This is actually my favorite of the series. Great soundtrack, hilarious & I love the dynamic of Foley, Taggart & Rosewood all working together. Eddie Murphy's quick wits & lines were dialed up. It's a fun, feel-good movie to me.

It definitely has its good bits. The first one is grittier and more realistic. The whole nonsense with the coded Alpha bet crimes which he solves on his own in his head and the wanker Police Chief who just hates everyone and makes an arse out of himself the whole time isn’t really necessary. They could have just had an ongoing thing about him Dogging Inspector Todd back in Detroit if they felt a need to have someone break balls as a side story

the "pool party" scene where Taggart slipped and fell in was the funniest scene in an already excellent movie. and funny enough, it was rumored that Taggart was originally supposed to have been pushed into the pool (most likely by Rosewood), but when he simply slipped and fell in, Tony Scott and the other crew member lost it with laughter and kept it in the movie.
My Mom is in this movie! She's at the Mansion when Axel yells "Max kills cops for a living" to everyone. She and her friend Sandy look up from their tables and get focused on for just a second but I've always enjoyed showing my friends :)

Out of all the Beverly Hills Cop trilogy, Beverly Hills Cop 2 is my favorite.
My cousin was having a movie & pizza night and picked up 'Maximum Overdrive' to watch. We weren't ten minutes in, and we kids HATED it! She wanted us to finish watching, but we made a huge stink and I offered to drive the 20 minutes to town and get something else. The girl at the Blockbuster had never had a movie return so quickly, so, to keep from having to refund the money, she let me have 'BHC2'. I took it back home, popped it in, and ALL of us were head over heels for Axel and the gang. I must have watched this movie dozens of times and it never gets old. 10/10

How the Hell does one hate Maximum Overdrive?! I mean, Beverly Hills Cop 1-2 were leagues better, but still. It's freaking Tremors with way more blood and cheese. It's like saying Critters sucks...and that's just awful. ;) Addendum- How the hell did the army truck with the M60 gun people down? The M60 cannot be operated without a person swiveling and firing it. In reality it would be bouncing all over the place as it wasn't locked down or being held. Oh, and what's up with the kid spraying the drive thru speaker? He shoots it and is like "I got my revenge!" what?!

62-year old living in the States. I've been a subscriber for a while and really like your videos. I had to comment because I like Beverly Hills Cop II the best, also. And I know exactly why. In the first one, they had to establish the dynamic between the 3 characters, the camaraderie. In the 2nd, they are old friends who trust each other, care about each other and work (sort of) 😁together. You see the chemistry in the 2nd movie that you couldn't possibly see in the first because they start out as working against each other. It's just a really good movie.

Nice one, Minty. I remember the original run of this movie was HUGE! In my neighborhood it stayed on the theater's marquee for over a year! Unheard of at the time when most films spent three months at most.... *#11* ~ Nielson was married to Sylvester Stallone at the time. She was offered the part in Beverly Hills Cop 2. But was very reluctant to take it. It was Stallone who convinced her to take the part. Saying the film was going to be huge, and would give her massive positive exposure in Hollywood. He was right.

"6 foot women grow on trees here Axel!" 😆 The 80's had some of the best movies and this is one of them. Thank God i grew up in such a awesome era, no regrets!
I always see them both as one story as apposed to separate because regardless of all the badassery the evolution of friendship between the characters is brilliant story telling.
I can't tell you how much joy it brought to my heart to hear you say that you liked this movie even more than the original. I've seen both movies multiple times but I always have a lot more fun with BCH2 than the first one. It's like you said, they took what worked in the first and polished and perfected it. One of the facets of the movie I truly adore and found to be the most clever was the gag where Axel uses some type of prop to get money but then find a way to seed it back in a positive way. Paying back Rosewood for using his bag of vitamins, the left over $100 bill to pay Chris Rock to park the cement truck and Gottfried's character's $200 that he donated to the mayor. Even more clever was how the amount increased along the way. I can't help but think that the final amount of $320 wasn't by accident and has some type of meaning to the director, producers or one of the writers. Maybe it was Eddie. Maybe $320 was all he had left in his bank account just before he got started on SNL. Regardless of whether someone thinks the original is better or the sequel I think we can all agree that the third movie is shit.

