Then when the patent started changing hands, it kept going up and up, finally holding at $13 a pill for a while, until the latest asshole who bought the patent, a Venture Capitalist, some one who has no education or experience in medicine.. He decided "Hey, if these parents with infants born with Toxoplasmosis, or patients who contract it want to live, they'll pay my price!" And jacked the pill up to $750 EACH. A more than 5000% increase! His excuse for the gouging (which I thought was illegal..) was "He thought it would be a good way to raise capital in case he decides to fund research into other medicines..."... Gotta love greedy creeps who care more about money than lives. O_o

I've had itch mites before. My mom refused to treat me and my older sister for two months until my dad took me to the hospital. (They are divorced, and I lived in Chicago alone with my 22 year old sister, so I didn't get to see my dad, who lived about 6 hours away in Southern Illinois, and my mom didn't get infected, so she couldn't have cared less about us having itch mites.) When I finally did get medicine, my mom used it for me and my sister. We finally got over it, but we had to bag up all of our stuff in trash bags, and we were covered in scabs, but my mom didn't want to spend money to take us to the hospital. Yea, 6th grade wasn't that fun...
