When I met my husband, I was a senior in college in my own apartment with two young rescue kitties. He said, "I don't like cats." I asked about the cats he'd owned. He said he'd never had a cat or even been close to one. Within a couple of months as he and I continued to date, he adored my cats! And he is still the best cat daddy ever. Our cats are such a joy to both of us.

If a cat does let you rub their belly, be proud because it means your cat's trust of you is absolute.

I'm the proud owner of a new kitten, and after several weeks of trust building she let's me rub her belly. Almost in a playful type of way. She doesn't resist but playful biting in return. I always felt real good about this. The video says resist this urge.

My cat bonded with me completely. First animal to choose only me. On cold nights I set up a mild warm heating pad so he can stay warm next to an open window he insists on having open. I feed him good meat and top line cat food. He gets cold filtered water every day. He treats me so good that I’m compelled to treat him the same. Emotional support is through the roof. Treat them well and they’ll return the favor haha

My partner and I have 3, our middle cat has fully bonded with me, she sleeps in bed and cuddles into me while I watch TV or do other things. Our other 2 are obsessed with him and I barely get a look in! They follow him to bed at night 😂❤

Oh man! You're just like my hubby, in that (when we had 2 cats, the one that got him thru cancer died of cancer) he wld set his heating pad for her to use it also! I miss my meow meows! My last 1 just passed on to Jesus Sept 8th 2023! We currently hv zero pets, not even a pet spider or anything, it is sad n weird! 🙏🕇

I had a cat who would only drink bottled water......

I used to have a wee boy cat that would run up to me and throw his paws round my leg and hug my leg. Ha died four years ago and a month after he died, another cat walked into my life. I really missed my wee boy’s leg hugs. A few days ago, this new puss has started to give us the same leg hugs. One of her claws made a run in the leg of my trousers but I don’t care. It’s so good to get leg hugs again. I mostly wear old jeans around the house, it was just bad luck I was wearing nicer trousers when the leg hugs started. My wife was delighted this morning when she got a leg hug too.

Just got a kitten 2 weeks ago and she is obsessed with me. She loves sitting on my shoulder like a parrot as I get her food ready. First cat I've ever had that's done that

One evening our cat presented us with a live mouse! The cat seemed happy and pleased with our reaction to the gift - we remained calm and eventually released the mouse outside.

I had a cat named Oliver that once placed a dead mouse on my Mom's side of the bed, she was not happy but she couldn't stay mad at him.

Cats are such a comfort to include in your home. They can even become your best friend. Unlike dogs, they clean continuously, no need for walks,litter trained & no barking or washing!

Cats are more adaptable than dogs too: my pair follow me down to my greenhouse, guard me from mice/racoons/other cats/deer and will go on long walks with me around the farm and around the neighborhood. When the weather is grim they will forego outdoor life and stay in most days; they take life as it comes and adapt to the humans they live with.

My tabby guards me as I sit on the toilet each morning. Also, he swats at my legs as I enter the shower, trying to save me from the evil water. Every day.

Take good care of that kitty. I just lost mine after 17 years. My 16 year old daughter’s best friend. They grew up together. Cats are such great companions. I’m jealous.

My cat shows me all of these loving behaviors, and we are very bonded.💕 I believe that cats never forget their time as baby kittens with mom, as seen by their pleasure in kneading with their paws.

My cats love belly rubs so much that, if I touch their bellies even when they’re sitting (in any position), they’ll lie down showing their bellies for more belly rubs. ❤

ive had strays walk alongside me as i walked a dog. they were absolutely guarding us every morning and evening. they would leave their bowls i just laid down to do this. folks can say cats dont care or just are there for food. I'm here to say different

The "slow blink" is the equivalent of a "smile". Cats will even give it to a total stranger...

I have got one that needs to be picked up and held every morning and every afternoon at some time or another. I have another cat that needs cuddling every time I’m sitting down in a chair relaxing. And my older girl, she waits till the boys are doing something else and then she comes for love or to sit on my lap. They worship the ground I walk on. They are my best friends, and they’re always there for me. I would open up a can if someone did something to my babies. I don’t understand the dislike for them. They are incredibly fun.

I used to have a cat that bonded with me when I first met him as a cute stray in the backyard back in late September 1981 when I was 11 years old. I was the one he trusted. He was very friendly and a sweet cat. He was both indoor and outdoor cat. He stayed in the yard to stayed close to home. He did climbed on me to started to purred loudly. I did petted him and even gently forced him to laid for belly rubs and kisses on my belly. Even my sister did some belly rubs,too on him. He did followed me around the yard or even sat next to me. He never liked me. He did became friends with our 1st cat. He was a wonderful cat.

