    I really appreciate how this channel does not over-hype itself with clickbait and over dramatise on commentary, and I especially appreciate that in the absolute majority of clips people were not harmed or killed. There are a lot of channels like this on YT but Underworld stands out in it's reporting, thank you.

    As a welder, you have to be extremely carful that, before you start work, there is nothing around that might catch fire if a spark land on it. Even then, you need to keep your eyes open incase you do start a fire. You can never be 100% sure nothing will burn in range of sparks. I've started a few small fires, but in those cases the fires would have burned out on their own even if I had failed to notice. There was only one thing I set on fire that suffered substantial damage, but it was especially problematic as it was attached to my body. It was my brand new prosthetic leg. I'd asked them to put the foam rubber cover on with Velcro, not glue, but they glued it by mistake. I was pretty shocked how intensely it burned, I found out later that they were using untreated foam rubber. It was meant to be treated with fire retardant, but in this case it was either mislabeled, or they just lied outright about it being treated. The prosthetist repaired the leg for free, then I went looking for a new prosthetist.

    #3. I remember this kind of thing happening in New York City when some buildings were torn down, what likely happened with the hole where the blue tarp was. The foundation of the shop probably wasn't undermined, but the whole building was probably only standing because the removed building was the only thing holding it up. Note the disconnected/ piecemeal brick construction of at least the first floor and the likely added and much heavier-looking second floor.

    @KyrilPGАй бұрын

    Uh, there's a bit of an error about the Mumbai Goa highway, no? It really doesn't look like an old viaduct failing but rather looks like the viaduct is currently being built with a launcher (not a crane), with the right side being completed but with its compression cables probably improperly or not yet tightened. And the left side simply being still in the assembly process, with all its segments not yet attached to each other. Numerous bridges and viaducts are built like this, and the launcher assembling the segments (a kind of giant metallic square gantry) normally takes support on the viaduct's piles only. Launcher gantries have mobile "feet" to transmit downward forces to the piles, they lift all viaduct segments of a given section between two piles with cable pulleys. Once all segments are aligned correctly, they are fused together with cement, and cables running through all segments are tightened to form a solid, compressed and strong block. That's how elevated transit lines and highways are built in China or Europe, like the viaduct of the Grand Paris Express. This technique is extremely efficient, fast, and sturdy. So here, they either loosely or plainly forgot to tighten the compression cables and tried to take support on the section that wasn't strengthened. Which led to the failure of the previously assembled section and the fall of the gantry.
