Californian here. With all the talk about California gun control and gun bans, mark my words - none of their gun control schemes are about safety. Not the roster, not "background checks" for ammo, none of it. It's about the government capitalizing on an industry and creating revenue streams for the state government at every turn. As soon as you realize this, it all makes sense.

I've been in California my whole life. I've given up complaining about politics and politicians. I just keep funding orgs like FPC, and wishing them luck. In the meantime I'll just do what I gotta do to get what I wanna get

I've seen California gun shops over the past few years add a $200 markup on almost every gun sold here whether it's a pistol, rifle and shotgun. I suspect the distributer and gun shops taking advantage.

Plus taxes. Plus DROS fees. Out the door, you're looking around $850.

I work at a gun store in California and I’ll tell you right now, cost isn’t even close to 500. It’s more. And I’ve seen off roster 365s go for 2k. Just figured I’d share my experience. We charge what we have to keep the lights on.

Unfortunately I live in California and can't afford to get out at this time. I will have to be happy with what I currently have, and wait until I can move to a more "logical" state. Thanks for your great updates. You always rock Brother!

Florida is exploding like crazy and if you don't move anywhere around the coast below I-4 or so it's really not horribly expensive I don't even recognize my town anymore because of how many people have moved here but I hope they're all doing it for the same reason you want to we welcome people seeking shelter for their freedoms

My local gun dealer is taking pre-orders for the Ca. compliant P-365's which I was required to pay in full ($699.00 plus all the other stuff was over $800.00 out the door) and they are estimating about a month out on the first deliveries. I have been wanting a Sig P-365 for a long time and was willing to pay the price, I traded in my 2 month old Ruger Max 9 on it because I hated the trigger ! It was cheaper than moving out of California but I am considering it ! 😁

$730 is dirt cheap for a 365 compared to before it got on the roster. The 365 was selling for $1500~$2000 off roster.

I’m not crying about it, I’m just happy we got 2 new guns added to the roster. As someone who lives in California I’m already used to overpaying for everything.

Can you legally go purchase a unit out of state?

I was quoted $1050 for a p320 M18 from a private FFA. Ended up paying $699 at Sportsman's Warehouse.

We always get screwed here in comicalifornia. Almost used to it by now.

Turner's and another small shop charged $730 for p365 before fees and taxes.

I remember seeing FFL''s advertise the P365 (prior to making the roster) for $550, but for law enforcement. During that same time, I've also seen it sold for $1,500 on the secondhand market.

It is crazy, however, the pricing of the P365 is still lower than aftermarket Off Roster pricing. I will be getting one regardless!

I work at a gun shop in CA. IIRC our cost from the distributor for the new m18 is like $610 or so. I think the 365 is around the same.

That's the first thing I noticed when they first came out, I got excited for a second until I saw how much they were charging. You're right, it's kinda like an Off Roster price, even though the LEO's were charging 1200 plus for the PPT prices.

I ordered a stripped receiver. It was very recently prized from Palmetto State Arms here in California just to do the paperwork. They charge me over $150 by the time it was at the door it was well over 200 bucks they price gouged you on everything gun wise.

The most delicious thing is I was stationed in CA at Fort Irwin NTC in SoCal and because it was an Army base the CA gun rules did not apply to us. We also had guns for sale inside of the PX that bypassed those laws. The envy of other shooter at the civilian ranges was epic. I don't know how many times I was told "You can't have that AK/AR in CA" by locals. The best part is I joined in 2000 from San Francisco and when I retired from combat injuries in 2014 there was no way I was going to retire back to Commiefornia. I chose a nice gun friendly red state out in the country and built my own range in my backyard. I 100% agree if you have the opportunity to flee CA do it ASAP!

Bingo! I was so excited when this was announced, but for $749, I'll stick with my G26 Gen3. Even the M18 went for the standard retail price when released. Just can't bring myself to pay such artificially inflated prices for anything (even if I want it - a lot)!

I moved out of that state, but I bought an off roster P365 when I was still there and I paid $1300. $700 still feels like a “deal” in comparison.

Be patient... the price will come down... after the initial rush of orders. It's absolutely supply and demand! The distributor is anticipating a lot of people wanting them and will sell them at a higher price as long as people are paying the price.

Most likely a percentage of the higher cost is due to a separate production process.... that said... it's likely that the manufacturer is capitalizing on the higher demand caused by our laws in California.

Off roster is around $1300 on Calguns, I think the price for the CA P365 is a little bit high but not by much. On roster M&p shields are now going for $559 as a reference point so I’d say around $640 would have been a reasonable price for a p365 with optics cut. We Californians appreciate that Sig is working on brining new guns to the very specific California market and many don’t mind paying for it. Would be nice if they brought the other flavors as well like the xl and macro since it puts people like myself who want an XL or Macro to off roaster ppt prices after buying the grip modules slide barrel and mags.

Last year at a gun show in Sacramento California there was one guy who was selling a Sig 365 for $1,895 and I had found some other gun stores with the same price. Glock 43 is selling for $2,000 here in California when you can find one. So if I can get a 365 for $745 it is a fair price. But after 6 months the price will be lower. Turner's does this all the time. They will list it high just to get people who want it badly.

