I really appreciate how this channel does not over-hype itself with clickbait and over dramatise on commentary, and I especially appreciate that in the absolute majority of clips people were not harmed or killed. There are a lot of channels like this on YT but Underworld stands out in it's reporting, thank you.

#7, The owner of the apartment should be thanked for taking responsibility for their residents by housing them and paying for meals until the issues could be sorted out. You don’t see that often without a lot of resistance.

Moral of the story: don’t hire contractors from cultures that cut corners because of corruption and pocketing construction budget money.

And we as Us Americans complain about building codes why it takes so long to build a structure or a bridge ETC is because the US has very strict codes to follow places Like China China being the worst don't follow any building codes cutting conners is very common in China and other country's

I'm pretty sure a few people *could* have predicted the corn silo going up in flames, considering this is one of the dangers of using a corn silo.

Any fine dust ill explode if it's given an ignition source strong enough to ignite it. I worked underground in a colliery, it was a serious issue with great effort made to eradicate the risk. About 20 years ago a custard factory went up not far from where I live for the same reason.

i think underworld has always been the best i always have watched every time i get home ! :)
Those roof trusses look like they were made out of soft wood timber, also don't see any gusset plates jointing all mebers. I suspect some of that may be partially culprit for the collapse with such low load.
Wait. They already had a fire just like it before? Oh, dear.
Wow. I wonder why most of these stores are from India, Pakistan, Iran, Indonesia… and not from Germany, Switzerland or England?

@@rogerstlaurent8704They do, but even developed countries aren't immune to building disasters. Not a building collapse but you may be aware of the Grenfell Tower disaster in London in 2017 which killed 72 people. Highly flammable cladding was to blame. Also just last week an apartment block in Valencia, Spain caught fire killing 10 (to date). Again, highly flammable cladding is thought to be the cause.

My man at 5 minutes was making industrial popcorn 😅
Seems the Taiwanese demolition company just hired casual day workers to demolish the building and really didn’t take any steps to mitigate the risk of collapse PS - Most of these disasters could have been avoided.

“They knew a lot about corn. How to grow it and how to store it.” But they didn’t know, it’s equally as combustable as grain and the smallest spark can ignite it? Nice. Glad nobody got hurt but hopefully next time they stand further away. 4:59
Actually, a lot of people could have predicted that silo explosion, and I'm very surprised that the owners of the silo didn't. Grain silos explode at the slightest provocation. People who fill and empty them ought to be aware of this.

@@tinydancer7426 Because then they wouldn't have been standing that close, and they'd have been spraying water to prevent an explosive dust/air mixture from forming.
The scene at the end is nice.
As a welder, you have to be extremely carful that, before you start work, there is nothing around that might catch fire if a spark land on it. Even then, you need to keep your eyes open incase you do start a fire. You can never be 100% sure nothing will burn in range of sparks. I've started a few small fires, but in those cases the fires would have burned out on their own even if I had failed to notice. There was only one thing I set on fire that suffered substantial damage, but it was especially problematic as it was attached to my body. It was my brand new prosthetic leg. I'd asked them to put the foam rubber cover on with Velcro, not glue, but they glued it by mistake. I was pretty shocked how intensely it burned, I found out later that they were using untreated foam rubber. It was meant to be treated with fire retardant, but in this case it was either mislabeled, or they just lied outright about it being treated. The prosthetist repaired the leg for free, then I went looking for a new prosthetist.
5:43 welp, at least they will have a huge supply of ready to eat Popcorn for movie night now.
If I had to guess, the number one construction building failure looks like it to be a new indoor basketball court or a new school. Maybe someone should make out the blueprints better than they should be.
#3. I remember this kind of thing happening in New York City when some buildings were torn down, what likely happened with the hole where the blue tarp was. The foundation of the shop probably wasn't undermined, but the whole building was probably only standing because the removed building was the only thing holding it up. Note the disconnected/ piecemeal brick construction of at least the first floor and the likely added and much heavier-looking second floor.
Ever seen exploding custard powder 😊

Pop corn. 😂
I remember walking into the science classroom in high school. The teacher was sitting behind his lab bench and he watched until we were all there, chatting with each other. A huge explosion, and a column of flame from a gallon paint can on the desk in front of him. Scared the crap out of us. Paint can, some corn starch, a candle and a hose through a hole in the can wall. One puff on the hose, Kaboom.
Wow! So gravity works everywhere!! Who knew ....

Morale; get proper contractors
10" of snow is not a lot at all. There must be some other reason for the roof collapse.
5:25 That is NOT how you make popcorn!
Back in the 60s in the UK, grain dust and cork dust were used in experiments to research fire hazards caused by static in silos.
Not trying to be mean but that's a whole hell of a lot of popcorn
Damn! Was that grain or rocket fuel!!!😮😮😮
Anybody handling fine grains and dusts should be aware that they are basically fuel and oxygen mixture
You really know how to catch someone’s attention with you’re sentences 😄
"Cosmetic damage" on those cars crushed by the wall? HAHAHAHA! Most looked totaled to me!
If a corn dust cloud that size corn was enclosed in a mostly empty and structurally sound silo when it got ignited it would have literally detonated. It being out in the open saved them. I saw video of a silo explosion where you could see the shockwave flying through the air making clouds like in weapons testing footage or something.
At. 8:24 the gym collapsed. 15 inch of snow at the time. Unfortunately the roof was flat so the snow have NOWHERE to go. Snow can weight a lot.

you sure play a lot of videos you have already shown us here.. But except for that I really like this channel.
Iow quality construction in Asia 😨😱
Uh, there's a bit of an error about the Mumbai Goa highway, no? It really doesn't look like an old viaduct failing but rather looks like the viaduct is currently being built with a launcher (not a crane), with the right side being completed but with its compression cables probably improperly or not yet tightened. And the left side simply being still in the assembly process, with all its segments not yet attached to each other. Numerous bridges and viaducts are built like this, and the launcher assembling the segments (a kind of giant metallic square gantry) normally takes support on the viaduct's piles only. Launcher gantries have mobile "feet" to transmit downward forces to the piles, they lift all viaduct segments of a given section between two piles with cable pulleys. Once all segments are aligned correctly, they are fused together with cement, and cables running through all segments are tightened to form a solid, compressed and strong block. That's how elevated transit lines and highways are built in China or Europe, like the viaduct of the Grand Paris Express. This technique is extremely efficient, fast, and sturdy. So here, they either loosely or plainly forgot to tighten the compression cables and tried to take support on the section that wasn't strengthened. Which led to the failure of the previously assembled section and the fall of the gantry.
I had to keep checking over my shoulder after watching those scary moments caught on camera. They felt too real
On number 8, must be lots of popcorn

Every cloud of dust (no matter what it is made of) is highly explosive. Because the amount of surface contact with air is enormous.

8:22 The Czech republic is in NORTHERN Europe. So, ten inches of snow is no big deal, and certainly NOT a valid excuse for a roof to collapse.

8:15 Almost certainly it had to be torn down. The building fell off its foundation, and though it may not look that damaged, all of the structural supports would have been badly damaged. On top of that, the building would need to be lifted back onto the foundation. It would be cheaper to knock it down and start again from scratch.