My cat actually grabs my hand to stroke her belly. Not to stop it. She adores being brushed and actually meows to ask to be brushed.

My cat loves to kiss my face in the morning. Only when he knows that I'm awake, he will purr loudly and sit to face me. Then he'll kiss my face and purrrrrrr. He doesn't lick cuz he knows that hurts me but kisses. I love my cat!

Pets are like small children. They: * can mimic the actions of their hoomans * can act dramatic * need to be taken care of * love to play * have feelings just like humans * can love/hate cuddles * are naturally curious * can be taught different things * get into mischief * can be very smart * can be needy/clingy * throw tantrums * want to sleep with you * need to be fed regularly * want to eat your food too * want/love to be the center of attention * can get excited to see you come home * can get excited when going to see Grandma/Grandpa * can get excited to go to the park * can be stubborn and not listen * can love/hate going to the Dr's (vet) * have accidents * need to be potty trained * go to daycare * can love/hate baths * wake you in the middle of the night * run to you when scared * don't always look before crossing the road ... just like a toddler. Did I miss anything? lol My only kids are my feline furbabies. :-)

No. You should not compare a domestic animal to a human, they do not have the same needs or the same development. Furthermore, humanizing them is NOT good for their mental health. It's a fact, there is no debate to be had on this and I don't care about offending the beliefs of pseudo-animal lovers who don't know what is good for them. Love your animals and take care of them but do not infantilize them because contrary to what you seem to say, it 's not NORMAL for a cat or a dog to be dependent on its adopters. Period. Also, you have probably never had to take care of an animal who has experienced trauma to generalize and say nonsense like "they like to be the center of attention/sleep with their owners/come to you when they are scared" and other stuff like that. Believe me, to have a cat traumatized because separated from its mother too young (found abandoned barely a month old) it does none of that and constantly flees humans. And as for my second cat adopted afterwards, he too was separated from his mother too young but he followed the opposite path by taking any kind human with him as his mother (which is cuter but equally dangerous as being too afraid). It's not healthy and I try to make the first less fearful and the second less needy because that's what being a good adopter is : make their lives better and not take them for furry babies.

I used to breed and show Ocicats and Bengals I loved each and everyone in a different way and they each showed their love to me in their own ways. I had one male Bengal who also wanted to chew on my bangs when I held him and drool profusely on my face while purring loudly. One od my male Ocicats when I picked him up would gently lick and nip my nose when I picked him up. This was several decades ago and God Bless them all as they have all passed over. I could not replace them when they passed because I had promised my allergist years earlier that I would not replace them as I have been allergic to cats my entire life and had to take medications for years, I still have the allergies but take minimal meds now, but suffering through the allergies for twenty some years was worth every moment and I would never have changed a thing. I had twenty five of them in the house over that time and still miss them, but know I will see them again. I was born a Leo and I guess my zodiac sign could relate better to cats than dogs, but I had some dogs as well and actually just love all animals.

My mom's cats love having their heads scratched. That's how they start purring like mad!

My kitty, who is about seven weeks old (I got her from a neighbor; her littermates became barn cats) and she nips but it doesn't yet seem friendly because she gnaws too and the vet said she'd outgrow seeing me as a chew toy and I try to distract her with toys, including fishing poles and soft homemade toys. My kitty does stretch and show her belly so she does trust me. She purrs some.

My cat let's me do absolutely anything to him.That doesn't amaze me because our relation of mutual respect is total.What does amaze me is the fact that if I'm sad or if I cry he goes out of his mind at first and then won't leave me alone a minute...

My cat actually sits on the tub when I’m taking a bath and also insists on sitting on my lap when I’m on the toilet 🤦🏻‍♀️ I know I don’t have to pick her up and put her on my lap but she cries if I don’t. She is definitely the boss lol

My baby girl does the same thing.when I go into the bathroom she's underfoot.then I'll turn on the sink.and there she is.but if I call her into the shower not a chance but it doesn't bother her when I splash her.crazy ass cat.

My former cat used to run ahead of me when I walked up the stairs, and stick his face out of the handrail to have his cheek scratched. He did it for every floor.

The cats and I have something we call the bestest time of the day when they are all up on me loving me up and I'm giving out scratches and petting

My cat loves to have his belly rubbed. He jumps on my lap and flips over wanting and knowing that he will get a belly rub. When he gets his way, he purrs until he falls asleep.

