We went there back in August and it was amazing! We didn't feel like tourist. They treated us like family. Then after dinner we walked over to the boats and went on a dolphin tour. This is a great location!

Get the Botanna Platter if you are a family of 4-5. We get the fish and shrimp with fries and onion rings. You absolutely can't go wrong. This place is not just a restaurant to us, it's a family tradition.

I remember when I was a kid and my family lived in Rio Hondo, we would go to the beach and the sand dunes were so big. The food is awesome and you can't get it any fresher than right out of the Gulf.

I ate at Dirty Al's six weeks ago. Came from Colorado and it was the best fish and shrimp I've ever ate. Next we went to Pier 19 (RIP, burnt down this past week). Huge difference in the freshness. Dirty Al's is number one in my book!!

My friends from Cuero Tx went to the Boiling Pot in Rockport Tx because they and then me watched this guy here. They asked me about the Boiling Pot because lve lived in RP and have had family since the 1950s that still do live there and l answered 'oh heck no'. l went 40+ years ago but the TX gulf still had great seafood then. They went anyway and took pictures. l wish l could share them. They said it was literally awful. They left with a comped meal though they tipped the poor waiter the price of the food because he had to serve it with a straight face. l believe these Texas coast seafood places know this guy is coming and they go to the HEB in town and buy fresh seafood and serve it to him and not the regular frozen crap that comes from their south Texas suppliers. None of it comes out of the Texas coast anymore. The RP marina has been empty of anything but charter fishing boats for decades. The oysters grade toxic and the RP Oysterfest buys them from Loisianna now. Tx had a global seafood industry until the early 90s.

Dirty Al’s is ok. The food can be a little too greasy and the service is hit or miss. Good luck getting seated when you’re really hungry; there’s often a long wait for dinner time. There are plenty of good seafood places in the area, especially in Port Isabel. Oh and you have to stop by SPI Brewery for quality beer and food.
