Hearing some of these is genuinely heartbreaking, my favourite childhood VGM were just rips. Why Kenji why 😭
6:00 this is literally eleanor rigby in 16 bit lol
13:32 - YO! That telepathic knock-back in forth in line with the drumming apex was SICK.
Kenji definitely had some genuine talent, but he chose to waste it on cheap theft.
Just gonna say, Eleanor Rigby is a great song. However, WHY IS KENJI SUCH A PLAGIARIST!? He might as well be called "Darth Plagiarist the Unwise".

When I hear hurricane challenger, I can’t help but hear the SNES intro to Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting.
By the way, there are two versions of Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2: one with the original soundtrack (as shown in the video) and other that uses music from Budokai Tenkaichi 2. The latter version exists because the former had its soundtrack composed by Kenji Yamamoto (not to be confused with the composer for the Metroid series, which has the same name).
I just love this channel and ongoing series ❤️

Rest in Peace Mr. Neil Peart
I assumed number 10 would be from Doom, but I assumed wrong it seems. Great video, btw, as always.
Afaik, that drum sample/break it's not from spide-man, but rather relatively popular for the time. But i do think the way it was executed is from that spider man soundtrack
I DIDN'T EXPECT EYE TO EYE BEING THE FIRST SONG IN THE VIDEO, AS A BIG YU YU HAKUSHO FAN THIS MADE ME DIE INSIDE HAGSKSSGSVVSJSKSSHSVBSJS
Yamamoto be like: "Say i've taken a liking to this track I think i'll take it........COPY NOW!!!!!!!!!"
I cannot believe the 6th one, as soon as I heard it I started laughing out loud. Not even trying to hide it at that point. Literally the most popular band of all time
Fun fact: the guitar riff a little later in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber track is pretty much a direct rip from Toto's (of "Africa" fame...) "Stranger in Town" song. Not sure if this is another rop from Yamamoto, or if Toto supplied this riff themselves, since Toto members Steve Lukather, Mike Porcaro and Simon Philips all featured on the session recordings for that soundtrack.

He didn't, Toei knew at least of "Battle Point Unlimited" being plagiarized because they refused to rerelease that track several times and NEVER, ever used it in the anime again after the Trunks vs Freeza episodes. He continued "composing" music for the series because he was close friends with lots of influential people (including Hironobu Kageyama, to whom he still works to this day as an arranger), but he simply got too cocky with attempting to plagiarize songs from then recently released Hollywood films and finally was shafted.
@gespenst1329

@@primosdesegundograu1204Thing is, BPU still got re-made for the JP version of Raging Blast 2, so despite never re-releasing it on any Song Collections since 1991 they still had no problems making re-arrangements of it for games & such. Of course, they can’t do even that now after Yamamoto’s demise.

That X-Men one is totally a case of sample library use. One of the Danger Room themes in the X-Men game shared a lot of samples with the Shadow the Hedgehog OST
There’s another plagiarized song in budokai 2 Called “Soul Vaccination” only plays Budokai 2 where you meet supreme Kai The original song is literally titled “Soul Vaccination” by Tower of Power The beats are very similar and jazzy parts as well
12:32 that's not the only song he sampled,he also used a Riff from a song by Disturbed called Dropping Plates
You are doing god's work
I love this. Talk more about other animes too.
Kenji Yamamoto is at it again!
As a huge Rush fan, I never heard Spirit of Radio in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber song. Nice shout out to Peart's unparalleled skill though. A musical moment of silence for the passing of that beacon of drumming and lyrical titan.
6:56 I assumed that was Iron Maiden's The Clairvoyant, which was released in 1988, but sped up. I think Stratovarius plagiarized Iron Maiden. The same guitar part starts at the 2 minute mark of The Clairvoyant. edit because i made a mistake. said 40 sec but the similarities start at the 2minute mark. The clairvoyant is slower in pitch but any Maiden fan will hear that the similarities between moving forward fearlessly because they are Uncanny.

