That was literally the first hockey goal i ever saw. As a young immigrant in MTL i was zapping and just fell on that and was hooked 😊😊

In 2004 i first saw ovechkin play, i was never more amazed by anything in my life. I went from being a kid who liked hockey to it becoming my life. All because of what ovechkin showed us. Hell always be my favorite player for showing me the greatest game in the world.

Special player. When the Lightning were in the same division as the caps it felt like he was scoring a hattrick every time he played them.

it sucks that younger fans thinks Ovi only has a great shot. In his prime Ovi was one of the best and fastest skater, some of the best hands, one of the best hitter. He was the most exciting player to watch in the league in his prime.

The most entertaining announcer is with red wings. He is something up there. His commentary and his voice is something to look forward to.

I probably have him in the 6 slot behind Gretzky, Lemieux, Howe , Orr and Crosby. Only Jagr and potentially McDavid are in that realm in my opinion. Truly a once in a lifetime player!

Alex having more points is also invalid when Ovechkin has played 166 more games, if crosby also played 1274 games, he'd have a calculated 1620 points. Young ovi was just a different beast. In his later ywars he has relied a lot on his powerplay but man his first 5 years he was one of the most unique and dominant players ever. Run someone over like a truck one shift, and when he would get the puck at his blue line, everyone would rise to their feet. His speed and abiility to beat defenders was just special

When he gets the puck and starts heading north, he's a holy terror. So aggressive..it almost looks like he's out of control except, he ISN'T!. 😀 It reminds me of how Roenick used to skate, but even harder.

3:08 this is when i became an ovi and caps fan was this play right here. i was watching the playoffs and he did a lot of amazing things, but this play just was the coolest thing ever to me. He practically beat the whole team! I feel lucky that i watched all his games after that during his prime. i think it was 2009. People also don't realize who didn't watch the games how in his prime every shift was something to watch. When he came on the ice, you got excited because he was always about to do something crazy even if it was just hit a guy. He was always very noticeable

its funny cuz the first hla of his career he was known as being the guy who can score from anywhere, even from his ass. How many times has he scored while falling? There's never been a more dynamic scorer. But then he had a couple down years because everyone figured him out and he couldn't dangle anymore. So then he changed his game and that's how people know him nowadays. but I think that was significant, because he became even more efficient. there was a year or two when it was cringe watching ovi because the teams learned how to play him and he couldn't do it anymore. so im happy he found a way to keep scoring

a lot of people say he's an underrated playmaker. he just doesn't have a lot of reason to. I think he's elite as a scorer, passer, and hitter, the only thing he doesn't care about is defense
