I'm surprised the Cody Rhodes Vs. Orange Cassidy match wasn't on this list. The 20 minute time limit draw is a great and Orange Cassidy was one second away from becoming AEW TNT Champion. It was that good.

And me too.
Cody leaving AEW is a weird example of throwing the towel to early. I never felt like Cody needed to reinvent everything about him to really connect to the audience again. A less flamboyant Cody, an honest acknowledgement of the people's reaction towards him and a storyline, where he has to grind his way to a more humble, open-minded place in the company could have manifested him as a pillar of what AEW is and does. With WWE it would take two miracles to make it what he hopes it to be ...

I love Cody because he is the main catalyst of making AEW.
I will continue to think that Cody leaving for WWE is just a massive work until we see him in WWE. He's not stupid, he knows damn well how he'd be treated if he went back there. What i think this is is the beginning of full heel Cody Rhodes, he "abandoned" the fans, AEW and all his promises and will return to challenge for the title and win. Massive heel heat there after his original promise that he wouldn't challenge for it again.

Honestly, if he goes back, has a somewhat successful run in the WWE on a short term (year or two) long contract. Then goes BACK to AEW as a full blown heel, it’ll be one of the best character developments in pro wrestling history. He mentioned in an interview that what he had planned for his character was something that “hasn’t been done before”. The whole “i don’t care if they like me or not, I’m still gonna do me” thing was already done by Cena. But this would be different. Maybe it’s really just him wanting to prove himself to his ex (WWE) and that’s it, or maybe he’s thinking long term, only time will tell. If he does come back, he has to immediately go for the world title.

His title match with Jericho was underrated. The story telling of the dive gone wrong and that lion tamer in the end.
I know a lot of people like to bash Cody, but I honestly loved him there and I'm going to miss him. I hope things go well wherever he goes.
Cody's open TNT Championship challenges were a highlight of early AEW and was imo some of his best work to date. Same with some of those early promos. Cody's character arc has been very unique and I',m eager to see what becomes of him in his 2nd WWE run.

He put over so many young stars...that is un-goddamn-deniable...I just wish we would have seen his heel turn on Hangman and challenge for the title, betraying the fans, that would have been genius storytelling...

I like cody Rhodes in aew. Best promos. Great match against his brother blood and all. Overall great list ADAM. Thank you Cody. You the OG of AEW
Cody: "Hey Vince" Vince:"Hey Stardust" Cody:
Cody wrapping his tie around his hand to punch through the glass door to get at the Inner Circle is my favourite memory from early AEW
This was the list i needed today
That full gear go home promo is still a top 5 AEW moment imo
For better or worse that company won’t ever be the same without Cody
His 1st TNT title run was legendary and then he won again and then again which tarnished what he did 1st time. Not going after world title but always getting TNT belt, cody beating sammy and not turning heel is still weirdest booking and then he left with a banger. Never got hype behind him but he always put 100% on what he was doing may be it's right or wrong. AEW will miss him for sure.
Before even watching the video, my favorite Cody moment is that match against his brother! It's my favorite match of 2019, and had so much emotion put into it from the two guys! Absolutely loved it!
2021 was not his best year, but Cody is a drama king and that's actually what I like about him. Yes he's a lot at times, but then again what the hell is wrestling if not A LOT. Can't wait to see what he does next.
ADRENALINE IN MY SOUL HYPED FOR ADAM'S FANTASY BOOKING OF CODY RHODES
First time I saw his entrance. It had heard about Cody and all his good stuff for months and had just started watching Dynamite, and I was waiting to see this. And then, he did his entrance, and for a moment, it just felt special to me.
good video
The 10 Lashes story is what got me from just watching Dark because I was already watching KZread anyway, to checking out Dynamite on TV and taking time out to watch it every week
Hey I was there live for the cage match, good shit
One of the ones that doesn't get a lot of love is the KZread promo Cody did in the build to his match with Dustin. It was that promo that a) sold me on Cody as top guy-material, and b) really helped signal to me that AEW was gonna be something special.
AEW doesn’t get where it is now without Cody. Like it or not. Like him or not. No one was as recognisable to a casual audience who could also match his work rate in the early days. Best of luck to him, but I do sincerely hope he realises no one cares about his personal life enough for a reality show, and sometimes a heel turn is necessary for your on-screen longevity.

