Yes, being classy is not the same as being rich. My husband and I are not rich but we make a comfortable living. I don’t buy luxury bags or shoes or clothing. But I do buy clothes that fit well, are timeless, and modest. I also sit and speak like a lady. I don’t slouch, and I walk with confidence. I speak kindly and respectfully to others. These are all things my parents taught me.

I worked for really old money families in Manhattan. The men were not around much, but the women were always extremely smart, kind, well rounded and well traveled, never wore anything with logos or flashy jewelry, many got blowouts and manicures but no polish, they walked everywhere on the UES (car and driver were to take the kids to school and classes) and did not brag. Example: instead of saying they were going to their mansion in the Hamptons , they would say “we are going out East for the weekend”. If someone is very flashy, braggy = new money.

A few things that come to mind before even watching the video: being rude, staring at people, gossiping, bullying, behaving like a narcissist, lacking empathy, lacking curiosity about the world and about learning and understanding new things. In terms of materialistic matters I think it comes down to hygiene, and being resourceful. Respect is a key word for class. Respect for your body, for other people, for nature, for your environment.

Well summarised @Terry Starr, basing on some comments on this videos do you think this is turning into a misinformation, hate enabler channel? I worry that Racists will end up being comfy here & I might not be able to pay a blind eye.

Making people feel comfortable could be a sign of people pleasing attitude, no need for humor so you could be seen as nice. Class means healthy mindset which equals to be firm at times because being assertive is healthy. Reciprocity is also important to understand, you see people for what they are, not for what you want them to be. Demanding kindness or going over the board with kindness often means insecurity and not healthy self-esteem. Act apropriately in given situation, not going out of your way to be kind, because kind is something you either are or not, it doesn't have a scale as many seem to think.

Generous people usually live longer and are happier, even if we don't have much there's always something we can give: kind words, a genuine compliment when appropriate... You said it all "Please" and "Thank you" are simple and yet powerful words. Displaying good manners and treating others with consideration and respect is a must no matter the social class or type of car we drive, that's possible for anyone! I really love this. Harry did us a favor. He demonstrated that just because you live in a very nice house doesn't mean you're not a shack inside. The thing about what a lot that you and others teach is basically how rich people get rich. You have to have wisdom and decorum. You have to know when to keep your mouth shut. How to say things. Those people end up with money. Like you said. Only certain kinds of people should have access to The trick is to be that kind of person. When you get there, what you need will come. I wish I were your age. Or younger even. I wish I'd been smart enough to pay attention to these things when I was growing up. But it's never too late. I like the old money style because it's not terribly pretentious. It looks good. Wears well. You get your money's worth. But it's not showy. Doesn't draw attention For the wrong reasons. And I do aspire. Thank you for making videos like this.

People with class don't do what you're doing Anna. People with class do not accuse or criticize others that they do not have class because they have behaved or said something inappropriate at some point in their lives. Instead of crucifying others, people with class try to understand what that person is going through in life, the high level of stress, family and social rejection, anxiety, pain, depression and the pressure that a human being is feeling. , all that can make a person say inappropriate things at some point in life. Is it that no one has ever said something to others that they shouldn't have said and then regrets. If someone is free from sin, then let them cast the first stone.

Love these pointers! I have always been an observer and much more of a listener than a talker and recently went on a first date with a new fella and he refused to pay. That for me is a person who is tactless and has no class whatsoever. I personally dislike people who boast, talk endlessly, dislike animals and show no compassion or empathy. That for me is a person who lacks refinement and better to be alone than being with someone like that. Also, in my experience people are very good at putting up a pretence but their true colours eventually show and I always have the courage to walk out.
