With castile soap add coconut milk and tea tree oil, olive oil, and a few drops of other oils and make your moisturizing shampoo and you can freeze in ice cubs.

I recently started my loc journey and I'm in my 9th month. I brought a loc gel but didn't like how it felt on my fingers. I recently made my own gel with aloe (the plant) and an essential oil mixture and it came out great! As a shampoo I like the Kenya Moore product line. Because as a person newly locked I have lots of dryness and frizz. But the aloe has helped to reduce the frizz on my re twist.

conditioner is my enemy since I have very fine hair. Instead, I use Paul Mitchell clarifying shampoo 3 (clarifier) 1x a month, dr. bronner peppermint biweekly washes, shea moisture shampoos, Jane carter leave in conditioner spray (daily moisture), jane carter loc holding spray (retwist), diy aloe juice spritz, diy herbal hair rinses and sprays ... oil is my best sealant ... avocado oil, coconut oil, olive oil, argan oil..u name it..lol. Recently, I've been trying alikay and tgin oils..love them.. I'm just like you.. no to parabens, sulfates, or any artifical stuff on my locs but as for my edges I use gorilla snot to slay.

I don't know if anyone has already mentioned this but, just a tip with the Dr. Bronner's soap, you have to use a rinse after you shampoo to neutralize the effects of the castile soap. They sell one on their website or you can mix apple cider vinegar and water and your hair will soften immediately.

Oh wow. I wanted to try Eco, but I was afraid that it would be a flaky mess. I'll give it a try. When my "stylist" first twisted my locs, he used a mixture of setting lotion, pressing oil and mousse. My hair was so crunchy and rigid. It looked like they were just twists, and that's what everyone else who saw them thought, also. He also used spritz, which tried my scalp out to the point where I could barely touch it without writhing in pain. Currently, I've been using various waxes and gels, and they've been awful tbh. Lots of buildup and the hold has been getting weaker and weaker. I want to try that Eco asap. This has given me some very helpful ideas.

I love the honesty in this video. My products have changed over the years as well. I started out with anti itch oils, carrot oils and a few other things that I cannot remember. Now I incorporate Coconut, Jojoba, Argan, Olive and a Carrot Serum into my moisture routine. I use the Argan Oil that you had in your video as well, but for it to really penetrate my locs I have had to mix it with other lightweight oils. I also use Castor Oil but organic Haitian Castor Oil and I tend to use it when I do a deep hot oil treatment; I mix it with fresh aloe vera gel and the Shea Moisture black jamaican castor oil leave in conditioner; it always leaves my locs very moisturized. I also have found that using a leave-in that I usually dilute with water in a spray bottle gives me extra moisture as well. I want to try the Dr Bronners shampoos but they don't sell it here the Bahamas so I will have to import it because I've heard its so good. But I loved your over the years to the present product review...Great video!

I understand...I was on the fence about conditioner too but I wash it out with hot water and I don't get any build-up.The Shea Moisture one that I mentioned is super lightweight though. I even used it for a retwist a few months ago. But I realised that for my hair texture I need extra moisture, I battled with dry hair because it's color treated; and the diluted leave-in works for me.

new to the loc game since 11/01! been using the hydrotherma naturals product line...so far so good. the last wash i didn't use conditioner bcuz it was causing build-up (for me) but the clarifying shampoo, hair lotion, growth oil, etc -all very good. your review was great! i've always got a jar of eco styler, olive oil and black castor oil around the house! good to know you stand by them, in case my own locs need some reminders of where they came from lol! ❤️

Hey, just want to say that when I used that ECO gel with Argon, it REALLY MADE MY HAIR FLAKEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! But not to diss your video, it was great and helpful!! I'm getting the rose water soon, heard it smelled good and was good to moisturize the locs with along with other oils. Another great product I saw was the essential oils and it is something I heard to mix with the rose water also. I'm trying to find a natural loc gel or product for my hair. I'm glad how you mentioned the parabens crap, because I read that it was a carcinogenic. Really looking for a great shampoo, just bought the Tea tree with peppermint shampoo but haven't used it yet. Thanks for mentioning a shampoo to use. I'm greatful for your video, keep it up!!!

Love the video. This is my 4th time on a loc journey. Successful past journeys. But those past journeys were no youtube. Evrything i did was through trial and error. Always loved my locs but hated the build up. Also didn't have all the amazing products of today. I seen your locs probably 3 years ago. And fell in love with the idea of loc journey again. I want to do the journey again to see the potential of beautiful debri free locs. Thanks for the info. I dont want to put a damper on your info, but check out a video by a youtuber who did a VERY EXTENSIVE research on eco styling gel. I was shocked. I will find her. I cant remember her site right now. But thank you again for your info. Be well be blessed.

I've been looking for the perfect no build up twist solution and aloe Vera sounds perfect. I don't use any other products at this point except dr. Bronners baby sensitive soap. The moisturizers in there does so good for my sons dreads. It cleaned his hair so well. I follow up with a a really nice braid oil spray by better braids. It has peppermint castor jojoba olive avocado and vit a,d and e.

+Des Jeff I still have yet to get my hands on the Aloe plant! I think I'm going to just just retwist with coconut oil this time, I want to see if my retwist still hold whether I use gels or just water/oil... but definitely going to try out the gel from the Aloe itself

I've use soooo many things lol I let the African braid shop start my locs initially I followed suit with using bees wax and that horrid pro style brown gel. I've used the mango and lime gels and shampoo omg and the creme of nature which unraveled me lol. I moved on to design essentials products which were good, and alternated between that and taliahs products. Today is the day I purchase new products so I'm gonna try the Castile soap and wild grow (my sister swears by it) and use rose water in my beard

Dr Bronner dried my Locs real bad. Went through so many bottles of oil because it was so dry. Had to stop using it, couldn't take the dryness and itchiness. However it did clean my Dreads very well. May use tiny amount once a year to deep cleanse but that's about it for me.

Your hair can itch for a number of reasons, and sometimes it can be your hair not agreeing with a product you’ve used. You want to find products that work best with your hair, but that is also healthy for your scalp. I wouldn’t suggest the mango and lime brand. You can use alcohol free witch hazel using a spray bottle to apply to the scalp

Would you recommend the Twisted Sistas Shampoo over Black Soap with Oil mixed in? If yes, why? What do you do between retwists to keep your locs looking tidy?

  • @BeSpiffyBeYou

    @BeSpiffyBeYou

    7 жыл бұрын

+W. Erica Christopher ahh... twisted Sista makes my hair feel great and so does the black soap, that's tough. They are great alternative when looking for natural shampoos. I wash mostly every 2 weeks or sometimes 3 weeks but I don't retwist until over a month or longer. I usually just curl my hair with perm rods or pipe cleaners or braidout (I did this for the first time and love it) and my hair looks amazing without retwisting.

great videos! been watching you for a little over a month now. I just got locks im reaching 3 weeks tomorrow. I backcombed and interlocked at the roots. Im middle eastern so my hair is wavey/a little curly. Ive been using dry shampoo and about to get it retwisted at week 4. Any recommendations on when to give my baby locks a full deep wash? should i wait until after the retwist or do it now? they are looking good and laying down but are starting to frizz at the roots alot and some off the locks are frizzing as well. Any advice would be great! Keep it up.

You can definitely wash your locs now.. especially since you interlocked, it's even better for you because you don't have to worry about it unraveling.. always listen to your hair, of course don't wash too often otherwise your hair will be super dry and brittled
