South Padre Island is a resort town on a barrier island of the same name, off the southern coast of Texas. It’s known for its beaches and calm waters. South Padre Island Birding and Nature Center is home to a 5-story watchtower with views of migrating birds. The South Padre Island Dolphin Research & Sealife Nature Center offers boat tours and touch tanks. Sea turtles are rescued and rehabilitated at Sea Turtle Inc.

Incorrect we actually have a total of 7 islands including south padre well 8 if you count North padre island But there’s also Galveston island,follet’s island,Matagorta island,San Jose island,Mustang island, And lastly bravos island Texas is huge and beautiful w/ so many hidden gems to be discovered😎🤷🏿♂️👀
I just love South Padre Island I travelled there we my Mom and we had a blast. I introduced her to Margaritas lol.

I lived in Corpus Christi about 2 hours North Shame on me for not visiting SPI. I need to move back home
Awesome place with beautiful fine sand beaches. Was worth the drive all the way from Frisco Texas. Grandchildren had a wonderful Summer break in SPI for 6 days.

Just so you know you can drive on almost every beach in Texas SPIs main area is inaccessible to vehicles. If you like driving on the beach try Port Aransas, Corpus Christi, North Padre Island

@@leonardsheatravel I did! Thanks for the reply. I stayed in a delightful condo that was so much nicer than some of the hotels we looked at and it was the same price too. We did sea turtles, dolphins and took a day trip to see SpaceX while we were there as well. I had fun but was also super relaxing.
We were at SPI in March and loved it. Just booked 2 months next year. Don't remember the name of the "Largest outdoor bar," but the afternoon live music and line dancing was great fun!

It takes a long time to get there from anywhere in Texas. A very long drive, some would say you feel like you had driven across several states. It's Texas.....what I can I say.

Close to Nuevo Progreso Mexico, where winter Texans (and many full time like me) get super cheap dental work, shopping and food. I get a crown and root canal for about $350. Try that in the greedy U.S. Like my dentista says in Mexico, "Dentists in the U.S. are rich from just being a technician." Educated and skilled, the same as those in Mexico, but still, just a tech.
Pirates Landing fishing pier right next to the lighthouse is also a great place to see. Almost guaranteed that you will catch fish if you are fishing, but also a nice little walk or you can take a cruise on a pirate ship.
The Food - Dirty Al's, Kona Sushi, Daddy's etc
Is it expensive to live on south padre island?
The hotels and the fireworks they have there the beach and the dalphins

No mention of Fishing. The fishing is great, get out on the Laguna Madre and fish for Reds, and Speckled Trout. Go to the beach and fish for many other species. Then the Jetties. Go just off shore and Red Snapper. Lots of fishing.

I live in SPI and absolutely LOVE it! I used to visit areas all over Galveston, and it's pretty awful, TBH. Moody Gardens is wonderful, though. But the beach is dirty, tar in the sand...pretty terrible as far as the actual beaches. And the people.