Growing up this was my favourite BHC, as I’ve grown old I appreciate the original more and more but see them as both just as enjoyable to watch as each is the same but different, I know that’s a contradiction but they do both feel unique but cut from the same cloth. Great episode Minty!
You're not alone, minty. #2 is my favorite of the Trilogy
LOVE the bulk of Tony Scott’s films. True Romance and Spy Game were 💯. This is also my favorite BHC
BHC2 is one of my all time favourite 80’s movies
All the stars were at their peak during BHC2. Murphy as you said. John Ashton was in demand as a "tough guy dufus" who could be a cop or a crook or whatever. You mentioned Midnight Run and Ashton was in that as the rival bounty hunter trying to scoop DeNiro's contract. Juergen Prochnow had gotten on the map from Das Boot and Dune. Ronny Cox was in a lot of stuff at that time, usually playing villains. Brigitte Nielsen was at or near her height, almost as high as those legs of hers ;-)
"THAT DAMN FOLEY!" will always be the 3 films ultimate running gag
I remember liking BHC2. Now I feel like watching the first one, this second one, and then Lethal Weapon 1 & 2! 80's action GOLD!
I like Beverly Hills Cop II more than the first too. I think Eddie Murphy is still really funny in this role, and I love how him, Judge Reinhold and John Aston have more of a three musketeers dynamic going on throughout the film. And TBH this is one of Tony Scott's most underrated films next to Days of Thunder and my personal favorite, The Last Boy Scout.

I remember watching these movies soooo many times in my teens. I'd say I saw these movies as many times as I've seen the back to the future movies.
That Stallone impression cracked me up. Hilarious.
My favorite. Love Bridgette in this. Murphy is at his peak. Soundtrack is also great. Side note Cobra is a classic and that poster is a must have!
I always loved Beverly Hills cop 2 . Even now will still watch it when it comes on TV . Tough to say if it’s better than there original but it’s great in its own way
Dude! That Stallone impression was hysterical! 😂
That little Stallone impersonation was hilarious. I didn't see that one coming.
I agree! This is my favorite beverly hills cop movie!!
1 & 2 are both great, I enjoy watching them anytime. The third one we could have done without.
Nielsen was in Corba too. Bob Seger has played Shakedown in his concerts since then. Still sounded great in 2019 last time I show him in concert
Your Stallone impression😂😂😂
BEVERLY HILLS COP II is my one of my favorite Tony Scott movies. And it is my favorite Bev Hills Cop movie! It's on Paramount Plus in it's proper aspect ratio! Thank the maker!
That was a kickass Stallone impression!
I love all the BHC movies, the perfect 80s cop films
This is my favourite in the franchise too Minty! I loved Brigette Nielsen’s Bond like villain made it for me!
In the 80s and early 90s Beverly Hills Cop II was everywhere. It was the one my dad watched the most. Nowadays it’s rarely talked about. I personally don’t like it as much as the first, but that’s here no there, still a solid film. PS love the Hunger. And Tony Scott later directed George Michael’s One More Try Music video in a great southern land called Australia. ;)
I’m my bubble of friends we loved the movie about as much as the original. Keep up the good work Minty!!
the beverly hills cop movies all had kick-ass soundtracks
I'm with you, part 2 is amazing and a timeless classic.
I agree i love the second one, Great ending with the guy hitting the window.
Fun Fact: *"Beverly Hills Cop II"* is the only film in the trilogy - soon to be a tetralogy - that got a novelization. It was written by the late Robert Tine, who also wrote novelizations for '80s & '90s films like *"Footloose",* *"Universal Soldier",* the first 2 theatrical *"Beethoven"* films, *"Red Heat",* *"Basic Instinct",* *"Outbreak",* *"Demolition Man"* and so on & so forth.
Hand's down Beverly Hills cop 2 was my favorite as well one of the best all time classics😊
I always felt Cop 2 wasn't appreciated enough for being so different from the original. Tony Scott (rest his soul) did a damn good job with this. I like Cop 2 more than part one... 🤷🏾♂️
Hey Minty!…I agree….BHC 2 is brighter and more energetic than the first one which is by comparison a bit darker and grittier somehow. Now part 3 is a different story…gosh…
I loved this move at least as much as the original. It was indeed fun...and funny.
I, too, really like Beverly Hills Cop II as much as the first one! You're not alone, Minty...

