As a teen in the 60's, we wore gloves to graduation teas, proms, weddings and church.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE HATS. Beatrice, Eugenie and Katherine especially wear hats with a lot of wit and style.

I also agree with the rules. It not only keeps every one looking with class, but also sets a very nice, and high standard tradition, that we all could use an example for. Kate has kept an excellent example of what a royal should look like and act like. For this, she is highly admired and respected. Keep up the excellent image for us Kate. You are wonderful and refreshing.

Such simple style rules really, and some offices have some of the same. Absolutely no reason for Meghan to rebel against them so early in her royal foray. All she's proven in that rebellious streak is her utter silliness. Look at some of her garment choices e.g. that ill-fitting green dress with the cape and green bowl hat she wore March 2020 for Commonwealth Day, just ridiculous on her, that creepy non-stop smile and her face looked swollen, horrors! And that was Meghan's choice, nobody made her wear that.

Kate always looks lovely so the roles are good

The beauty protocol is followed for many reasons... and so those of us who don’t deal with meeting and greeting thousands of people, nor do we have endless photographers catching & snapping our every move, nor do we have to be on our feet for hours upon hours graciously making polite talk... I’d leave the rules to the Royals. Much of the protocols are just good manners and good grooming. Women wearing stockings and girls wearing tights or socks have the purpose of protecting their feet and ankles from forming blisters as well as providing extra foot & leg comfort. They provide a finished look which is the prescribed uniform appearance. Why should they reduce themselves to low or no standards? I don’t care for MM breaking protocol as it shows a rebellious and disrespectful spirit, and believe MM should put others before herself. I don’t find any problem with the Royal protocols. They are delightful and admirable. One doesn’t have to be rich to have good grooming, good manners, and to behave graciously, and not think more highly of oneself than he/she ought to.

The no colors or pale nail colors is most definitely NOT a rule, just an urban legend. Most of these rules, except the use of tiaras are not due hard rules. But they are high society best practices. They make it easier to survive hours & hours of engagement durations.

If they wanna compare, be fair and compair with Catherine Middleton prior to her wedding. Also, bare in mind they have different culture American vs. British. Meghan is the one who is adopting a new culture not Catherine. To be honest, she’s always been classic but never been British or royal before her wedding. Doesn’t mean she’s lower in dignity and class.

The Countess of Wessex often wears a burgundy or dark color nail polish - as well a light or nude color.. It's not a "rule" it's a guildeline...

Katherine is always dresses like a lady….her hair is perfect, makeup never over done…..

Every one is different from each other and I think they should be accepted as they are..

No lip gloss rule would be a game changer for me!

People have a tendency to forget that Kate is Cambridge she the next line to be Queen as far as Meaghan she's Duchess. Although, they're royalty they don't have the same responsibilities or long term goals. Harry and Meaghan can live a little bit more but still have to follow the rules.

It certainly isn’t. Etiquette states that one leaves for the ladies room. Modernity is setting in. With all due respect, HRM never would have done this even ten years ago. She likes to let her hair down in her private life, but it’s troubling when it creeps into formal occasions. I think she’s past caring. Many would not blame her. She has been through so much in her life. She’s such a brilliant person. I love her with all my heart. I simply don’t always agree with what she does.

It’s just not right to compare the 2. The media feeds it. I do think Kate is naturally stunning and graceful

KAte M., simply the best thing that happened in the Royal family. She has epitomize the perfect beauty, the class, the etiquette of a royal family as well aside from being a natural born British. I can't compare her to the completely very opposite American M.

I also wish gloves would come back! I grew up wearing gloves. In summer we wore little short ones, in winter nicely fur lined ones and over the elbow ones for formal occasions. I remember one ball I went to, for the navy, where the Admiral directed all the ladies to put their own and their partners gloves in their suspender belt ..... Lots of laughs but every one obeyed.

These are not rules. They are suggestions to maintain a professional appearance. Royal women tend to wear natural looking nail polish in case of chipping during the day since they greet so many people and shake a lot of hands. It is more obvious when colorful nails chip. Same with lipstick, natural looking shades are not as noticeable if they start to feather outside of the lipline.

I agree with the weights in the queens dress and the gloves.

There are far too many photographs of Queen Elizabeth touching up her makeup in public for her to have considered it unseemly.

All I saw and heard was you saying, if Kate does it, it’s fine, but when Meghan does it, it’s “breaking the rules.” You need to fix you’re style of comparing both of them because it’s quite obvious who you’re favouring more. She’s part of the royal family, whatever she’s doing is obviously approved.

Its like people live to be messy and just so negative.What has she done to anyone. I believe Megan is a very beautiful smart woman. Also if Dianna was alive she would just love her. People just see one thing and that she is biracial. So tired of peoples stupidity. I wish them all the happiest in the world.

The rules are simple and practical.

I follow a lot of these rules myself.

Must have been hard for the queen to control what people wear in their ears and nails.

Kate is such a nice woman and following the rules of royal family...I like her...she's pretty obedient
