Axe Cordwood Challenge 2022: Swampy ash One Tree Challenge
One Tree Challenge complete! I didn't make it easy on myself by picking a tree in a swamp on 30C spring day. I just used one Dayton pattern boy's axe, SkillCult style.

Well done sir! Now that was a one tree challenge in a big way!
That’s a big tree for a one tree challenge! Nice work! Nice pile you have at the end too!

Thanks, I had thought I'd bit off more than I could chew for a minute there!
Nice work and bonus points for using a small axe on a big tree ! I’m pretty sure we got hit with that same storm. Was a doozy.

Thanks! Check out Kurt S' channel, I cribbed some of that style from him and he's a great axman.

Thanks!
Nice job! What size was your axe?

It’s 2.25 lbs (1kg) head on a 28 inch-ish handle so standard boy’s axe size. It’s a bit small for the job but I like to swing it!
Well done. How long did it take?

Thanks, it did take me the whole day, which is longer than I had thought. Having to move all the wood twice (once out of the swamp, and then again to higher ground when things were still too soggy) took up a lot of time. I probably should have got the hang of that little bloc and tackle hoist rather than first trying it in this situation. Also there was the weather interruption and having to take a lot of breaks in the heat. In retrospect, I underestimated the job but I definitely learned a lot getting it done.

@@MattKeevil I can identify. I opted to carry larger logs and buck them at the cord. But i reckon gum is softer so less effort to chop.
