    I just can't believe Rockstar hasn't given more to RDR2 and it's online... It's such an immersive world with so much potential. They put so much into building out this incredible foundation and then just went back to GTA V as a cash cow. I don't dislike GTA V, but it's a disservice to their previous efforts to not do more with RDR2.

    Telltales Walking Dead series really opened my eyes to playing more visual novel type games, but haven't really found one that did it as well as they did. The stories wern't so long or drawn out that you'd lose interest, and the game itself really found the sweet spot for the genre where there were enough movement/QTE sequences to keep you engaged with it, but not so many that it became the main focus. For me personally, it can be a tough genre to get into. It either feels like a QTE game with bits of story thrown in, or it feels too much like a visual story without enough gameplay sequences. Walking dead found that perfect balance in the middle for me.

    I was pretty late to Telltales' The Walking Dead series, but man, what an amazing set of games. The style of gameplay isn't for everyone, but the characters really draw you in, and your choices do matter to a certain extent - Season 1 is fantastic, but the subsequent seasons are still pretty dang good.

    Surprised Elden Ring isn't on this list. Sold more than 20 mil copies, and one of few on the list (like Dying Light) that just came out of nowhere and broke into the mainstream. In fact, it was even more impressive, because it was already niche, and many already avoided Fromsoft games due to them being hard. They completely shook up the gaming formula and it paid off big time, with it being 1 of 3 games to pass 300 GOTY awards. If a random really good game comes out, it has a chance of great success. I do think this is harder to do when a lot of people already avoid a companies games due to the reputation they have. I think the most impressive 20 mil+ sales is Elden Ring imo. The others make sense as they either use a popular genre, or, use a popular long-running franchise. Elden Ring was a brand new game with zero prequels, deffo deserves to be on this list.

  • @Nerf22
    @Nerf229 ай бұрын

    The thing I have noticed about this list is something these games have in common. It isn't graphically mind blowing, but the art direction and story drive is what made them popular! Graphics are important, but they aren't the end all/be all.

    @@siddharthsingh23 no shit buddy. Gta V came out in 2013 and Rdr2 in 2018. For a 10 year old game Gta V does have a lot of details. Also Gta 5 was in development for about 3 years while RDR2 for 8 years. It's meant to better and more detailed than the previous game but saying GTA 5 barely has any details is insane.

    I just finished LOS on PC maybe 3-4 days ago, and after it, oh boy, hard to find the game that can grip you as much. I plan on replaying it on harder difficulties because this game feels to be helluva lot better on higher difficulties. I legit enjoyed character, narrative and combat\stealth mechanics were both satisfying, and this game looks sooo good. Details of the world in this game are just nuts. It's hardware heavy game tho, I literally had to upgrade to 32gb ram to run this game, because it would refuse to start with 16gb ram even with 8gb vram GPU. Ps. I agree, winter arc was pretty good, especially when you finally get to play as Ellie, her sequences were nice change of pace. I wasn't too crazy about that DLC, it was descent and it had some fun dialogues, but it didn't really add that much to the main game.