I agree. The third one just didn't feel the same to me.
Beverly Hills Cop II is a movie that sort of slipped through the cracks with me for a long time. First off, in 1987 I was only 8, and not really allowed to see R-rated films. Although there were certain exceptions. But by the time I was a teenager I was seeing them, saw the first film, and loved it. Around that same time, Beverly Hills Cop III came out and I saw it in theaters. I think I’m one of the few who really loved that one too. But the second film I probably never even saw until the late 90’s. By that time, being nearly 13 years old, my opinion was sort of “Eh, I liked it. But it didn’t blow my mind or anything.” I still like it today, but I think had I been at least a teen in 1987 and seen it in theaters, I’d have really liked it a lot more. Today it sort of fascinates me, as one of those movies that’s part of a franchise that I love, that sort of slipped through the cracks.

I totally agree with you, this is my favourite Beverly Hills cop movie. Love it.
Honestly love the entire trilogy! Loved coming across any of these on TV as kid.
I agree Minty 100%!!! My favorite of the Beverly Hills Cop movies!!!
Having a Ferrari in the opening scene was clever for a number of reasons. It establishes Foley's undercover character as a rich outsider since a proud Detroit local would probably drive American. It also references (maybe even mocks?) the glamourised inspector image of Magnum PI. Finally, Tony Scott's love of the Ferrari brand is how his brother Ridley persuaded him to start his directorial career in the first place ("You'll be able to buy one in a year").
I remember going to watch this in the theatre with my family, this is a great 80s movie!
This was the best of the series. Maybe because I saw it first, but I always loved it. It is also what got me into 80s synth pop music
The 2nd is my favourite of the 3 and it's probably down to Tony Scott's direction. I love his style, may he RIP...
I agree what all you said about Beverly Hills Cop II. This is my favorite in the Cop series. This is another reason why i think Tony Scott is one of the greatest directors out there.
1&2 are so fun! I love both and hoping to see 4!
Your Stallone impression was hilarious and suitably authentic
I love this movie. I might also add that this is the best version of Billy out of the whole trilogy.
I've always loved the 2nd about as much as the first one. Both are classics in my opinion.
Beverly Hills Cop II is underrated. I also liked that they brought in Bridgette Nielsen as the femme fatalé.
"Your undercover eyes on the scene Mario Andretti Freeman WRECKED THE DAMN FERRARI!" line by Inspector Todd always had me mad rolling😅😅😅😅😅😅

Beverly Hills cop will always be special to me because that was the first movie that me and my wife went to see when we starting dating in 1987 and I also like it better than the first one
I was 12 when this came out. I never saw it, but I remember the theme song "Axle F". Given I never saw the movie, I never realized it was named for the lead character. Thanks for that info!
I Love Beverly Hills Cop 2. RIP Tony Scott
The first two movies are GREAT! I grew up in Detroit in the 80s. Eddie gave us a character who we could be proud of. Detroit is always panned for being riddled with crime. Seger is from Detroit too.
With the Shakedown song being used in the opening credits scenes was mint..esp with Foley is driving the Ferrari on the roads
