@@cryptothermia Unlike the first mob vote, the devs stated that the ideas won’t be forever scrapped. They’ll be left in the back burner in a sense, and possibly may come back if they find it fitting to add them.

@WeepingWillowTree This could be a reason why they don't want to add sharks consided Mojang now has western audiences, and Minecraft adding the winner of the Mob Vote tailored for Chinese audiences, aka the Panda Another possible reason, it's illegal to sell, import, and or serve shark fins in China (some species of sharks though) and I think Japan as well. In western culture, shark fins are considered as a delicacy in Asia, but this probably lead to the near extinction of shark species, so they banned it. Shark fins are used as medicines, soups, and even sushies. I guess Mojang Studios did a reasonable thing to not include sharks. Salute to them. But I do think that the inclusion of polar bears is something that needs to explain. Maybe they have a good reason.

It would have been great if they added in the others Mobs from the mob vote instead of scrapping them completely. They have potential and would help the community stop arguing over the mob votes. The votes should just be for which mob will be implemented first and the other two (or more) will follow in later.

I think they all are very annoying and dangerous. Let's just be glad the phantom came into the game instead of the others. Also something for you to read to clarify about the mob vote 2020 that IdeactivateMc was talking about: The iceoleger isn't gone forever. It is allowed to be added for when it makes since. They could add it if it makes since or add something else. That something else could be better than the iceloger. Also the glowsquid would've won even if dream didn't tell people to vote for it. But we are all rigging it for the right mob whenever there is a mob vote ever since we saw that votes can get rigged for the wrong mob.

I also wouldn't want sharks to be hostile but what *if Mojang just made them neutral but easily provoked? Endermen and spiders are both neutral but are aggressive so what if sharks attacked players below half health? or maybe players above half health would get attacked if they have any type of raw meat in their Hotbar but at the same time, killing a shark could give you negative effects. We also have dolphins who are demons in real life and even attack great white sharks but we don't get neutral sharks. TBH at least a cartilaginous fish like a ray, chimaera, or dogfish would've been awesome

The iceoleger and mobs that lost the vote aren't gone forever. Mobs that lost the mob vote are back in the bin of ideas. They are allowed to be added when it makes since. Or ad something better. They could add the iceologer if it makes since or add something else. That something else could be better than the iceloger. Also the glowsquid would've won even if dream didn't tell people to vote for it. Dream rigged it when he saw that the iceologer was doomed anyway. But we learned a lesson. Tell your friends and fans on what to vote for in thumbnails of videos or by spreading the word. If a vote can get rigged for the wrong thing, then we rig it for the right thing. That's what everyone was doing in the 2021 mob vote. And that's how the alley won. And we love the alley. Next mob vote, I am putting out flyers telling everyone including people who don't play minecraft to vote for the mob that we all want in minecraft when it's the right time. So what would you do to get the mob you want to win?

Mojang are dead wrong about sharks... Sharks are neutral creature, sharks don't attack human, they generally avoid them... The shark "attack" news you saw on TV are caused by shark mistaken surfer as a seal or sea turtle... I know this because my dad is a shark expert

I wish I lived in the alternative reality where sharks where added to minecraft instead of dolphins. A lot of sharks are passive towards humans in real life so they don’t necessarily need to be aggressive, Just make them a defensive mob or something. It’s not like dolphins aren’t defensive and endangered (and I will actually kill them in game)

Exactly. If you don't want to portray them as hostile, fine and if you don't want to portray them as tame, also fine, as sharks are neither of those things, so why not make them like in real life. Neutral. Maybe to suit the needs of the community, add some sort of undead variant that could be hostile, faster than the drowned and can also be a jockey. Also, last time I checked, polar bears were the only mammals that would go out of their way yo hunt humans, but they're in the game and neutral, just because Jeb wanted to appease his wife. Minecract is honestly being turned into a kid's game by Microsoft.

Funny, Mojang knew how much the community hated phantoms, so on Java Edition, they made a switch exclusively to turn off Phantoms LOL

_We (Mojang) don’t add sharks for two reasons: 1) This might encourage children to find sharks irl. 2) Children might think of sharks as enemies in the ocean._ Seriously, what the fuck?! If the team really is afraid of kids conducting stupid acts to the hostile animals in real life, they should present the real aspect of the animals in Minecraft! Players when dolphins nearby were given dolphin’s grace effect. By intending this feature, Mojang somehow already encourages the kids who are playing this game to swim besides dolphins? THAT DOESN’T MAKES SENSE! Dolphins can be hostile towards humans sometime and you’re letting kids free to do so?! Mojang never makes sense, so does the Microsoft. This furthermore leads to us think this really tends to be a kid’s game. What I find the most funny thing about this is that Jeb added polar bears because his wife wanted them. The ironic part is that the polar bears are neutral and yet these animals in real life are much more aggressive than sharks and are one of the few animals that have many cases of them seeing human as food.

Also, I remember Mojang saying the other 1.14 biome updates would be added later, but it never happened. Mojang lied to us all without us realizing it.

Idea for sharks: Hunger based agro system. Sharks normally aren't naturally aggressive towards humans, and most attacks are because of the shark either getting a whiff of blood or assuming the human is a seal. SO have it where Sharks are Neutral Mobs that have a hunger mechanic almost identical to that of a player, just where instead of loosing the ability to sprint, it starts attacking anything in it's vicinity.

Adding Sharks being a bad idea makes some sense, yet they added a ton of other mobs that could potentially do the same thing, Polar Bears, Pandas, Wolves, Ocelots, and other wild farm animals.

Only OGs remember when the thumbnail of this video had a green axolotl instead of a shark

as biology enthusiast i can say i like the idea of shark in mc but I also adore mojang's decision - sharks are indeed hunted for no good reasons and endangered!

