Mam but I have a friend who calls his Mum and another who says Mutha. Great video as always 😊💜🐾👍👋
The Arnie story should be #1
The banter between Stallone and Arnold was crZy
The impressions left me in stitches, then came the laughing outtake... It was hilarious! 😂 Loved it!
Stop or mom will Shoot & Oscar are fun to watch. They get a bad reputation but that's mostly from cinema snobs. They are both certainly more watchable than Arnold in Junior 😄
I lived in Los Angeles when this movie came out and it was a guaranteed punchline.
The Arnold impersonation was spot on. Your Sly could use some work. Watch Rocky again. That scene when he yells, "yo Paulie, Adrians over at my place" cracks me up. My son laughed for 10 minutes repeating that line. He was 30 at the time. Good times.
Have to give a shout-out to the late, great Blake Snyder. Not only did he write two scripts that actually got produced (which is more success than most screenwriters have), but he also wrote 'Save the Cat' which is widely regarded as one of the go-to guides for writing stories and film scripts and is often cited by people in the industry as a book that really helped them. Thanks, Blake.
Is it Rambo? No, but it was a funny early 90’s move. I still enjoy it.
I watched this movie dozens of times growing up in the 90s. It really is a unrated hidden gem.
First movie I ever rented out as a child at the rental store.
Oscar is literally one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, and it has an All-Star cast
Minty mentioned the Mom-Mum spelling. Since Stop Or My MOM Will Shoot was an American comedy, The spelling of MOM is the American version of the word, where MUM seems to be the International English version of the word.
Whether you love or hate it, it will always be hilarious how Arnold tricked Sly to do it.
Great impressions minty
Arnold also plays in one of the best whacky comedies of all time.. "The Villian" .. absolutely comedy gold.. Minty, do a 10 things you didn't know about " the Villian " such an underrated movie
If memory serves correctly, Estelle Getty was in the first stage of Lewy-body dementia (something she had been suffering from during the last couple of seasons of Golden Girls) and hadn't really revealed it to many people, so that may explain a few reasons why the chemistry in the movie was off.
This Movie is Beautiful and a Real Accomplishment for anyone that worked in it. Bravo!
Can you please do other Sly movies like Rhinestone, Oscar, Death Race 2000.
Maybe it was popular in Australia because of the major infringement on citizen rights to own firearms there and people went to see it because it had guns in it. Taboo subjects will almost always bring crowds, people tend to enjoy the “forbidden fruit.”
I wanted to rent this movie, because I loved Estelle Getty as a kid. I loved her in it. I do like the movie Oscar, it maybe nostalgia for me, because it would be on cable nearly every day. I would always watch it every time I was home. Well, if I knew it was on T.V.
❤😂😂😂See you at the party Rictor!!😂😂😂 Dude had me dying😂😅😅❤

I always liked this movie too! Saw it as a kid and have had a soft spot for it ever since. Maybe Canada liked it too? Lol
"Dead or alive, you're coming with my mom!"
Me and my brother watched this all the time in the 90s. We loved it!
Biggest con in film history Arnold tricking sly to be in this film
This was great, please do Oscar next. That is such a wonderful movie.
Saw this when i was 6 and there were many memorable/funny scenes ex: she cleans the gun, illegal gun purchase scene, and the big breakfast scene will forever be in my memory bank!
PLEASE make all movie reviews with celebrity impressions from now on.
Hey hey hey!!! Oscar was a great film!
6:14 The Canadian RoboCop TV series from the 1990s actually did feature Alex Murphy's parents in a few episodes, but they weren't comedic. Murphy's father was a retired cop and they had to team up on a case with RoboCop for reasons I don't remember. He eventually figures out that RoboCop is his son.
If you want to see Stallone in a comedy, look no further than "Oscar". Not only is Sly hilarious, but the supporting cast, including Marissa Tomei, Tim Curry, Kurtwood Smith and others, bring their comedic A-game.

I’m with u Minty I have a nostalgic love to this movie. I watched it a lot as a kid. what shocked me that this movie really cost that much to make to begin with P.s. love the Arnie voice 😅
Something I've noticed: Stallone movies tend to be more successful when he's writing than when he's performing someone else's script on camera.

One of my favorite exchanges between characters in any movie or TV show: Joe: You bought a machine gun off the back of a van?! Mom, you could go to jail for this, why didn’t you tell me?! Tutti: Because I wanted it to be a surprise! Joe: It is! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Another great review. Thanks Minty! 👍

Obviously, director Roger Spottiswoode was fired off from the troubled production at Focus Features from the fall of 1992 due to creative differences. Plus, several writers and producers as well as a few other cast and crew members were also fired too. No wonder Universal/Focus had greenlit "Stop or My Mom Will Shoot" in the first place. After that, many of them were doing lots of television in the mid - 1990's with better success all around with the expection of Sylvester Stallone with whom have great success with the "Rocky," "Rambo" and "Expandables" film franchises.
It was one of my favorites.