True, Cody has done a lot for this company apart from being a co founder. His matches and feuds are great, he made MJF, Darbey and Sammy stars whom will lead the promotion in coming years. But with Bryan and Punk as leaders and Mox still there, AEW have bigger draws than Cody and now they have created their own stars AEW really didn't need to pay so kuch for him. Cody should have agreed on lighter schedule deal with less money and do his own thing. Atleast Tony has send the msg that dont ask more than what you deserve.
"There are loads.. Cody Lhodes" got me there Adam 😄
I know it is cliche, but him smashing HHH's throne was the Moment i got into AEW. A defiant act - telling WWE against all odds that there is demand for an alternative AND showing that they can damn well deliver it.
Woohoo! Adam doing AEW content makes me so happy!
Gotta give adam a round of applause for that little lazy town reference. That was one of my favorite childhood shows
I think it’s really wholesome that Cody and Dustin gave each other the best match of both of their careers
Living in the Atlanta area I will miss seeing Cody doing something wild to show love and spectacle to his hometown when AEW comes around here
The moonsault off the cage was definitely big. This was when Cody was still universally beloved.
Cody vs Dustin is still my favorite moment of Cody in AEW, along with his Undeniable promo and probably my 2 favorite matches of him are vs Sammy and vs Mr. Brodie Lee, but overall I think Cody was amazing in AEW, never got that hate people have to him, and I really was behind the idea of the heel turn to finally go for the AEW world tittle, I more sad and disappointing he left a place he defined was one of the BIG GUYS and go back now to the place that he was just a Joke.
One of the best.
That voice crack when he says my brother still gets me to giggle and cry
I was in the crowd for Cody vs Dustin. So that'll probably always be my favorite Cody moment. Goddamn...what a match on what is easily the best show I've ever attended live.
"I need my older brother." Heartbreaking and amazing stuff
I was there at the first Steel cage match in AEW and Atlanta Street fight and i will say that these matches are the best moments that earned my respect for Cody
Liked this for the first 12 seconds of pure liquid gold in the form of a man's tongue.
I wasn't even onto the great AEW when it happened, but your #1 IS his #1. Cody and Dustin getting to show wwe what they missed out on by NOT letting it go down properly in their squared circle is just the cherry on the cake that is this absolute banger.
Was there live for number 9 and 7…craziness.
'Cody Loads' - I believe that's how Brandy refers to them.
It will be interesting to see how Cody will be booked when he redebuts for WWE
@bryanhathaway1004
2 жыл бұрын
If he's smart he'll barter for both an opt out option in his contract and creative control over his character. He is one of the few non WWE legends that could ask for that and get it. WWE doesn't want Cody because he's Cody. They want him because he helped found AEW. This actually gives Cody more power than if they were just looking for him to be a preformer. Plus Drew McIntyre has shown us that sometimes returning to WWE isn't career suicide.
@Noobsaibot21
2 жыл бұрын
@@bryanhathaway1004 Drew didn't ignite a war with WWE by creating a viable alternative promotion though. As for Costs booking, I'm sure he's well aware that this will be a Goldberg in 2003 type situation where he'll get a big match and a short title run but also buried. I can't imagine he will care too much though as I don't think it'll hurt his stock all that much and no doubt there's a bumper pay day in it for him.
@bryanhathaway1004
2 жыл бұрын
@@Noobsaibot21 eh I think this will be more similar to Alberto del rios last wwe contract where if he doesn't like his booking he can opt to sit out his contract at the very least. Cody, the son of Dusty Rhodes, will understand how WWE tries to punish wrestlers for daring to make a living outside WWE or compete against WWE. If he's smart he'll give himself an out from his contract that way WWE can't bury him, or at least not as badly as DDP and Perry Saturn where the booking killed their credibility or made them look ridiculous.
Cody is leaving his dad's house and moving back into his grandad,s house
I was their when Cody did the flaming table spot honestly I’ll never forget it
The perfect No.1 So right. Tearing up again. Dustin vs. Cody will always be the greatest match ever.
I was in the building for the undesirable to undeniable promo. The entire arena had chills
My favorite wrestling show period
I was at the Beach Break show, and the sheer impact from that cutter was.... indescribable. TBH, it was a little difficult sitting through the rest of the show after that match. It was a masterpiece.
8:50 the whole "I don't need a partner, I need my older brother" promo after that match makes me tear up to this day.
Loved Cody VS Malakai (right up until the non-finish, though transferring to Penta was about as good of a non-finish as you can get) for doing supernatural bollocks JUST right. And giving us Armed Anderson, of course.
That intro spiel initially made me think "Is he talking about Hulk Hogan...?" before he got to the end and I was all like "...OH, I get it."
I was at the show in Huntsville for the 10 lashes… when I say brutal… man it was a sight.
I was at beach break in Cleveland and my god was it incredible
My favorite Cody moment was that promo to set up the ladder match. His last promo in aew, for now
Cody Loads. Adam, you are a gift.
Damn Adam. I felt that intro.
That Cody VS Dustin match is in my top 5 wrestling matches of all time. I mean that sincerely.
The Brodie sqaush will always be my favorite. Brodie destroying Cody and his entire family was such a great moment
for all the "controversy" Cody vs Dustin was the match that convinced me to watch AEW and ever since then I've been a fan.
The promo after the match with Dustin is perhaps a little hoaky on rewatches, but it's absolutely worth a mention
Did you say "relatively new Lance Archer" lol I watched him wrestle local shows when I was in grade school and I'm in my 30s. And dude has been wrestling for nearly 20 years now.
Man imagine if Cody really does end up in WWE and his first promo back is a "you people" promo to the AEW crowd That would be groundbreaking
"They made my father dance" promo was good "Get The Attitude Out" was better 100% agree with the list and rankings otherwise, Adam
Saw the flaming table in Atlanta. Shit was INSANE.

