    Ford is treating the frunk lid as if it’s an engine hood with the double pull safety interlock. It’s way cheaper for Ford to pull readymade parts from their existing parts bins.

    Makes sense, but supposedly they just need to make a software update to get it to open remotely. So practicality is there.

    This is wrong. If the hood can fly up and block the view out of the front of the car, it will ALWAYS need the physical second lock. That’s just the rule for all cars and trucks, period.

    I don’t have that problem with the pre-set radio settings. Agree with the Frunk release. I am surprised you didn’t mention not having the rear cargo release as one of the set “buttons” on the display screen.

    I heard from another viewer that if we push the preset button on the drivers door panel, it'll change the radio back to normal quickly. Nice feature I'm using now. For the trunk release, I'm so used to going to the car icon, pressing "access" and hitting the release button. Doesn't frustrate me.

    I’ve had my Mach-E since March 2021 and I haven’t had many of the problems you’ve listed. My previous car was a 2017 Ford Fusion Energi Platinum which uses the same navigation system so I can say from experience that the Mach-e navigation issue is a Microsoft Sync issue (which is Ford’s operating system) that’s a problem with all their cars that use it. My two issues not listed are 1) the location of the hazard button on the center console next to the arm rest results in a lot of unintentional times where my hazards get turned on. Putting it somewhere on the dashboard makes more sense. 2) the air conditioning vent to the left of the 15.5” center tablet and next to the right side of the steering wheel is partially blocked because of the tablet and steering wheel so you don’t directly feel the air blowing on you compared to the other vents in the car.

    Its called under promise over deliver. I dont know to many people who would be upset their car charged faster lol. But people will be upset if it takes longer that the car said it would. Its not about trying to be super accurate its about people not getting disappointed. Also you can check the state of charge with the app so if there is a situation where you want to leave sooner you can check earlier and see what the charge state is. This is the same reason Ford asked the EPA to use the lower range mileage while Tesla uses the longest estimate. Its better to get more range or faster charge times than advertised than less range or longer charge times.

    Thank you for your Mach-E videos. They are very helpful. As for the manual frunk release, it could be a legal requirement to have the double pull system. You usually need a release pull and then undo the latch with your hand or as done in this car, pull twice purposely. The reason being if the hood opens for whatever reason, there is still the second lock to keep it down and prefend it from blocking your view while driving.

    I got mine last February and it has been a honeymoon up until this video. LOL The range issue is best explained by KZreadr Bjorn Nyland who recognizes that Mach-e does not charge in a flat curve. Shorter sessions, when possible, save time by unplugging before the KW rate drops. I love the 140KW~ rate at first, but that is reduced to the 40KW~ when approaching 80%. My long distance trip coordinated Plug Share, EA, and Ford to optimize the best charging options. Ford APP - yeah it is slow so I use it for reference to status but not interactively. Regen - a KZread video warned us early on that regen could cause passenger nausea, so I stay in Whisper. A lot of improvements came with GT, according to videos, that makes Mach e feel very different from first releases.

    Well, your Mack E is still new. Could those conservative range measures still rely on the factory benchmarks? Could it progressively give a more accurate range as you spend more time driving it?

  • @GetEnergi

    @GetEnergi

    2 жыл бұрын

    Good question. I have just under 10k miles on it. I think Ford programmed it to be conservative even if the average has long history. My overall efficiency is 3.7 mi/kWh for 10k miles. But I believe Ford puts roughly a 10% buffer on that. So they calculate range off of 3.33 mi/kWh. Like I said in the video, its not all that bad, just a small inconvenience knowing I really didn't need to stop to charge on long road trips. I could skip charges every once in awhile.

    Are you in a cold climate? That'll happen if you remote start as well. The range changes based on the temperature. Its not like Tesla that shows "300 miles" no matter the outside temp. The Mach-E keep updating its estimate so if its 70F and you have 300 miles and it drops to 30F in the morning, it'll recalculate to something like 295 miles.

Things like manually open the trunk, I prefer it. the charge port in front is super nice design to me. I don't like Tesla port on the back because you have to back up into the house every night (ladies might not like it). Also, ME is more of traditional car (quiet) with parts available on the market. all other sw issues will be cleaned up fast (tesla did have those a few years back to). Nope, I don't like it. I'm not against electric vehicles. However, I want to simply get into my car, start it and drive away without worrying about calculating energy usage for road trips or being concerned about how accurate the usage of electric power is. When my gas gauge gets low, I stop at a gas station and fill it in five minutes. I don't want to calculate my time to waste when the bloody thing needs a recharge. Also, all the do-dads and electronic b.s. one has to acclimate himself or herself to is simply not worth it to me. I'd like to help the environment but the ev craze has a long way to go before I dump 50k or more into one.

    So you are complaining that you don’t have to wait for your car to charge so long? And who said you and your wife can only eat as long as the car is charging? So it got to some threshold in 10 min instead of 30, big deal. You can charge more and eat slower if your ant, and you’ll have more power. Why is this a nuisance? I’d call it a pleasant surprise rather than getting pissed at the car/Ford. If it was the other way around, you’d be justified in being pissed off as you wait around for the car to charge.

    Sorry, but with software connectivity problems with the phone and fob (as per other youtuber with a model 3 and mache e) and ford dealership refuse to software fix because of car bricking, not having remote ability to open frunk, (only by hood release inside like ice car) stupid shifter using up possible console space and is harder to reach than having on stalk, vertical screen useless for entertainment, inferior charging infrastructure, narrow tires making handling and performance worse, having speed throttled after 5 sec (due to obvious cooling issues although ford lies and says battery usage which would be an owners discretion anyway), less storage and cabin space than a model 3 in a larger heavier vehicle, and poor engineering in a mess of hoses and clamps increasing risks of parts failure and leaks while carrying about dozens of pounds more cooling fluid etc. (see monroe tear down) No dasham or sentry features, no live footage. (which protects car and has saved us and others from being able to prove fault and harm. No future potential for FSD which tesla is so far ahead right now. Ford could not handle curve on highway. It goes on and on. Oh, and greedy dealers try to mark up price 10k and when potential buyer complains to ford exec, the exec tells them just to buy a tesla? LOL. It has happened more than once apparently. NO THANK YOU. YOU WOULD BE A COMPLETE IDIOT TO BUY ANYTHING BUT A TESLA. I CAN TELL YOU FROM EXPERIENCE. P.S. contrary to what probably most people think, tesla charges less than any other oem I have seen for parts costs. Tesla has said that they do not intend to make large profits on service and supercharging. Don't forget that franchise dealers main profits come from Service. They want to rip you off.
