I just got my locs over the weekend. I'm trying to prevent myself from touching my hair by wearing skull caps and durags periodically throughout the day.
I am eleven and I have had locs for ten years my mom takes care of my hair and so do I she knows everything about locs
Finally... someone speaks like me! I keep telling people that I treat my locs as a plant. That mentality has made my hair healthy and wonderfully soft.
I agree with this advice girl. Just keep it simple, wash, moisturize often and your locs will be fine😆

Nekoda Phillip what do you use to moisturize?
@isabelleduval4743
4 жыл бұрын
Dawanna Killer13 I have micro locs and I’m super scared of build up so I used (purified people vouch for distilled though) water, rose water, and coconut oil. And then I just oil my scalp once a week after I wash my hair. You should moisturize your hair based on what your hair needs though. Some people with color treated hair would probably moisturize their hair differently.
I love how you explained things that I have tried to explain to some people who have done locs longer then me but makes mistakes
You are a true breath of fresh air. I have been loc'd 15 years and you are right! Less is more. You are stunning gf!!

10 weeks into the journey and it’s so hard for me to me to keep my hands out my locs! I’ll definitely be mindful of this, thank you for the tips! New Subscriber😊
I am new to my loc journey.I have had my locs for almost 5 months,and I totally agree with you that locs are unique to each person who has them. The person who started my locs didn't tell me to wash mine she would wash them when I went on for my retwist.I was my hair on my own now. I also agree that you can't listen to what everyone else says or does. Your locs are beautiful. Thank you for this video.

Mesmerized by your beauty. Thanks for your advice , I have had locs nearly 15 years now. I have retwisting my self almost as long. I think I understood my hair now , but good to hear advice.
Very helpful, and just a beautiful person, and very Sincere and honest,bless her 🙏🏾❤️
I remember when I went to the beach and I had dreads and I was drunk and I laid in the sand. I was taking sand out of my hair forever and I still don’t even know if it came out. But definitely don’t do that.

Thank you, this is very informative. I started my journey on my birthday; 1/22 and I’m struggling with keeping my hands out of my hair. Now I know not to do it dry. The person that started my locs did an awesome job; but she moved. I found a new person, but I guess because my locs are so frizzy and my top is not locking, she told me not to wash my hair. She said if I want it to grow and loc I should not wash it. 😔 I listened. It’s been 3 weeks and my head feels nasty 🤢. I will take your advice. Again thank you.
This was a good video. You can never know too much or have too many perspectives. Thanks😄
So glad I found your channel. I started my locs June 1st, 2019. Now I know what not to do to my locs.

Hi. I've been seriously thinking about starting a loc journey.... and I wanna do it this saturday, so, here I am, tryna do my research.
Thank you. Really good tips. I started my journey February 13th, 2019.
I am a new subby and I just had to tell you that you are absolutely gorgeous!! I love your complexion and your makeup is flawless. ❤️
I have to wash my hair every few months cause I don't have the means to do it more often . Struggles of a quadriplegic .
Finally!!!!!!!! Someone with locs that’s tender-headed!! I am 13 months into my journey and I get told A LOT to style my locs but I don’t bc it hurts!! I just retwist them after each wash and they stay twisted for two weeks. Then I take them apart and wear them crinkled until my next wash! Thanks for posting!!

Hey I have started my locs Seven weeks ago and I’m a little worried that my loction isn’t the best because some of my starter logs are chunkier in the middle then they are at the root of the end, what should I do? Is that the starting process before it locs or something 😭
@BeSpiffyBeYou

How far are you in your journey? When you’re in the teenage stage and you get a retwist... it may not look how you want it to look because once you retwist and wherever it is budding, it will poof back out.

@BeSpiffyBeYou

You’re welcome! You should DEFINITELY wash your hair after 3 weeks, 4 weeks max of starting your locs. Never wait super long. To have healthy locs, you have to have an healthy clean scalp. You can help prevent your locs from unraveling when washing by putting on a stocking cap of some sort. If you’re not comfortable with the current loctician or person who does your hair, definitely find someone who you trust and does your locs the way you like
Forget the locks how is your skin so perfect 😭

Hey Family! Y'all would be so shocked what some people do to their locs.. Your loc journey is NOT something that is complicated, so don't make it. Less is always more. What are some crazy things you heard or seen someone do to their locs? AND what are 2 things that you know you shouldn't do with your locs?

Informative tips in this video. I agree with you 💯. Thank you for providing sound advice for both new and seasoned loc wearers. This content pretty much covered half the crazy things I used to do to my locs in the past. In all my years of wearing locs, & learning about my hair, 2 things for me to avoid on my new interlock journey are to never interlocked on dry roots, & avoid washing my hair too much after swimming in the pool 3x's a week.

You are gorgeous, esp. your smile & your makeup is slayed! Thanks for real RIGHT info. My son just started his loc journey 8 weeks,ago & the first time at the salon she used brown gel. It was so much his hair color looked brown & it flaked a LOT. Since then we've used a lighter weight gel? Almost clear & his hair is MUCH softer & not flaking.
"You over here rolling in sand"😂😂😂 idk why that was so funny Very informative, thank you for this video!
Loved the makeup 💯❤️
Great vid! Excellent info! Thank you!
I just finished twisting my hair this morning. I have never washed my hair that often before. I also don’t get as much build up in my hair because I don’t use a lot of product in my hair. I have had my break off before for failing to keep it moisturized. As long as my hair is hydrated and I eat healthy, it will grow like crazy. I used a leave in conditioner and coconut oil and Jamaican castor oil in my hair. Occasionally, I’ll use some Shea butter with essential oils, coconut and castor oils mixed in it. My hair thrives on that as long as I keep it detangled.
I just started my loc journey and you make it so simple. I’ve only had it done for about 4 days and I’m iffy about just using oils and water on my hair for moisture. I am slightly paranoid because it’s new for me but with your advice I think I can do this! Thank you 😊 ☺️
I've been waiting on this one 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The only thing I would add cause you did so so good !! I would say don’t deny yourself water !! It really made a difference for me ! Intake water ❤❤❤ changed me

3:28 THANK YOU... when I started my locs, I washed my hair within 1.5 to 2 weeks after starting them and at least every 2 and longest is 3 weeks... I ALWAYS thought that was a crazy concept. I locced my son's hair at least a decade before I did mine( he is no longer loced) and NEVER waited that long either.. That is just common sense.. Our hair locced is kinda fluffy and light..Peace .
I didn't expect this beautiful queen

Thanks for this video. My grey hair is dyed with henna leaves which give it a reddish brown color. Once I wash my hair, I have to reapply the dye. This is what makes me wash my hair every 2-3 months. My edges are receding or balding probably due to age, so I apply black castor oil like daily.

I'm 7 months in on my loc journey The retwisting dry caused my hair to break a few years ago when I had extentions I don't do any experiments on my locs at all I try not to trim my hair to often I'm doing wick locs so I waited a few weeks before running my hair under water My locs are long enough to do styles yet I just have my locs out and free Never tried to do the diy stuff just cause I don't want to damage my locs I run my hair under water every few days I go for maintenance every 6 months and dye my hair every 2 years (no bleach) I only do one colour in my hair red my hair pulls red naturally so I just stick to that colour I go to a loctian to do my locs I ain't messing up my hair by doing it myself Before I started I knew what I wanted to do with my locs I knew my lifestyle and the job I had and I thinking long term at least 10 years and then go from there Thank you for the great advice I love your locs they look amazing