Being from Niagara Falls (Peart was raised in Port Dalhousie), its sad that someone that was from my area that meant a lot to me died that had such an impact on my life. I listened heavily to Rush years ago, even sang a lot of their songs at Karaoke. As stated here, its a coincidence that #3 is Spirit of the radio. RIP Neil Peart
For Powerful Man from the Darkness, it uses similar guitar riffs from Disturbed's droppin plates (instrumental) and it speeds it up by 1.25. Combine that with some of the sound samples from Sentinel Lab from X-Men Legends.
great video

And Toto as well. His connections got him the opportunity apparently.
You know what, forget my previous comment here, I stand corrected. According to some research done on Kanzenshuu (and confirmed by one Kei17), it turns out that the background track that traced No Leaf Clover was indeed a Kenji Yamamoto arrangement too, only that it was unused (originally made for Burst Limit) and part of a larger library of tracks that Bamco still had the rights to. That may explain why it was a beta version-only affair, because it was a stock track and had nothing to do with the actual BGM of the final game release.

I can't believe they chose No Leaf Clover. I love that song
Im gonna be honest, VS Super Buu sounds WAY more like Cowboys From Hell to my ears than it does Rush. didn't know rush was canadian tho, so thats neat
2:56 Piccolo’s theme from Super Budoten 2 also sounds like the opening to Lupin III Part 3, SEXY ADVENTURE.
Dragon Ball has been K.O.pyrighted!
This video is really interested and I know there's a couple of other two Super Butōden 2 tracks are suspiciously similar as well. Cell's Theme is a copy of Pink Floyd’s One Of These Days also used as as one of the theme songs of the wrestler Abdullah the Butcher & Trunks' Theme from the same game uses the intro to Keiji Mutoh’s Hold Out theme song from New Japan Pro Wrestling when he wrestled there. Also I was doing a video on this subject, is it ok that I give you a shout out?
I may be STRETCHING here, but I get La Caution - Thé à la menthe vibes(or the laser song from oceans 12) from the last one
I have a whole list from two different games: Earthworm Jim: Stage: "what the heck" first part sounds like "night on bald mountain" by Modest Mussorgsky "Use your head" stage sounds like "Space cadet" stage one of full tilt pinball Earthworm Jim 2: "Villi people" sounds like "moonlight sonata first movement" "Game show" sounds like "clarinet polka" "Puppy love" sounds like "Tarantella Napoletana" and "Funiculi funicula" "See Jim run" sounds like "moonlight sonata movement 3" "The flying king" sounds like "Cuban Pete" "Utterly Abducted" sounds like "El choclo tango"

Honestly, a lot of these aren't even technically similarities, they are just straight up the actual piece. Classical music and really old music in general don't have copyrights on them, so you can use them however you want (though recordings of these pieces might be copyrighted)
7:10 Not too far off Blue collar man by Styx either
One thing about Vs Super Buu, it was actually featured in the first DBZ Budokai during one of the Goku vs Frieza fights
I'll still forever love Hatred at 2 Power.
This one is a bit of an obscure one, but the song named "Before the Battle" from Earth 2140, also called Track #4, is pretty similiar to Dire Straits-Brothers in Arm, it doesnt sound exactly the same but there are definetly some similarities.
Another one is the track "Don't Cry" From Dragon Ball Z: Legacy of Goku is very similar to the first movement of Moonlight Sonata.
@Uncanny X I was listening to Budokai 1's "Believe in the Supreme Power" and it sounds a lot like the guitar riff from Black Sabbath's "Zero the Hero".
When are you gonna do a part three of this i really want to see more of what songs that kenji Yamamoto plagiarism that he stole
I found this purely by accident but the opening to Dragonballz Budokai 2 is Mr Big - Addicted to that Rush
0:48 This song is officially called "Royal Guard"
Don’t know if this was ever mentioned but the start up/title screen from Infinite World sounds like American Idiot by Green Day.
Wonder how many other tracks are "borrowed", recently read that Android 16's theme on Super Butoden is plagiarized from the Gremlins 2 theme. I can hear it.
I have one for a future Oddly Familiar: the song named Ebony Wings, from Castlevania Harmony of Despair, from the PS3 have the base guitar lines oddly familiar to the song Superbeast, from Rob Zombie. The same song (Ebony Wings) is present in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with a different name - Jet Black Wings and they are a remix. The original version is from the GBA Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance (this version doesn't sounds oddly familiar, btw).

