I actually went to that glass shards arm wrestling Smackdown show. On local TV, it was promoted that there was gonna be a WWE Championship match between Triple H and Edge. You could imagine the disappointment my 10 year old self felt when it was an arm wrestling competition for the main event.
Does the Zombie Lumberjack match count as a stipulation? If so, it must top this list. That Eye for an Eye match though...

Strictly speaking WWE did do an Over the Top, Off with the Top Match twice, albeit under a different name. The December 20th 1999 Raw had Val Venis vs Hardcore Holly with B.B. and Terri respectively in the first ever Holiday Topless Top-Rope Match. Truly, a classic for the ages.
Triple H vs. Kevin Nash... In a Ladder Match... except you didn't win by climbing the ladder. You climb the ladder to get the sledgehammer, which you can then use on your opponent. Miraculously, no quads were torn.

Well, Zeppo was the straight man compared to Groucho, Chico, and Harpo's lunacy. He served a very important purpose for the Marx Brothers during their stage days and in their first few movies. The idea that he was "boring" probably just stems from the fact that he never had a major standout scene or bit compared to his brothers.

Kill your opponent with a gun match! 😂 Damn you, Adam! My sides! 😂😂😂
The over the top, top rope, topless match actually happened twice. BB lost the other one but HHH opened his jacket so only he could see her when she took it off.
The amateur wrestling challenge happened twice. Swagger also wrestled Dreamer in WWE ECW in one. That one ended when Dreamer hit Swagger with a DDT causing a dq.
@13kingofawesome
Жыл бұрын
I remember them doing something similar with Swagger and MVP on Smackdown too, also ending in a DQ. But the rules were slightly different and they didn’t have a counter on screen for points so I just assumed they counted as different “matches” despite basically being the same
If you want to watch some actually good "points based" wrestling matches, you need to see the two matches between Taichi and Shingo Takagi for the King of Pro-Wrestling Trophy in New Japan earlier this year. Both are "infinite pinfall" matches, i.e. you don't win on a three count, but the count adds to your total. The matches are slightly different as one is a scored match after 10 minutes and the other is a first to 30 pin-count, but both are qually brilliant in a very surprising matter. Well, surprising if not for the fact that one of the best wrestlers on the planet is involved.
@HACHIAttack
Жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, I watched that match. I think that was on Dominion this year. That's a really cool concept. Also, the KOPW Trophy has a lot of memorable stipulations because that's how you'll fight for the trophy; there's also a 2 pinfall match, a ridiculous sumo match, No Finisher match, etc.. Definitely one of my favorite championships to watch for me.
@armandotorres8962

Dear lord that match was fun. Easily one of the most fun matches of the year. When the stipulation was announced and the first few minutes of the match had, i was expecting it to be a confusing stinker. I'm glad i was wrong. The more it went the more the fans got into it. So much the final minutes were legit edge on your seat wrestling and a great win for Shingo.

The Asylum match isn't even a bad concept. Steel cage, except you climb the cage to get weapons instead of escaping. Cool.
@btf_flotsam478
Жыл бұрын
Shame it sucks in practice. I like Cody's approach of the top of the cage being something to jump off because it's both crazy and the most logical thing for a wrestler to do when he (or she) is on top of a cage. (P.S. I'm only saying Cody did it first because his match with Wardlow is the only one I can name, but I know it happened earlier.)
2:59 as time goes on, I'm getting more and more convinced that the Right to Censor had a point, now you mention it

I always thought Right To Censor was funny in hindsight because their goal was to make WWE a PG product without the scantily-clad women and hardcore weapons. Technically, Right To Censor won in the end.
"Dignity, you can't buy it" I think it says it in the contract that when you enter the show biz, your dignity doesn't come with you.

Never forget that Hornswoggle was first introduced and billed as 'Little B*stard'
I was actually there for Razor vs 1-2-3 Kid, Ted DiBiase was Kid's manager. This was the same card that had Diesel vs Brett Hart in a cage match, where Undertaker burst through the ring and pulled Diesel under. This was in Louisville, Kentucky, at the now-closed Louisville Gardens, which was filled to capacity.

WWE did The Over The Top Off With The Top match twice. The first was in December 1999. B.B. was in the corner of Val Venis, and Terri Runnels was in Hardcore Holly's corner. Triple H was there to get some heat. Kind of like Steven Richards did 6 months later.

There's been 5 of them - the one you mentioned, then Triple H vs Shawn Michaels, Triple H vs Orton, Cena vs Ryback and Gargano vs Adam Cole.
So... the Amateur Wrestling Challenge sounds real similar to the Brawl for All......
You have got to be the funniest narrator I've ever heard lol. Love your videos!
At least we got a funny recipe for the WWF cookbook out of the Kennel From Hell match.
Many (but not too many, yet,) happy returns of the day, Adam!
Wasn’t the eye for an eye match an excuse for Rey to get surgery on his lazy eye that he covered the wound by wearing an eye patch on one eye?
I blame Spoony for willing the stairs match into existence.
Technically The Ambrose Asylum match would have been done thrice. Because that was the blow off to the Pete Dunn/Tony D'Angelo "feud".
"Holiday Topless Top Rope Match" was the other time Terri was involved in the "Over the Top, Off With the Top" stip with Hardcore Holly as her rep versus Barbara Bush - BB - who had Val Venus. Part of why I recall this is like with the second one, someone - this time being Triple H - spoiled the fun for the audience by blocking the final top removal.
I could’ve sworn Swagger did the amateur wrestling challenge a second time vs mvp
I totally agree, that House of Horrors match was an absolute joy to behold
Now do this list for WCW so you can include the single greatest stipulation match ever. The King of the Road match.
"Zeppo Marx was secretly great..." - You are the King. Then, Now, Forever.
Yooooooo, new list literally the moment I opened KZread, let's goooooo
While not technically a match, the Austin/Bischoff “redneck triathlon” challenge was the main marketing focus for whatever ppv that was on and that was utterly ridiculous 🤣
That last line gave me a good chuckle, have a great day Adam.

The Mini Royal Rumble could have been saved if the final entry was the "mini-version" of The Great Khali played by an average-sized person.
It’s a good day when Adam’s voice is heard on a new list
I very much look forward to when Eye for an Eye becomes a yearly PPV and we will be seeing at least 1 Eye for an Eye match every year.
Lol I totally forgot about the summer games relay match on Smackdown in 2004 that flew under my radar TBH 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I always thought that the anything "on a pole" matches were totally dumb. (Thanks Vince Russo.) And I know that this was WCW, but the Judy Bagwell on a Forklift match is soooooooo stupid.
Love u Adam been following since the watchculture wwe days
Summer Games Relay was my first ever WWE show
The over the top-off with the top also happened between Val Venus and Bob Holly on Raw once
TO BE FAIR...the House of Horrors match happened one month BEFORE Jinder became champion...
The eye for an eye thing... maybe just temporary blindness? Like have there be mace that has to be used. The idea of clouds of burning mist in the air adds some hazard to things, especially if there is no actual chemical it is just a harmless dye to make the performers look really damaged from the stuff getting all over them... there is something to that.
Love the Jackbox reference
God damn you for making me remember the Mini Royal Rumble match. I went to great pains to forget that.
The amateur wrestling match thing also happened on WWE ECW with swagger as well
I still think that with the right competitors the Punjabi Prison match could be good. They've had Big Show, Jinder, and Khali though. That's an impossible scenario to overcome for any match type.
Adam, thank you for your contributions. It can’t be easy to keep up with all of these things at the ripe old age of 35
