I am a fairly new Army.. it has been 2 years since I found my 7 angels… I am 71 and never in my wildest dreams thought that 7 boys from Korea would capture my heart and soul as they have done… it still amazes me to see so much talent determination love and spirit in these beautiful souls… thank you

Thanks for sharing your 2013 ARMY experience. I turned ARMY in 2019 and felt very sad when I learned about the treatment of BTS. One of the many things that I admire about BTS is that no matter how famous they get they always treat other artists well even if that artist is not famous. There is no need for the negativity. The industry is so hard. Why add to another’s pain? I am thankful that BTS not only survived but are thriving!

I really enjoyed your video! I'm a newer ARMY and am aware somewhat of the accusations and bullying. My question is, has there ever been resources in the Fandom dedicated to educating ARMYs about bullying and how to handle receiving it, as well as avoiding perpetrating it? There has to be a way to get a handle on this issue. I feel if any fandom can affect real change in online spaces, it's ARMY. I would love to see us devote the same energy we've used to break records to make this kind of change.

so true BTS did it themself and not because they wanted to gain something they didn´t even knew how many people was looking at them they thought maybe a few local fans so when ever they would have a comeback it got higher and higher but the book explained how it was up an down in sales the first 3 years it was only after wings that they where constant also beautiful moment in life. and now every kpop groups out there is being told to do the same promotions like BTS and it´s EVERYTHING. they dont only borrow one idea, no it´s all of it. like bon voyage run BTS and behind the scenes and doco and vlogs you name it. and the idol know they have to do it and prepare their image to fit with the concert. it´s perfected image, and new fans a eating it raw. and that don´t feel authentic to me at all. and sure the social media and BTS reputation helped them become popular too but it is nothing like BTS. when you look at how passionate BTS army is compared to other fandoms. i mean we would fly to Antarctica for a BTS concert if that was the only way to se them. we have been through the hardships togehter and that is something so unique. BTS gave birth to Hybe. 1 group earned enough money to build a music company that can compete with the big three. i mean other companies had more successful groups in one label but still BTS sold more than all of them combined. also the many merch we buy is really a LOT of money for hybe id think others have that much sales on merch

Your point about the value of having all of the BTS content available for new fans is so true. As a really new fan, it has been overwhelming, but everything is so good and so entertaining that it draws you in and takes over your life. You feel like you are getting to know them as people, not just as performers, and that connection is powerful. Another interesting point is that BTS is my introduction to K-pop and there is so much intriguing BTS content to consume that I don't have time to explore other groups - not a bad marketing strategy!

You do such a great job organizing your analysis in a clear manner. This chapter was also hard for me to read. It must have felt like for every step forward they were pushed 2 steps back. The funny thing is that all the fandoms that bullied and denigrated them back then are now crying foul because BTS mentioned in general what happened. Revisionist history by miscreants is nothing new, but it always amazes me how hypocritical people can be. Bang PD and his team don't get enough credit in my opinion. The way they nurtured the guys and encouraged them to be different looks inspired in hindsight, but at the time it must have been so risky.

  • @boyskiz

Yes I agree with you like Bang PD and the staff are not given enough credit. The fact is without Bang PD's guidance and love for them BTS will not be in this position no matter how talented they are. It was and still made them for what they are now. He treats BTS as his children and family like he will protect them with his life. That's why it really hurts when the "new" keeps complaining that BangPD or BigHit is not doing enough for BTS. BTS will not be BTS without Bang PD and the team.

I have not read the book yet, but very much enjoyed the video. I find it extremely hypocritical of these fandoms crying foul; after what they put these very young boys/adolescents through, worked so hard, teaming up with other fandoms to what, kill their (BTS) dreams? I did so much reading that I knew one or two of the fandoms, but I know BTS is not looking for payback, not looking for their fans to react negatively, so I have to focus on the success of BTS, but it's hard even now seeing other fandoms try minimize/down play BTS' success, the opportunities that BTS has brought to K Pop. BTS members, staff (Big Hit), I cannot say enough good things about all of them, how strong they are and ARMY for standing with them and often being bullied by other fandoms. ARMY, you are awesome for standing with BTS, stay focused on the good things that happened because you're a big part ARMY of why the good things happened. Continue to spread, good, loving and strong messages!!!

As a 2019 ARMY, I know the basics of everything, but it's good to learn the details from the book. Ch. 2 is hard to read because I feel their despair. I have watched 2014 MAMA so many times, but it hits differently watching it now. I have no idea RM replied to Bobby's diss. I am gonna start ch.3 today so I can watch your Ch3 video this weekend. It's nice to hear from an og ARMY. I get paranoid of who the groups that treated BTS miserably so I don't like any groups from big 3. Only those from the big 3 would have the power to do that or act superior due to their privilege.

  • @lealarsen2017

i think the best part of the book is that they confirm or highlight the issues BTS had that army also saw. you know when a small problem get out of hand and becomes a big problem by the fans. but everything they addressed was how army saw it too we were not overreating. BTS rarely confirm or deny they just let it be so we talk among ourself. i am not a OG so idk how it was back then, but i have seen rise of bangtan and it´s surprisingly accurate, also with the issues and people they meet.

I love how everything was documented thru video….makes me feel like I was really there since the beginning instead of just since Nov 2023. Good for them to review their own progress but also for us to enjoy and learn from. We can see how hard they really worked to get everything perfect. And that they don’t just rest on their laurels they keep growing. They treat everyone w kindness and humbleness.

I am so glad I discovered your channel! I don't normally spend $ on frivolous things as I am trying to save for a house & eventual retirement as I am in my 50s, but I did splurge on this book. I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but am getting my fix from your videos until I have time to sit down and really get absorbed in it. Your explanation today got me a bit misty-eyed. After hearing about their early trials over the past... 4+ years i have fully followed them, I just have to remind myself that these experiences have formed an extraordinary group of kind, talented, funny, driven, young men. Truly beautiful people. I hope wherever their future paths take them, they find happiness and respect. Thank you for sharing your own experiences and insight. 💜

Why is this chapter controversial? I'm not on social media, so I'm not sure what's going on . Why would it be controversial? This is their story. I'm actually glad the members actually addressed them. Btw, thank you for these videos. I love hearing your insight, and I love it that you were there from the beginning. I enjoyed this book so much, I didn't want it to end. I'm reading again now, and actually looking at all the QR codes. I think each of them could have filled this 500-page book.

Thanks for your continued analysis. I am a 15 month old ARMY and the Rise of Bangtan docuseries was how I was able to see and feel how it was from the beginning, which of course used the vlogs. They were amazing to show you what was going on and thoughts about what was going on. Even though hard to read, actually talking about the cyberbullying and the incidents where they named names (just two) seemed gutsy to me. I still don't understand the fan wars, but I was not surprised by those who decided to "revise the history." I'm sure it's still really hard to handle that this group they never liked is a GOAT. There really is nothing that they can do about it, but they seem to want to try. I'm looking forward to listening to all the rest of your chapters!

It's because she revisited the pain she experienced with BTS back then. Those of us who weren't there at the time probably don't have similar feelings. I think it's because BTS don't have victim mentality so they don't want to make it sounds like they were victimized.
