Right? It almost feels like they haven't really playtested their own features. They should be the first group of people to be hyped about their own game, yet I can't believe that they would release some of those titles if they had the opportunity to actually play them.

My taste in games has never left me disappointed pre-ordering. Also, nothing in the last few years has come out that I would want to pre-order. I'd pre-order baldur's gate 3 but there isn't a physical release. The real fight is against microtransactions and similar actions. Pre-ordering just reminds me of the old days when you had to buy games knowing nothing about them except what is on the back cover hoping it's good.

Gollum wasn't disappointing. It looked like a low-budget game made by an inexperienced team, and that's exactly what it turned out to be. I'd say Redfall was the most disappointing because it was made a team that had previously put out very good games. You could say the same for Forspoken, it definitely looked like it had potential with the magic/parkour system and the pedigree behind it.

Forespoken hype was immense because it was first rumored to be the name of the Endwalker expansion (that’s how long ago the tease was). Thus when it was hyped as an independent title, the FFXIV fans were already on board, creating artificial excitement. Toss in the excellent Endwalker and excitement about 16, and Forespoken was being tied in with those sentiments being from SE. however, once we learned SE outsourced this to a small studio, all bets were off. It should be higher on the list, though, if only because the witting of the main protagonist’s character arc was awful. She’s as insufferable as they come.

Man, learning about Roberta William's return to games this way is a little heartbreaking, not gonna lie... Though as far as I can tell, she was always more of a writer than a game developer. Game grumps actually did a really long playthrough/podcast of this with Roberta Williams. The main reason she made the game was to re-release it for older audiences and to act as a more accessible time capsule of what gaming was like for that time period. So saying it's a bad game doesn't really do it justice, but it's easy to say that without the context.

The Katana does do more damage than the guns but the guns are there to be just used to take out more annoying enemies from a far and if you aim for the head they go down pretty quickly. You are mostly supposed to get upclose and personal and use your katana and the hand gun mostly. Once you get the combat down, it is pretty easy. Only problem I can say is that it's a little too short.

@@MrWar2050 Or we're going to get another Fallout 76-esque disasterpiece, which is equally likely. Seems unlikely it'll fall anywhere in the middle, it's either going to be hot garbage or phenomenal.
The glitches for pc TLOU was so funny tho 😅 floating beard Joel, permanently T-posed Tess, and floating head Ellie.
Regarding Grey Hill Incident, the alien does indeed suck you off, so at least that's one positive.
Honestly forspoken still looks fun to me even in all the clips you're complaining about. I bought it and haven't played it, but I really don't think it looks like a bad game. At the very least it looks fun. Which is kind of the most important part man.

Yeah give it a shot. I played it at release and it was frustrating seeing the game get bandwagoned. I had a blast during my playthrough. The combat and movement is a lot of fun. I didn't feel like I HAD to do all the world map things, but they were there if I was making my way to some other point of interest. All in all it's a fun game, not game of the year, or a 10/10 or anything, but I don't regret playing through the entire story.
I wouldn't call Gollum disappointing. For something to be disappointing you have to expect something good and I dont think anyone expected this game to good.

Yeah it's true even if they've put more effort it's hard to make a good game with Gollum as the main character. When I read Lord of the Rings, Gollum is one of the characters I don't care much about, so hardly any game would impress me at all. I would prefer Tom Bombadil any day.... at least it would have been more entertaining also because almost nothing is known about him they could have made a very interesting game to that character.
Aluminum foil hat man sounds like an adult Bobby Hill.
The saddest thing about redfall isn’t the game, it’s the fact that it made the people who made Dishonored LEAVE the studio. So they’ll never be the same studio again.
Just a friendly reminder to drink plenty of water, and love yourself
So glad Redfall didn't come to PS5, saved money for Spiderman 2 Keep up the good work falcon 👍 And hi to Jake🤟
Wanted Dead is on this list?! Nooooo! I still wanna play this and Forsaken. I’ll grab both once they’re in deep sale.
I love the fact that in the Gollum devs "apologize post" they even misspell it. "The Lord of Ring: Gollum"? thought it was The Lord of The RIngs: Gollum"
Now we need the best of 2023 so far!

I actually enjoyed Wanted Dead and found it to be a pleasant surprise as my expectations actually weren't all that high to begin with.
Forspoken got killed b4 it even came out and we all know why. And Redfall the only problems I have with that game is that I wish it had open lobbies.
Hello! I'm one of the five people in the world that absolutely LOVED Forspoken, like, a lot. I'm happy I got it day one, full price, and will definitely return to it. Though, I 100% get it if people don't like it. I have a thing for 'bad' games. Anyway, love you guys, keep at it 💪

@@AnimeCatDad I agree. Like it's not the best thing ever but it isn't the worst either. I ended up returning it after I finished it because it wasn't worth full price to me, but I would definitely buy it on sale again in the future. The story was good for awhile (even if Frey made me roll my eyes quite often with her attitude) but kinda falls flat towards the end but I get that because apparently the writers were forced to re-write the story last minute. So ya know, for having to rewrite it quickly last minute it's passable.
Forespoken should've been given way more time. It looked like one of those games that could really show off the capability of next gen gaming, but it ended up not even being a finished product.

I had a lot of fun playing Forspoken. It's a perfectly okay game and there was nothing else really going on at the time. The movement and magic were great. Like I wish another game would adopt the magic system and push it further with a stronger narrative. There's a great game that could rise out of Forspoken's ashes, I'm sure of it. I'd give the game a 6.5/10 probably. It wasn't too long to beat and was fun while I played, so mission accomplished.

You just make a little mistake. The Arkane who did redfall are actually Arkane Austin, the Arkane who did Dishonored/deathloop/prey are the french studio Arkane founded in the city of Lyon. Both belong to bethesda but Arkane Austin is just a secondary studio. 😉
I only played Redfall once, but I had a real romp with it, honestly.
I love how everytime I see forspoken gameplay it’s from the first hour of gameplay lol nobody cared to go further and see how good the combat and world is
Kerbal Space Program 2. KSP might be my all time favorite game. With all the delays and behind the scenes problems with KSP 2 I had already dramatically lowered my expectations. It failed to even meet that.
I would argue that Crime Boss: Rockay City Has a lot of potential to be fantastic. The core of the game is a turf war and you run heists to make money to run your turf war. The thing that makes Crime Boss disappointing to me as someone who actually likes the game, is that the turf wars get overwhelmingly difficult. The controls are a bit janky on PC as well. That aside the game is actually fairly decent to be honest and the big name actors make it fun on another level.
This was a great video i I didn't even know about a few of these but they definitely looked super underwhelming for sure.
I didn't play many of the games on this list, but I did play Forespoken. The only issue I had with it was the repetitive lines during combat.
I think it's been said, but Gollum should definitely not be #1. I mean, really, who was disappointed by it? I don't even know a single person who even knew that game was coming out, let alone be excited for it. Redfall is a better description of disappointing, as people actually expected a lot from Arkane, and XBOX was actually touting it as its next big thing.
When Falcon acknowledges Jake, almost feels like it's breaking the 4th wall.
I feel like we all collectively forgot that Callisto Protocol exists and how the Dead Space remake made it obsolete a month after its release while costing less

Gollum in #1 was surprising, not because it didn't deserve it, but because I completely forgot this game even existed...
