I live in New York and it takes 6 weeks from buying a handgun until the County Sheriff's department (only 1 person is in the concealed carry permit office) and a County judge signs off on your purchase and issues a coupon (permission slip). You take the coupon to your FFL, pass a background check, and then you can take your purchase home. I would love to wait only 10 days.

Where in NY, I live in Erie County, NY and I don’t have that trouble. I buy handgun, I bring receipt of purchase to clerks office, they add gun to my ccw and give me receipt, I bring receipt back to gun shop, pass background check and pick up gun the same day.

I assumed all the NY counties were the same regarding the purchasing of handguns and semi-auto rifles. Of course, New York City is an entirely different situation altogether. So far, Erie and Rensselaer Counties have chimed in with much shorter waiting times. Do you guys have to have a judge OK the purchase? There are 62 counties in New York. Can everyone chime in with their procedures and waiting times for purchasing a handgun or semi-auto rifle? We are all dealing with the unconstitutional laws that The Tyrant Hochul and her legislative minions are coming up with every chance they get without any consequences on their part. The waiting period for a new gun, hasn't really bothered me to much. But when you have to ship a gun you own back to the manufacturer for service through an FFL and when it comes back to you, there is another waiting period. Now that one pisses me off.

In just a few years,the waiting period in Washington state went from a 10 day wait on handguns to now a 10 day wait on ALL firearms. Next it'll probably be a 10 day wait and/or a"background check"on ammo. That's my prediction anyway.

You already have to wait in NY. You buy a gun and leave with only a bill of sale. Then, that goes to the county and you wait 3 weeks to get a slip in the mail. Only then, can you pick up your firearm.

She was a victim of an assault in 2021 due to liberal Governor and DA politics on crime. Now we have to look over our shoulder the rest of our life for her attacker and keep going to court every 2 year to renew the restraining order. We know how bad waiting periods are. On Jan.1st,the waiting period was extended to ALL firearms! On top of that,the sale of ALL semiautomatic centerfire rifles with detachable magazines,threaded muzzles,pistol grips,etc,as well ALL handguns with threaded barrels,and ALL magazines that hold more than 10rds,are now totally banned for sale in Washington(except to"law enforcement",of course). To add insult to injury,and rub our faces in it,we now have to be"trained"before we can buy ANY semiautomatic rifles or handguns! What's next? A 10 day wait on ammo is my prediction,followed by a 30 day,or 60 day,or 90 day wait,or.... Washington(and Oregon)were thoroughly californicated in a relatively short period of time,so we're now the"left"coast! Looks like Maine(and New Hampshire)has the same problem with the massholes from Assachuchetts infesting your state!

When it comes to proposed anti-2A legislation the two states that concern me the most are the states of CA & NY. They are the two states that tend to pass legislation that are extremely anti-2A. I live in Arizona and with all the California transplants, I am worried about any proposed legislation will start to resemble laws in CA. Arizona has very liberal firearm laws and I would like to see this trend continue.

Try to put a waiting period to vote! Or a limit to voting. U can vote this year but then u have to wait 2 years to vote in any other elections. These people are pro democracy but only the rights they agree with!

Hello NY 👋 CA here. You'll also have to do this every time you buy a firearm. Every...single...time. Doesn't matter if its your 2nd firearm or your 20th. There are extra fees too. Some gun stores can charge you a storage fee. While you’re forced to wait they are forced to store it away for you.

These anti-2A efforts by various states and localities will continue, in my opinion, unless and until the laws are changed to include civil and criminal penalties for anyone convicted of violating a person's 2nd Amendment rights. Now whether it takes a law(s), or a Constitutional amendment to alter this situation, I don't know. But, I maintain that the status quo will remain unchanged, until our elected representatives are forced by political necessity to change things to guarantee that our 2A rights are enforced.

Th 2a shouldn't depend on the state you live in ! We have more than 20,000 separate gun control laws on the books across the United States of America, and not one of them has ever prevented a crime ! Yet they continue to pass more laws ? They just don't see the folly !