Everything Cody did in AEW was for Cody. Even when he put people over he often got the better of the feud and could easily hold his head high. The thing is currently in AEW there's about 20 people more interesting than Cody and he wasn't willing to take a back seat or start losing to get other guys over. I think his best moment was the brawl with the inner circle in the halls of the arena. It was so opposite of how wwe would of handled it and super entertaining

Cody is a legend. No doubt.
Cody will be back in Storyline under a new contract that can challenge for the title, ultimate Heel work story.
Cody isn't my favorite wrestler, but there is no denying he can pull off an amazing match when it counts and he did some great things for AEW. I kind of liked the whole "not a heel but teases the fans enough to be a heel" gimmick and although it might honestly be the best for him and AEW, I will miss him with the promotion.
I wish Adam was back, hope he’s doing well

Cody vs Dustin will always be a legendary classic.
Cody is the absolute best
When Cody retires, we’ll remember him as we remember Steve Austin as Stone Cold, Scott Hall as The Bad Guy or Ric Flair as Nature Boy. Like The American Dream, Dusty Rhodes, he will always be the Face of the Revolution. (maybe American Nightmare sounds cooler but let it soak man 😎)
My favorite Cody moments are tied for first. 1. Seeing him put Malakai Black over 2. Handing Brodie Jr the red leather TNT title
the look of cody rhodes is like bryan of tekken.
Here's to hoping that as soon as Cody pops up in WWE, MJF is going to top Ollie's pun by dressing up as Doc Brown and cutting an epic promo about the future of AEW and closing with the words "Rhodes? Where we're going, we don't need... Rhodes".
Cody helped Malakai Black achieve one of the greatest debut arcs of all time.
Surprised you left out Cody handing Brodie Lee's son his old TNT title on the Brodie Lee tribute show.
