I suppose if it was relevant they would have the Union jack. Thevflying of the cross of St George a German only came about in the 70s as a result of the Scots flying the cross of st Andrew at football games. English people football fans complained that they had no national flag. As the Union jack was always flown in England from football matches to Town halls and scout marches. It's about context isn't it. No one would call you racist for having an England flag at the world cup or Eurovision or if you were in another country and wanted to show solidarity back home if something has happened. Turning up to a rally for solidarity with the Palestinian plight with an England flag, you have to ask what their objective was for being there. Iran actually hates most of the Palestinians since they are mostly Sunni Muslims. Palestinians are used as political pawns. Look at Egypt. It refuses to let refugees through its boarder with Gaza and a large portion of Palestinians in Gaza have Egyptian heritage. Even thought they are mostly Sunni Muslims, Egypt does not care. Where is all the outrage from the Palestinians towards Egypt for not helping them? As for as colonization goes, it was the Arabs that colonized Palestine in the 600s but since at that time it was broken place, they never developed it. The Turks under the Ottomans colonized it from 1516-1918 and never developed it. Funny how they are never attacked as the colonizers. All this time Jews were still in the sparsely populated Palestine, which was not a state. Although there were Arabs and Jews in Palestine, most immigration of Diaspora Jews took place from the 1800s and after. It was the Jewish settlers that bought land from the Ottomans and revitalized Palestine. Since Economic opportunities started to grow, Arabs moved under the British. Britain in 1917 and The League of Nations committed to establishing Israel in 1922. Again, a sovereign nation never existed until 135 CE when it was a Jewish nation. The only colonization took place under the Romans, the Arabs, and the Turks, with the British controlling it for a period.
