10 CENT BEER NIGHT Turns Into a RIOT | Scary Fascinating
Who doesn’t love a cheap beer at a sporting event? That was the idea at least for a promotion from the Cleveland Indians during a game against the Texas Rangers on June 4th 1974. Having a team that lacked talent many of the home games in the early part of the season saw 85% of the seats unsold. Due to that, the team's vice president scrambled for ideas to improve crowd size and after an employee suggested the highly popular idea of ten cent beers, the date a few weeks later was set.
This is the story of 10 Cent Beer Night.

You left something out- The beer company had hired a couple of models for the event. When the beer company sold beer directly to the fans, they had those girls sell the beer by themselves. After awhile, the girls got fed up with the harassment, and walked off. This left those taps unattended except for the crowd. Some people were just placing their mouths on the tap and turning it on while drinking.

Though not really scary, definitely fascination! Thank you! A count of injured people would have been interesting.
Who would've thought a promotional 10 cent beer night would go so awry? 😂 Good thing it wasn't in Philly. They get a little out of control here. It could've only ended badly. And started badly. And throughout the night go badly.....
