Yeah, the writing in that issue was pretty bad. Even though Superman was barely stronger than Spiderman at the time, he did have SOME heat vision - which the writers only had him use once, against Venom's web line. Lame, lame, lame.

If it helps, Superman was temporary weakened and Spider villains are actually much more stronger and dangerous than people initially think. And the latest Venom comics have retconned the Symbiot race from being an alien symbiot to being an Eldritch Abomination that are made from the literal shadow of an evil Primordial God.

I know...it was a pretty terrible issue, with pretty terrible art to boot. Superman was extremely weak due to other events at the time, but as the issue shows, he had SOME heat vision, which would've ended the fight easily. Also, a simple clap of his hands, or one of his whistles, would have done it too. Pretty terrible.

As I recall, Cain Marko is not a mutant but a human with Cyttorak's power via the Cyttorak's gem. Looks like another editorial mishap in Marvel.

Venom gave a TREMENDOUSLY weakened Superman a hard time, but he still lost. Superman at even 1/4 power would obliterate Venom without even trying. But, due to the events of Final Night, Superman barely had enough power to fly. He wasn't even at 1/10 strength - just a bit stronger than Spiderman. He was a bit stronger than New 52 Superman when he'd lost most of his powers and rode around on a motorcycle in a t-shirt.

@@stormhawk31 the main point was his battle with supes was included in the top 10. I own that particular issue of DC-Marvel Access. There's also a Hulk vs Venom issue not included in this list where was able to catch the behemoth.

Dark Hawk is your favorite superhero? It’s ok, we all make mistakes. Like my buddy; he’s a Lakers fan... or me, I’m a 49ers fan 😉😅 Dark Hawk does have a solid look though 🙂

I actually was into Darkhawk from issue 1 and was thrilled to see Venom featured as a frequent 1st rank or B level recurring opponent...but although Venom may have beaten him once, Darkhawk also beat him fair and square at least once as well. It's cool that out of all of Marvel's characters you've honoured one of my early obscure favourites, but you've got to be more up front about it...

juggernaut's name is not Flint Marco, that's sandman's name.

They must have retconned Cain Marko/The Juggernaut as a Mutant like in the films. Because in the comics he was originally powered by The Crimson Gem Of Cyttorak. A magic based jewel that gave him his power and abilities.

My first comic was Amazing 375. Hooked on Venom ever since.

Except they didn’t. They only showed images of 616 Juggernaut. Ultimate Juggernaut’s costume looks way different.... like he has a welding mask crossed with a BBQ lid for a helmet. If they are referencing an Ultimates Juggernaut encounter, they should show relevant images or mention that it was in Ultimates I’m not even upset that they had Venom win that match (even though I doubt it would actually happen) because it would actually be pretty cool to watch if done right

GTS As far as I know he is a mutant in that incarnation, yes, but this video doesn’t differentiate from the version they are alluding to and the version they are showing. They never mentioned “in the Ultimate Universe” I like this channel overall, but they are spotty when it comes to their research/fact-checking, and it causes a lot of unnecessary stuff like this 🤔 I’m surprised that I haven’t seen many people yelling that only Eddie + Symbiote should be called Venom and that anyone else to bond with the Symbiote should be called something else My buddy feels very strongly about that, but I am more forgiving 🙂

Venom can't beat Superman, that event was non-canon and was only done for ratings and publicity, there are a number of things Superman could have done to hurt and stop Venom, heat vision would have instantly stopped him dead in his tracks, instead they had him fly off for Spiderman's help? Gimme a break.