I see so much of Louie, my 10 year old brown tabby in this video. We do spend a lot of time "slow blinking " one another. I suspect Louis is trying to teach me Morse code. He is very patient with me and undoubtedly has typed me as a slow learner. Patience is a hallmark of the feline, after all they have been around millions of years longer than we have. They have learned the virtue of patience. Thankfully, he has never presented me with a dead rodent. Louie is strictly a lap cat not a mouser, thankfully! If the dude ever saw a live mouse he would run into the bathroom and hide behind the toilet until he got an all clear. One unvarying rule: When Louie retires to my closet and jumps in my clothes basket he wants to be left alone. Cats need their periods of privacy to think deep thoughts. When the good Lord created the cat He saw it was very good indeed!

Cats communicate a lot. The key is to notice this and reciprocate.

I'm in my 60s, and I have never owned a cat until just a few months ago. I have a lot to learn, but I am glad I finally got 2 kittens. 😅

Different cats seem to emphasise different bonding behaviours. All three of my cats past and present have been very affectionate but my current one doesnt do slow blinking or nipping at all whereas the others did. She however grooms me a lot which the others grew out of. That said they all liked to sleep on me and on my stuff when i was trying to use it , like keyboards

Yes, one of my cat grooms me regularly -- she can't figure out why I'd wear pjs to bed. She should be glad I do, lol. Also, wants to follow me into the bathroom -- again, not always the best idea. But she likes to be near me. I saved her once from marauding wild dogs (they'd treed her) and ever since then she became my buddy. Cats require that you earn their time and respect, unlike some dogs I know. As for the unique bonding: neither of my cats like belly rubs, and when we are out together around the farm they don't like even being touched. But, once back home, everything is friendly again. They started out feral. Never saw humans til they were picked up by the local authorities and put in a shelter where I found them. Fortunately, they were bonded to each other and have always had each other, and now they have my wife and I. I think they see us as a bonded couple, which I hope is true, lol.

Mine since his eyes opened and came to meet me learned to climb my pants leg to my lap then learned to climb inside my sweater or jacket and sleep there while I held him most of the day. I named him Buddy. He was a darling cat. Born feral I changed that.

My Sugar Pie does at least 5 of the things that are in this video. She also will "nurse" on me, she does it around my neck. She's done it ever since she was a little kitten. That's her way of reconnecting with me as her mom. Love from Marysville California

10 is considered senior age. One of my cats lived to 20. Several to 18. 16 to 18 is about the average age my kitties live to. Have hope. Give love. And enjoy each day of the kitties precious love.😊

I had a cat that would sleep on my head. I woke up quite a few times like that. He also loved car rides.

Regarding #4, my cat loves to bring me his toys at exactly 2AM every night, dropping it on my bed and relentlessly pouncing on like a psychopath, as if he's trying to teach me how to hunt in my sleep.

It took over 3 years for my rescue cat Sassy to trust me enough to let me rub her tummy. Ibwas so happy that day.

With a dozen rescued farm cats in the house we have a whole range of relationships, but the best is the little one ( part Birman I think) who lived in our bedroom for years. Hubby is not an affectionate person and definitely not a cat person so he’s always shooing her away… but she get him anyway. If I Bring a pile of his clean laundry and she’ll give me a sly look and slowly stalk over and very deliberately lay down on it!

Apparently my cats really love me. Lol

They own you...but you can call it love. It's really close to emotional abuse. Oh how I love my cat. 🙂

There is another thing some cats do that wasn't mentioned and that is to drool when you hold them which is what mine would often do. I looked it up and they said it's a sign that the cat adores you.

Drooling can also indicate overstimulation. A stray cat jumped into my lap and was loving the petting. I noticed them drooling and then they bit hard (broke skin). It was then I researched and found if overstimulated they can go into a sort of zen/unconscious prey mode. They don’t mean to hurt you but you could still get infected so be careful. If they’re drooling it might be time pause.

Even 3-4 wk old kittens know not to bite & scratch humans the same was as with other kittens. I've worked with these little bitty ones for yrs. They intuitively are more gentle.

One of my cats loves his belly rubbed and whenever I stop he quickly wraps his paws and arms around my hand and arm and won't let go until I start to rub his belly again.

Kitty was my first cat he'd walk up to me when I was asleep and kiss me on the tip of my nose and run away n I'd wake up n he laugh.i miss him.

We have a shop cat, who just showed up one day. I named her Sweet Pea, because she is so cute. She now does all of the above for 3 of us car guys. She runs the shop!

I have 5 furboys they all show me love differently, some sleep on me, some follow me arround, some give love bites, they all give slow blinks and show theyr belly , and i think ive seen every sign on that list over the years ( my oldest is 14 and my youngest is 9 😊💜

I swear by using Feliway or similar helps our furbabies to feel calm n happy. There are too many cats near me and mine got stressed thinking she had to protect our garden n us from them. Once we understand their cues we're awarded with love 😀
