I like the fact that you dont "waffle on", just to fill minutes. You just give us the hard facts, in a clear and concise way. Great presenting.

Good tips! Fantastic idea on damp brush with chalk paint! One thing I've found true and learned from a designer is to never shake paint, Especially chalk paint. She recommends you store upside down and always keep sealed as you do, but also I turn them on the side and roll them back and forth to get a good stir. Shaking paint causes bubbles in the paint which is not good for pure color transfer when painting.

Hi Christina, I have watched hundreds of videos and nobody explains things better then you . Nobody has your simplicity of visual tutoring like you do . Nobody has your warm voice and flair of the flow. My project will be my living room floor that is 99 years old coming to the conclusion that the best way to renew this floor is to chalk paint it using a blend method of two colors . As you said if you screw up you can always repaint it .

You have such a calming voice. I have a sold dark wood chest of drawers that I want to paint. After cleaning it thoroughly do you suggest I sand it lightly before priming?

First time I have seen EVERYTHING I needed to know in one video - THANK YOU! - fellow BC lady!!! I have watched tons of videos on chalk paint with Annie Sloan herself, ("on no, you don't need to prime" - really, Annie??)and lots of other videos from ladies in the painting world - and have finished alot of furniture myself, sanding, stripping, swearing - yes swearing - and staining. Having finally pried open a can of chalk paint for the first time, I painted one coat on my beautiful vintage drop leaf storage table, found bleed through so now I've sanded and primed - waiting for it to dry for a day or so, then, armed with my spray bottle and new brush, I will be re-watching your video and attempting to finish my table! Thank you!!!! Soooo helpful!

Oak is a hard one. Because the oily knots come through. Best to prime oak furniture for sure. Chalk paint will not cover it and it bleeds through. So I’d like to know if a good primer as well

Thank you for mentioning CURING time. Most people don't talk about it because it requires patience, and most people don't have that. Many paint manufacturers don't mention curing time anywhere, and each paint seems to have a different time (not to mention local climate). They NEVER want to discourage the customer from buying. I find that if you don't respect cure time, strange and ugly things can happen. Also, priming: what an important step towards a successful outcome that few want to talk about. Most people are lazy and want to skip that step. A lot of people hate the word SANDING. The art of sanding well should never be overlooked or dismissed. You are a superb content provider, and a very talented artist. Thank you sharing.

I just found this...and thank goodness I did! I am about to do my very first chalk paint project on an antique Hoosier cabinet that belonged to my mother. It has several coats of paint and I have been advised that stripping it will most likely be a much bigger job than I originally thought. I think these tips will help tremendously!

You certainly have put my mind at ease. I have several pieces of older furniture that I want to chalk paint but have actually been too anxious to begin, thinking they may be ruined or the colors will not be as I had hoped. I can redo them! Such practical, good tips and even your voice is soothing. I compare this new undertaking to trying computers over 20 yrs ago, thinking I would break the machine or wipe all good work away. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Thank you, Christina. I just subscribed & I see a big light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm new to this so I'm watching lots of videos trying to figure out what brands and colors to choose. I also would like to know how well top coats and different finishes mix across brands. off to watch more of your channel!

