Grant (and whomever he chooses to represent his channel), I enjoy all of your videos, associates/friends, experiments, and science tutorials. Thanks for all that you do. Mad respect from T-Rex. I'm 46 years old and I love the learning experience. (note: this is LITERALLY the first time I've EVER commented on ANYTHING on the internet, but felt inclined to make my "debut" because of all the negative comments below.) I randomly (pun intended, but literal) found you during some rare youtube surfing about a year ago and fell in love with your videos immediately. I'm a novice/freelance science buff myself and truly appreciate the things you've shown me and my sons. You, your family, and your associates are pillars in the "thinking outside of the box" structure of humanity.

Just going to say this to anyone making comments. If your making a "where's grant" comment or any variation, you'd see there is a comment posted by Grant himself. He's working on a big project... It is even pinned by him at the top of the comment section. So he IS HERE, just doing something big. In no one will see this or cal me on blasphemy, but just listen to reason. If you found my comment, 99.99% chance you saw his.

I also like the toilet paper dispenser a lot. I help run a place without plumbing, but does have a handy outhouse. We put the toilet paper in a coffee can. This is a nice way to make a dispenser! Also: in the high winds of North Dakota, I like your wick!

If you break off the tab on a soda can and blow into it/onto the edge of the hole in a specific angle, it can make quite a loud sound, could be useful if you can't do that loud "hand-whistle-thing".

Another way to get water (without waiting for a rainy day) is to get a plastic bag (one that will hold water, of course) of a decent size and fully enclose a leafy branch of a tree as tightly as possible. Don't cut the branch off. Leaves lose water through their pores which then evaporates away; but if the leaves are contained then water will collect at the bottom of the bag. The water collected will also have been filtered by the tree! My Dad did this when we were camping one year about 35ish years ago. It took a couple of hours (or maybe more - I was an adolescent then - time moves different when your'e younger) to get a large mug of water, and it tasted fine. It was a stinkin' hot day in the middle of Hattah Kulkine National Park on the banks of the Murray River bordering Victoria and New South Wales of Australia (you don't drink water from the Murray without treating it first as it is very silty and mud coloured).

The compass thing is sort of moot unless you need more precise angular directions. Sun rises in the east, sets in the west, so as long as you know what hemisphere you're in, pretty easy solve. The whistle thing, doesn't have to be a wrapper. The place I went for grade school /middle school all the kids who liked trolling before it was called trolling would pull up a blade of grass to whistle.

TKOR, How about taking a tin can and melt wax, get cardboard, cut a long strip of it so when rolled it fits in the tin, when the wax melted, pour it in the tin with the cardboard and let it dry. That way you will have a "portable can fire" that can be lit using a fire kit and can burn for as long depends on the candle you melted. (I recommend you use plenty candles so it burns for a long time.

Great hacks. Except for the coffee can to holder. Ive done that. If you put rope through the sides and hang it up. If it rains. Or heavy dew. It collects on rope. Then follows rope into the container and soaks the tp. All the other hacks are gems.

If You cup you left hand fingers and put that in your right hand and you close your right hand around your left hand you make it so there is a little hole and you blow in it and it will make a loud whistle. Or you take a piece of grass and slice the center with your finger nail and blow through it, it will also make a whistle.