The Barnacle would've been perfect for the Aquatic update, the Wild Fire perfect for 1.16, the Great Hunger would've been Great, (get it, yeah sorry that was a bad joke) for the Wild Update, and the Phantom, I don't wanna talk about it

(Not mine but just wanted to share this info) The iceolloger/chillager and moobloom actually has a chance of coming back if mojang wants to every mob vote aside from the first one is actually stashed in an ideas vault (I think that's what it's called) and can be reused if mojang sees fit but ofc they won't be like the original concept since they lost and yes this includes the copper golem and glare

Minecraft developers add Shark's to the game that If you move quicky they would attack If you are moving slower or they already ate like 5 fish they would have no interest in you, just like the Warden kinda.

I just personally feel that Mojang might need to reconsider adding the mob vote losers because since Mojang is adding the Swamp biome vote features and possibly the Desert Savanna and Badlands biome vote features in 1.19 it will probably and most definitely make alot of the Minecraft community pissed off at the fact that mobs they voted for are never coming and that the biomes only come to the game but not Mob A the Barnacle Mob C the Great Hunger Mob D the WildFire Moobloom Iceologer Glare and Copper Golem it will just make the community upset making them think that the votes were pointless and that the mobs they voted for are never coming in mean come on all those mobs will have some sort of use for the game and will definitely bring more to the game. Like if you agree with me.

I just think that doing a Mob Vote is nonsense. (as we always know how the vote goes) Microsoft (behind Mojang) is promoting them to do just to get more famous by controversies and community divisions. And I just think that the team fear of adding anything which could make children conduct bad behaviours is just a poor excuse of saying “I just don’t want to do it” sorta. THAT SHOULD BE THE PARENTS JOB AND INSTEAD MOST PARENTS SUCK AT TEACHING THEIR KIDS, but this doesn’t mean the game should take the responsibility.

So basically Mojang isn’t adding sharks because “we don’t think our players have the ability to distinguish a game from reality”

The simplest way to add sharks into the game, is literally just make them dolphins that are passive and only attack if you attack! Come on Mojang, this is such an easy solution.

Just a small correction on the axolotls. The only wild coloration is the brown axo, known as the 'wild type' morph in the pet trade. The others are selectively bred for in the pet trade as there are only about 100 wild axolotls left. They're thriving in the pet trade though in a variety of different color morphs, including what you see in game (minus the blue)! The green axos are, as mentioned, based off axolotls containing the Green Flourecent Pigment, also known as GFP axolotls. Their DNA was spliced with jellyfish DNA. They are able to pass this on and have no effects on the animal's health. It would be really cool to have glowing axolotls spawn in caves, but I totally understand why they probably wouldn't be added. Make sure you do your research I'd you want a pet axolotl! They may look pretty cool in game but they're a lot harder to take care of in real life! They have a good amount of specific requirements that may be harder to attain than you think!

Mojang doesn’t want to add some mobs because they only want mythical creatures as hostile mobs to avoid real life creatures getting unnecessary human fear out onto them, like how when jaws came out shark populations dropped because people thought they were only deadly maneaters when they’re not, that’s why most animals from irl in this game are only hostile when messed with, like in real life I don’t have time to watch rn but I do have time to say this in comments idk if you’ll mention this in the video but just in case here it is

You forgot polor bears in this game are hostile when you come to close to there cub (it's realistic and makes sense but it's an endangered/vunrebel speices that is agreesive in-game )(tho only when near kid)

The reason sharks aren't in the game are completely dumb. What kid would wander out into the wilderness and kill wolves, foxes, cows, or pigs? And the second reason. Neutral mobs exist, you could make sharks passive until provoked by wounds or by coming too close. Plus, we wanted sharks. Not specifically Great Whites or Tigers. Leopard sharks, dog fish, cat sharks, reef sharks, angel sharks. These exist, and whole reef sharks do pose a somewhat threat, the others don't.

@@DrMako-jo6bf This could be a reason why, consided Mojang now has western audiences, and Minecraft adding the winner of the Mob Vote tailored for Chinese audiences, aka the Panda Another possible reason, it's illegal to sell, import, and or serve shark fins in China (some species of sharks though) and I think Japan as well. In western culture, shark fins are considered as a delicacy in Asia, but this probably lead to the near extinction of shark species, so they banned it. Shark fins are used as medicines, soups, and even sushies. But yeah, you have a point.

About the shark.. Just make them neutral unless attacked. It's not like actual sharks attack people Also, "children will be encouraged to go and find sharks" just sounds like Mojang was running out of excuses.

Mojang: we don't want to add shark in Minecraft *meanwhile.....* Survivalcraft: *[have 3 species of shark: Bull, Tiger and Great White shark and the game are likely going to get more shark species soon.. also have Orca and Beluga as rare sea animal that can only be found far into the ocean but can be found near the shore on certain occassion]*

They should add sharks Make them peaceful mobs, friendly towards players and hostile against fish. Just like axolotls. Hell we even have dolphins, which are way more psychopathic than sharks in real life. Make the shark not drop anything so there’s no absolutely reason to kill it. “We want all hostile mobs to not be anything from real life. Oh, I’m sorry. I guess Polar bears just doesn’t exist in real life. Or what about spiders???

Sharks could be added as neutral mobs that don't drop anything so noone would want to kill them anyway. Also I love the moobloom I kind of really wish it was added.

I have an idea for mob C: C can be tamed with steak and can be a portable grindstone and a pet. It can also remove curses (curse of binding and vanishing) Edit: about the sharks, i think they should be neutral. If you hurt them, they hurt you. If you leave them alone, they leave you alone

Another reason mojang didnt add sharks (and crocodiles), is because they base off all their hostile mobs with fantasy ones, which means they are not real.

They should add dragons sharks as well
