I'm so spoiled living here in New Orleans that I can't live anywhere else. The food is amazing; the people are friendly; and cultural experiences are beyond those that you can find anywhere else. Thanks for your New Orleans food vlog.

I lived in New Orleans for just over 5 years in the late 1980s to early 90s, and I try to visit at least once a year since. My top tip to tourists is try to get out of the French Quarter for at least half of of your time in NOLA. I would reccomend Mid-City/Bayou St. John/City Park area because that's where I lived and loved it. It has made a wonderful comeback since the floods of Katrina.

@megroy6396

IDK that I would call Cafe du Monde a tourist trap...I grew up in the quarter and went there for breakfast all the time. Also, the bread you had your po boy on is NOT French Bread. French Bread is white, it almost looks like a baguette. And the best place to get them is Domileses, which is uptown. It's only locals. But, of course, you barely left the French Quarter. Which is a HUGE mistake most tourists make. Algiers is great, swamp tours are great, but you never saw St. Charles Avenue or Magazine street, nor did you ride a streetcar. Snoballs are out of season when you went, but Plum Street is a staple.
Where can you get good fried alligator?
Poboys also have pickles. That’s what makes it a poboy.

New Orleans has numerous vegetarian options.Gumbo is a dish that Africans gave us, main ingredient being okra, no animal product needed. Several eggplant and artichoke dishes, thanks to our Sicilian influence, were minus meat, not to mention amazing pasta pesto and pasta agliolio with grated Grana Pradana cheese enjoyed with Gendusa's French bread.
