That slow mo at the beginning scared my toes into a curl. Timber pilot looks like a fabulous splitter.

BEAST MODE! That was some impressive axeing. Over a cord, of axe-cut, split in an hour is some skill. You and that axe just blew it apart. Awesome! 👌 🪓🪓🪓

Impressive video! Really showed the axe's capability in the hands of a skilled axeman. I loved the flip at the end. Thanks for another year of wonderful videos. Your willingness to share your knowledge and experience is much appreciated.

I was directed here by Casterman. Impressive skill and axe. I regularly use a Canadian Kelly Dandenong 4 lb at 24 deg and a high centre line on slightly curved 28" handle but that Casterman looks as if it could be better. Thanks for the video.

Hello Mr. Michael, the TIMBERPILOT performs very well, in my opinion. The craftsmanship and haft are impressive as well. The most substantial part of the interaction has been Mr. Casterman himself. The Kelly Dandenong is a great product no longer being produced, as you well know. The poll on the TIMBERPILOT is thicker than the Kelly, but they handle in a similar fashion. Little adjustment was made in my personal transition. The edge durability is also impressive, I did not expect this level of performance personally. Thank you for visiting sir...

@@Brian2bears thank you for your reply. Yes the Canadian Kelly axe died in an industrial dispute and their weakness was the pole cracking. I am fortunate to have 6 of them ranging from 3.5 to 5 lb. When I bought them 20 odd years ago they cost me 5-10 dollars each now they are crazy money. I'm not very tall 5'6" and I now prefer the 3.5 lb on a 28" handle I wish I'd had it when I was making a living cutting firewood. The axes I have I think date from the late 40s through the 50s. I'm currently playing with a couple of Plumbs which I quite like. Kellys were very common here in NZ, strangely Hytests made next door in Australia were not. Keep up the good work.

Amazing display of skill and experience. What the axe loses at 27 degrees chopping, it excels at in splitting.

What a great series! From that beech to this cordwood challenge it’s been awesome following along with your axemanship this year. I know I and a whole lot of others learn a lot so thank you! That Casterman is a lifetime axe for sure, absolutely beautiful. Just editing to add that the sound of an axe bouncing off the hills when the leaves are down is one of my all time favorites.