I'm from California and contemplating getting the P365, but conflicted because the M18 is the EXACT same price as the p365. Or wanted to go for the ruger max 9 and just get it optics cut since it doesn't have it in California, those only go for $380

I still find it pretty weird how sig keeps on winning these military contracts and now all of a sudden their pistols are getting added to the roster 🤨🤨

When FFLs were doing Single Shot Exemption mods to guns, they would tack on $100 as an SSE fee, and honestly, most FFLs actually did NOTHING to actually do the SSE part ... which is why it was shut down as an option.

I guess we are just happy it’s not 1400. We’ve been getting screwed for over 10 years…. So everyone’s just happy to see anything added

I purchase my ammo in Nevada. A day of gambling, good food, a little shopping for ammo and a two hour drive back home to California. I always get a big thank you when I explain where I am from plus a big chuckle. I suggested that they send a big thank you to Newsome.

That's part of the curse of Cali. They need to add a loaded chamber indicator, needs to go through the drop testing regimen, and given Cali's wont to define different models based on color it may mean that the FDE, black, Olive colors need to be tested independently. Cali is ridiculous on guns because if they treated cars the same way the "roster" of Honda Civics would have thousands of different "models" that would need testing. Imagine, you want a "whatever" Blue Honda Civic in "EX" trim with "leather seats", "that are tan", and built in "gps nav" on the head unit. Under Cali gun law, each color car, seat material, seat color, radio, etc. Each one need a unique UPC. Now imagine how expensive it may be getting each gun UPC approved in Cali. I can't honestly say I blame Sig, or anyone else for sucking as much from Cali as they can provided they do it to LEOs and gov't too.

It is very possible that manufacturers are having to pay higher insurance premiums for anything sold in California to cover future litigation costs

Initially there will be a premium but i've seen the 365x with red dot for about 60 over other sites out of Cal. Remember they had to develop a model to be in compliance and Off roster prices were around 1500

I am living this as we speak. I just bought a new CA-compliant SIG P365. I'm an FFL. I have a gun store. My wholesale cost on the 365 is greater than the MSRP for the other 49 states!!! MSRP on the 365 is listed at $775!! The CA-compliant model is the exact same as the non-CA model. The non-CA MSRPs @ $599. Ridiculous!!!! Oh, and "off roster" prices are a lot higher than $775. We sold a 365XL on consignment not too long ago for $1,500.

Home and apartment construction in Nevada from Californians moving to Las Vegas is off the charts. They're putting in as many apartments, condos, and homes as they can move. Every contractor is booked solid. If they keep coming here California will soon be insolvent. You can already see the signs of collapse there with the huge spike in homelessness.

You are forgetting that CA legislature just approved an 11 percent tax on top of the already high taxes imposed by CA on gun manufacturers. The manufacturers warned that the cost would impact CA consumers as they would pass on those increases to buyers. Kind of like what happens to gas prices and now fast food prices in CA. You can thank our brilliant state legislature and Governor for the high costs

If the gun doesn't usually have a chamber loaded indicator or magazine disconnect, but the CA version does, the CA version is a different model. The manufacturer might play ball with CA and claim it's not, but it is. That new model will be the red-headed stepchild, meaning that it will be hard to sell anywhere but California. California is constantly trying to find ways to ban more guns, so the manufacturer has no guarantee that the hard to sell model will have a market after the next legislative session. With the stroke of a pen, that manufacturer might have thousands of these guns that can't sell.

Even employee pricing for turners is just 619 still super high

Everything in California is higher a can of Bush Bake beans cost 2.99 in Texas and cost 4.99 in California

The P320 was 200 hundred more than the average prices. I was wondering if Turners was price gouging their customers just to take advantage of people panic. I think it's shameful of them especially since they should be supporting their customers. In the long run they would get better customer loyalty knowing we aren't raked over the coals.

Turner's is big on doing that. They use to sell the High-point 9mm for $130. But after covid the price is $199. for it. And that is their so called on sale price.

California went down the tubes in the 80s what a shame that the Democrats and Hollywood ruined such a otherwise beautiful state. I moved to Texas in the 80s and I am so sorry to see California in such a mess politically.

I would never pay that price for a 365. They think they can gouge us because it's new to us. Not going to happen 730 is ridiculous. The cost of getting a pistol onto the CA roster is quite significant. Sig has to pass that cost along. Corporations never pay taxes or fees, their customers always do.

If they have a assembly line and they had to r and d, yes it could absolutely account for that. The market for CA complient weapons are only being sold to CA complient states which is a smaller market. Initially coatn1,000,000 to make something and you expect to sell 1,000, you would need to charge 1,000. if you only expect to sell 500, you would need to charge 2,000. And then because it's california, how long will they be able to sell the platform? So now it's not just I expect to sell 500, I expect my ability to sell is 6 months AND I expect to sell 500.

It is better than paying 1200 to 1500.. but still yeah... I got mine for 499 on sale.

I preorder one the price tag was $799+ tax & dros after all that grand total was $1026.31
