I'm really glad you mentioned obsidian. It is a bit plain but with all the plugins you can get it's really versatile, not laggy, and convenient.

Definitely would like a link to the aggregation list you talk about at 6:20! So I'm just starting to get into these tools and don't mind paying for one, but it feels like there is no "best" one? So then I'm left with which set of 2-3 do I need? Like can I draw my maps in Inkarnate then use World Anvil to manage my meta data and timeline and all that? It seems like World Anvil, Campfire, and Legend Keeper all do very similar things. Do you know what each one can do that the other can't? I feel like it would take a week with each tool to figure that out. Lastly ... do you know if any of these tools (ex: World Anvil) can manage multiple "worlds" at once? So like if I wanted to use the tool to document an ongoing campaign and where we've been, etc, but then I also wanted to be building up a different world in the same tool, can any of them handle that? Thanks for the video ... nice to see all the info in one place.

While I can't answer which world logging tool is best between World Anvil, Legend Keeper, and Campfire, I can answer the other two. The workflow stated in your first paragraph works well and is what I have done in the past. For the last one, I've only used World Anvil, but it follows reason that the others would follow suit. Yes you can manage multiple worlds. I believe WA lets you manage 2 or 3 for free, but I could be wrong. Hope this helps!

Are you using plugins in obsidian? Because Notion is much simpler in functionality.

There's a lot of world map makers, but as a space opera writer, those don't really fulfill my needs. Landmarks and roads aren't that important bc of flight and most factions are larger than worlds. Cities and their individual culture are important, but the distance between them is not. The only relevant data about them is the landscape they're built on, whether they're in the rainforest or desert for example. I can get away with just describing those things. The only maps I might want to make are the galaxy map, and one map of a hoopworld (donut shaped but less thick), but both of those aren't really supported by these map makers. The hoopworld map could be made by two ring shaped maps, but there'd be a lot of stretching and it'd be difficult to make.

As an artist myself, I get the need to make money, but I really dont appreciate how he made it seem like his website had entirely free resources, and then I go there and theyre not and I think 'oh I guess the folders at the top are the only free options' and I click the character values wheel, which Im not even expecting a paywall, but if I was I would think that would be the cheapest one, and theres a $9+ paywall? JFC.

This complaint is pretty unwarranted. There are 60+ entirely free tools and resources I've compiled for authors, all on that page. The 10 or so paid resources are clearly marked as such. If you don't want those, the 60+ free resources on that same page are more than useful, and took quite a lot of time to compile.

Kinda agree , though i liked the video. Not taking no ones side but the creator could just tweak the sight then gave you a fake apology. BECAUSE AS A CONSUMER TO THE PRODUCT WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO NIT PICK . Its rough but it makes money and save image to just bite your tongue. Love the video though