Ok, the X-Men one can possibly be excused. Like you mentioned, it's likely both songs used the same stock sounds/melodies from a library. Quite a few of the Budokai tracks have stock samples in them. From vocals to drum beats to even guitar riffs. I've heard the same drum beat and short guitar after from "Spark of Fighting" in the Phantom boss theme in Devil May Cry and only the drum beat in the combat training music from Spider-Man for the PS1. And the weird chanting vocals in "Warrior From an Unknown Land" I've heard in other game tracks, like in Devil May Cry's "Lock & Load" theme. The vocal at the start of "Do It At All Risk" was also used in the Devil May Cry Nightmare boss theme Fun fact, the "Vs Super Buu" track contains two different song riffs/melodies. One is the Rush song you mentioned and the other is heard a bit later and is basically the main theme of Toto's "Stranger in Town". Speaking of Toto, their song "Child's Anthem" was ripped off for the Spirit Bomb music during Budokai 1's cutscenes. Three more blatant examples of Yamamoto's shenanigans in the Budokai series that you could maybe do a third video on along with the Toto tracks. Budokai 3's "Embrace the Sky" and Journey's "Be Good to Yourself", Budokai 3's "12 AM Shuffle" and "Ain't Life Grand" by Slash's Snake Pit and Budokai 1's "Like a Burning Wind" and "The Alien" again by Slash's Snakepit. There's so many songs he "borrowed" stuff from, it's insane.

Nothing was ripped off from Toto and Tower of Power since they were the ones who even performed the re-arrangements of their own stuff on those sessions.

for normal oddly familiar the doom theme sounds really similar to master of puppets specially the beginning.
7:12 move forward fearlessly also sounds exactly like AFI - Girl's Not Grey
1:40 Eye To Eye was also composed by Kenji Yamamoto. You can check his name credited as Composer / Arranger: www.animelyrics.com/anime/yyh/yyheye.htm
Zarbon's Theme also sounds similar to the Seinfeld theme song.
9:55 this reminds me more of the Trigun theme song
R.I.P. Neil Peart.
As a BFMV fan, I thought Hatred to the power was too similar to just another star... Yamamoto's got nice tastes in music though
You could easily do a part 3, 4 and 5 on this guy. And that's not even including his plagiarized music in the anime.
The one for piccolos theme could also easily have been Castlevania rip of as well
Number 2 also has similarities to Kylo Rens Leitmotif composed by John Williams
Here's a good future oddly familiar for you, I just recently bought Final Fantasy XV (I know I'm late lol) and I played this minigame arcade pinball and when you get to mini boss it plays this breakdown riff that sounds like Metallica - One, should check it out!
Just wanna point out that Eye to Eye was also composed by Yamamoto.
How did the No Leaf Clover rip off even happen? Yamamoto was gone long before Xenoverse was even an idea. Plus the game didn’t even get a proper soundtrack release either (because it’s not Yamamoto). Were they seriously trying to imitate his actions or something? Even as they were removing his stuff from everything. EDIT: It’s addressed a bit in the video, and apparently it was a beta-only thing.
The Beatles Yesderday sounds like one of soundracks from anime...

Thought the rush one was a bit of a stretch. Though it does sound like it could be the same chord progression. One of the few instances where it probably was copied but was actually changed enough that it isnt plagiarism. One of the songs in the last dragonball sounded like a second song aswell. It was the one ripped off from cowboy bebop. It also sounded like ooingo boingos "who do you want to be today"
