I think this lens is still and will always be relevant. Reasonably-priced, amazing bokeh, low-light monster, and a superb sharp result. Personally, I really like the sharpness.

You Can’t call it reasonable price, it’s super cheap price for the value and the performance. Reasonable price should be some other canon lenses which cost around $1000

We absolutely LOVE this lens! Well, I finally made the jump and got the R5 and since I am planning to keep my EF lenses for a bit, I got the adapter so I can keep using it with the mirrorless camera. Great detailed review on this master lens Aaron and Wera!

This was my first ever lens! I sold it because the AF seemed to get worse after a few years but it was great at first.

i just got this lense ,ive been mostly doing nature and wild life photography and i needet something smaller than i have now, so i got this so i could do other type of pics too. so cant wait to try it. i have heard a lot good about this small but mighty lense.thanks for video.

Hi, I am a newbie planning to get this as a step up from my kitlens, can it also be used for landscape photography? Also, may I confirm if it can be fitted into an EF-S mount then used again for when I upgrade into a full-frame camera with EF mount? Thanks.

I recently purchased a Canon 70D because I want to do some podcasting from my home office, my set up is on my desk and the camera sits about 1-2feet away, I'll be sitting doing normal talking is this a good lens, I heard something about it not being good for Vlogging

Hi there. If you don't need to walk and talk style vlog it should do ok but ideally you'd want something a bit wider like a 24 or 35mm focal length for vlogging.

I just bought this lens with the Canon 10-18mm f4.5 5.6, both for $125.00 total, to use with my Fringer adapter on both my Nikon Z30 and Nikon Zf. Playing with them on the Z30 first. On my Z30, it is about a 75mm lens (portrait length).

Great Video Rudy. Rudy smooth flow as usual top notch. This is a legendary lens. Cannot beat them those days including the awesome nikon 50mm 1.8.. But this lens can do wonders even today. I should try reviewing the Nikon lens in my new channel.

Thank you! Sorry we don't have a mkii of that lens, but the 50mm is definitely sharper than the mark i version of that lens at 50mm.

I love my nifty fifty ❤it's my favourite lens to take on vacations and to go around the town trying to be a street photographer 😂

Definitely a great choice for street photog!

It is amazing! The only downside is that it acts like a 80mm on my 70D. So, indoors is really difficult unless you need detail shots.

I have an old 58mm, it gives me pretty much 1:1 scale in the viewfinder (so maybe 59mm or 60mm is what my eye sees). :)

Our very first lens 😂 but quickly realized that it's not actually that great for run n gun vlogging. Awesome quality for the cost but I see it more as a photographers tool 🔧 📷 Question do you guys use filmora for editing?

Yeah it's not great really a vlogging lens at all! We use Premiere most of the time but we do use Filmora for our other projects and quick videos/social media etc

Yes it will work great with it but there will be a 1.6x crop so it will be more zoomed in than 50mm.

I'm not planning on moving on to mirrorless cameras yet, I like my canon 80d too much and the best thing is that all the ef lenses are getting so much cheaper now 😁😁

If they're moving quickly, like dancing, the focusing would probably be a bit too slow.

You would need to use an adapter, but there is a Sony 50mm f1.8 that work natively with the ZV E10 :)

If you plan to shoot video then yeah it's best to use it with a gimbal for smooth footage for best results.

I hope mirrorless doesn't kill DSLR. I like a real viewfinder! An EVF just isn't as good, unless you spend over 1K on the body...And even then, they drain the battery a lot more than shooting with a viewfinder. Thankfully, you can get a converter to use EF lenses on mirrorless mounts, but you cannot do the opposite...So if you get into mirrorless and buy lenses, and then (for some reason) get a DSLR, those mirrorless lenses will never work with it.

Canon should make their 50mm available as a kit lens, but then no one would actually buy the 18-55...
