This movie would’ve been a 10/10 if it wasn’t marketed as a Cloverfield sequel. Most people who watched the first one already knew that the alien apocalypse was real, taking a bit of the mystery and tension from the film. John Goodman is a badass actor though, I loved this movie

@@69savage76 Basically the Particle Accelerator from the 3rd movie is how they are connected.

The original idea was that Cloverfield would be a brand rather than a series. They would take the fame from the original Cloverfield and release similar relatively small budget scifi projects that wouldn't otherwise get made. They wouldn't be connected in any way other than that. Cloverfield would be like Tales from the Crypt of Twilight Zone. The decision to make them related plot-wise is just tedious.

Fucking perfect movie and reaction. 10/10 movie was never about Goodman's twisted ass character, though he was as interesting as a villain should be and expertly portrayed. She was primarily defined by her capability, and personally i would have liked a more grounded understanding of her life in this situation and people she would want to survive for. But despite that, she played the capable protagonist perfectly- a protagonist that holds a special place in my heart for her name and badassery! It's also just a really a fun twist on the prison break/captivity thrillers.

John Badman Dude’s character is like Chris-Chan with a gun.

I liked this movie, i didnt expect that kind of a twist at the end, I thought the dude is crazy and that's why he's keeping them down there. Also the first Cloverfield movie is also good imo.

Only cloverfield movie I've seen. I broke my rule about not watching a movie series out of order, and it was worth it, I loved this.

This movie was surprisingly good I went to see it and was like okaaayyyy…

I'm a fan of the original cloverfield. Its unique. LOST easter egg in the first 30 seconds btw.

The original Cloverfield is a great movie (IMO) - one of my favorite horror flicks. This was just kind of Eh but the performances were top notch. I think there is another Cloverfield called Paradox which was very interesting in a totally different way.

Reminds me of Hard Candy! Limited cast, awesome story and delivery.

more MEW in everything. can't wait to see her in the action-revenge movie Kate coming to Netflix in Sep.

YES! I love this movie. The best out of the Cloverfield series. Michelle is a survivor. She is right up there with Ellen Ripley and Sarah Connor. LOL at Cash's theory on John Goodman's character's motivation. 9:22-9:32 Never seen you two look so shocked before. Especially Cash. Welcome to the fight, Michelle.

Jimmy...Have you ever seen the movie "Misery" with Kathy Bates? Maybe a film to consider.

The 2011 movie The Divide kind of explores a similar theme with a slightly larger cast (and on a lower budget). It had some interesting bits in there as well and is a darker movie, overall. Kind of expected coming from Xavier Gens.

You gotta see the 2008 cloverfield movie. None of the reactors I have watched have not seen it

Great thriller but that ending could be cut completely.

You absolutely need to check out the original Cloverfield. Interesting to watch in the reverse order.

Because his friend Marcus (with no disrespect) isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. Give him a few explosions, action scenes, and a joke or two and he'll say it's the greatest movie ever. Doesn't care about the writing, directing or message of a film. Basically all goes over his head. Jimmy deserves a better reaction partner but, you don't really choose your childhood friends in life.

Can't disagree with Jimmy at all. He's spot on. The movie is everything that takes place in the basement and then the escape. The alien sequence isn't necessary but pretty weird and a fun bonus lol.

The way i see it the alien sequence kinda redeems John Goodmans character. He's still a crazy doomsday prepper nut and got the wrong idea, but imo it emphasizes his good will. It makes sense that someone like him would add something like "aliens are invading, so the first thing they'll do is poison the atmosphere". If the alien was missing, he would just be a nutcase, i think. Without an external threat, the internal threat becomes absolutely evil, if you will. Instead we are left to ask, if it would have been better to just stay in the bunker, or rather if it had been smarter not to destroy it for good and if getting out of the bunker was the best result, which also is a neat hook for a potential sequel/crossover.

He kidnapped her because he's an awful guy, and didn't even want to let Emmett in the shelter. In fact he broke his arm for trying to get in lol. Your point is very interesting, I just think he's a bad dude though

You've never seen Cloverfield? You're missing huge amounts of context. There's a series of movies and more coming - you can't say "no resolution" until you've seen the others - this is the middle movie in the 3 that currently exist. This is like watching Alien Resurrection first or something.
