Sorry, but get the facts right. Mt Kirinyaga does not, did not and will never mean Mountain of whiteness. It meant Mountain of god or gods resting place - Mwene Nyaga means god. I think Kilimanjaro had the white thing. I know because I am one of those indigenous people from the region where the mountain is

@kim knightly Kenyans who care about their country and it's history 🇰🇪
@Tuncapoo
3 жыл бұрын
@kim knightly hardly. Civilisations in Morocco aren't the same culture as those in South Africa, aren't the same as those in Egypt, aren't the same as those in Congo, ect. The differences in culture predates colonialism. We should unit as a continent, unite at the borders, unite before outsiders but to claim that there aren't differences between us is just intentionally disingenuous. Kenyan history and culture is very different to Nigeria, so why shouldn't we learn our history... It's like saying that there isn't a different between the Spanish and the Russians, Turkey and Germans, India and China. I'm not a tribalist for the simple fact that I don't care where you come from and I don't believe that anyone is any better or worse for where they are from. I only care about my own ancestral history and that shouldn't stop you from uniting with me or learning about your own. We don't have the proper leadership but we haven't had enough time to find what works best for Africa, its only been 60years since the first independence when places like UK have had 600years to reach what they have now. I personally don't think that a one democracy or dictatorship can work for Africa - just look at America, China and Russia for examples of how that leadership works for the people, it's not good and we're bigger! Better regional leadership, eliminating corruption and taking back control of our resources is what we need first - don't you agree? Ngl. Before this, I hardly knew anything about Gaddafi or Saddam, so thank you for including that, I have a lot of reading to catch up on cos these two people are actually really interesting

From Riruta, Nairobi Kenya🇰🇪.. thanks for this video..
I really miss my country kenya... all the way from rongai
Thanks you guys for loving our diverse country Kenya😍😍😘 You guys from all over the world are welcomed😌😌
In my opinion ...Mt Kenya was reffered to as Kirinyaga because the communities around the mountain region believed that was God's roaming place and also i guess coz of the whiteness coz why wouldn't they just call it mwenenyaga which basically means one with spots bt called it KIRInyaga...I specifically think there is a deeper reason as to why they called it Kirinyaga and not mwenenyaga and maybe it had to do with the fact they believed it was God's roaming place and they wanted a word to complement both characteristics of the mountain ( If you know more you can correct me🙂)
@kinyanjuigichuki1046
3 жыл бұрын
Joy Esther I hope you know Nyaga means ostrich, Mweneyaga is God or the owner of the ostriches( and all beings), Kerinyaga is because of the likeness to the ostrich white(snowcap) and black. So its right or al least part true
@starrjewel5982
3 жыл бұрын
@@kinyanjuigichuki1046 yeah i know Nyaga means Ostrich it's also used as a male name in the Kikuyu community like other animals...and yeah i guess you're right..i think kirinyaga maybe was a combination of it being reffered to God's roaming place and the whiteness coz if it was just the whiteness why didn't they refer to it as mwenenyaga which basically means one with spots
@Kag2025
3 жыл бұрын
Kirinyaga literally (translates) kiri- has,while nyaga-ostrich.. snow created at the top resembled parts of the ostrich while its magnificence brought the thought of (mwenenyaga) which could probably mean the Creator (GodHimself)or the owner of the Ostrich(direct translation) used to reside there as well..All in all we can only keep guessing the actual meaning since just like a huge chunk of african history,sadly-was never documented rather passed on to generations through mouth(stories) and that fact withstanding, significant-substantial facts have been lost while others have been modified by the story "Tellers" to fit 'thier' narrative or for some happy ending..
@stanleymwangi6524
3 жыл бұрын
@@kinyanjuigichuki1046 It's not partly true but all of it! Nyaga also means a crown of light or spots of whiteness too. That's why there is Nyagathanga, a bird that has a white crown at the top of its head.
@starrjewel5982
3 жыл бұрын
@@Kag2025 isn't the direction translation of has Kina bt not Kiri? And yeah that's what i was saying that i also ASSUME since that information isn't documented in depth