I just want to say that I am so HAPPY for REAL that I came across your channel.I LOVE YOUR DIYS, TIP/TRICKS, Painting &all else. I like how u make it sound so easy. I'm the type of person to panic if I have been on diy to long or at the end of the day I'm getting upset because I only accomplished 1 project.i know &feel that u feel Confident about the way it works out and it's ok if you didn't get more.done but yet calm and you make me feel like it's ok maybe the next project will not be just 1 but 2 . I just want to say your wonderful I not only get INSPIRATION from you, but love the way your voice>sounds while showing/teaching/Inspiring us. All your videos are just UH,UH,WELL I WILL SAY WITHOUT YOU I WOULD GO AHEAD AND SAY GREAT I LOVED IT. BUT WITH YOUR VIDEOS I CANT JUST THAT B.C. OF YOU CHRISTINA, IM in a zone when watching your videos b.c the confidence u have, #1This one should have been #1, I Love watching you b.c you are You with attitude confidence, & calming, inspiration I get from you. I haven't yet seen u get AGGRAVATED, aggresive, overly aggressive and more but all this time yourself does not change your voice does not change most of all I dont see u Trying to be someone else.❤🌠 . I haven't went through ur playlists but just wondering if you doe hometours seasonal deco rdiy tutorials, wreaths, organizations But I'm in process of moving into a Log cabin and 2 bdr, 2 1/2 bthr, dining room, kitchen and it's big enough to put like a table/2 chairs, pantry. 3 huge rockstone fireplaces one in each bdr,& o e in living room I want more of a Shabby chic farmhouse to modern farmhouse. This cabin has original self made logs I guess u would say but outdated on floors in kitchen and dwn stairs bdr. Living room hardwood but dull, I'm gonna try to wax them dining room has this paneling looks yellowish that purposely was burnt y'know how they crafters use a woodburner staircase is hardwood and there is the most bdr&bth. The 2 dwn STAIRS fire places has huge openings and no doors. U would probably have to special order them. I thought about closing dwn STAIRS bdr. Fireplace off. Anyway I wanted to tell u about the cabin that was built yrs ago and they done something to home but put original logs back on. Not sure what but it's not updated, yellow. Tubs, pink sinks, lantern chandeliers which I lime those but actual could use updated lighted latern chandeliers. Also it's hard to sit things on mantel b.c. rock is not level.im renting this but very expensive monthly rent would/could you tell me how to make this rent friendly by doing some things to the home to make or do more modern or shabby.i need to buy a new to a good used farmhouse table, what kind would you prefer if u were going to pick & a new couch with throw pillows on it& what color would. U turn to? I'm behind when it comes to moderation for each home look a person picks. & big rugs . Course cant get rugsfor each room right now. But im.trying to get custody of granddaughter & shes in a terrible situation, she is 22 months old. She doesn't need to be in the atmosphere shes in .so I live in a small town in Virginia and this was the only thi g for rent.if you had this home and was trying to be rental friendly and did I forget it's got paneling (dark)although except half bath. No only tenant lighting the walls up &floors &thought about closing 2 fireplaces up with plywood board bt would u mind giving input PLEASE??? IT IS PRIVATE ,LOVE THAT. IVE BEEN LOOKING ON PINTEREST BUT NO LUCK.I DONT HAVE FAMILY TO HELP BUT THEIR ALL GONE IF YOU DONT OR CANT I RESPECT THAT.. THANKYOU CHRISTINA!🙏Thanks again I have been wanting to try to make all the chunky blanket & pillows basket & etc. But haven't got around to it, been busy moving. Just found alot of things out b.c. they live in Tennessee and my mother -n- law just passed & 2wks after that my biological brother was like a son figure b.c. my HUBBY adopted him @young age and his wife left went back north after a professor and student relationship & found d out she was pregnant by her professor and left....not only his biological mother gave us up and I was the only female figure that was around him that threw birthday parties and school shopped just as a mother & he said he looked at me as a mother figure. ,but he just passed away right after mymother-in-law. I was very close to both of them Now I'm in court for custody; andshes not even 2 yrs old . I have one older sister than me. I'm 45 &also 4 brothers, 3 brothers older than I but the brothers I had guardianship over was younger as I said but I everyone has passed away except my mother @73 & 2 Very hard working brothers who my husband and I have let come in and try to help them but they were very much illiterate they cannot read or write. I'll ask mother come dwn see me and I'll take her out to eat and get our hair done, and have a great couple of days but she says NO she always has some kind of appointment, I try but oh well. No go I was in shock LITERALLY when brother/son figure passed to keep my husband from having heartattack. Hes older than I but we have been married 33yrs and now we are separated but still bestfriends. His idea. I would love to hear your ideas. I just found ur channel &watched 8videos and I really like you& your calmness. I would love have ideas ,pictures, of how to do this with renting the house . I have court for granddaughter next week and I'm not through moving & nothing situated nothing but I want to THANKYOU for ur time and OPINIONS, inspiration and etc. From a small community/town in S.W.V. .

Very helpful guide. About to start my first chalk paint project, a small book case. I hadn't planned on priming but I will now. Considering temperature and drying time, I will paint inside the house and not in the garage.

I love this video. I wish I had watched it *before* I started chalk painting some oak kitchen cabinets that had pretty good coat of varnish on them. I've painted all of them with one coat of Annie Sloan Chalk paint original white. A few of the drawers I have painted a second time. But they still end of looking distressed and not super white. I'm thinking about doing sanding the cabinets down, applying primer to all of them and the then painting the last coat. I will say, adding water to the paint does help a lot. I think my first coat was too thick. Do you think adding the primer and sanding will help?

Thank you for another great informative video. You explain things so well - great tip re buying smaller sample sizes of the not so neutral colours. I'm itching to try using corals and pinks next. Cheers from Sunny Coast - Down Under.

I've never used chalk paint, but I will soon. All of these tips are very useful for someone just starting and I'm glad I watched before starting my project. As an acrylic artist, I'm all about the water bottle! Nothing more useful. Curing is also important for everything from acrylic to oils to wall paint. Just let it sit and acclimate and cure and I've been much happier with projects. #6 is awesome! Don't be afraid! It's just paint and a little bit of time. And if you're creative, you can always make something work, even if it's a re-do. I can't tell you how many canvases I've covered with gesso and started all over, whether acrylic or oil. Question: I understand you can mix chalk paints, but can you adjust tints and tones with acrylic paint? Heavy pigmented acrylic paint shouldn't thin it significantly, especially if you're toning.

Thank you Christina. Love watching your videos and learning from you - also live in BC where the weather can be extreme 😊 I have been having fun with furniture, but would like to do a wall. A vintage Paris wall. I’ve noticed a beautiful wall in the back ground of some of your finished projects. Did you paint your wall , and if so , do you have a video of the project? Thanks again for you fun and informative videos. You rock 🤗
