DIY: Make Swamp Water Drinkable! King Of Random Dives Into How To Make A Homemade DIY Water Filter

Have you ever wondered: Can I make swamp water drinkable? How do I purify water? How do I make dirty water clean? How do I make water drinkable? TKOR has done some random experiments in the past and in this video, we're just experimenting if it is possible to turn dirty or contaminated water into actual drinkable water. What will happen? Will swamp water actually be able to be drinkable? I'm putting my health on the line to prove a simple and effective survival hack, for getting clean drinking water. King Of Random also has some other fun tests we performed. Hopefully this gives you an idea as to what can or can’t be experimented with when it comes to purifying water.
This entertaining water experiment is perfect for those wanting to know if you turn swamp water into something drinkable, water filter, DIY water filter, how to make a water filter, how to purify water, how to purify water with sand, how to purify water with charcoal, how to make clean water, clean water, purified water, purify water with charcoal, how to make drinking water, how to filter water for drinking, homemade water filter, how to filter water, water filter DIY, water filtration system, water purifier, water filter system for home, how to make water filter, filter water, filtering water, how to clean water, natural water filter,water purification

    Two things to add here. Always boil water before filtration. Boiling kills off and breaks down any biological and some chemical compounds. This makes it easier to filter at the first two levels. Left over biologicals could create was products on the top layer which just reduce the life span of the filter. Carbon filters by chemical attraction, not by blocking stuff like sand. Carbon is naturally porous and has many natural bonding surfaces that will attract chemicals and ultra-fine particles. The finer the better. Activated charcoal is charcoal that has been treated with calcium chloride (road salts) and tripled the surface area. It doesn't hurt to have multiple layers but carbon has to be as fine as you can make it.

    Yes, the rocks and sand physically block larger impurities with a filtering action; the carbon grabs onto impurities by ADSORPTION (though it also filters near the sand layer).

    In a survival scenario you should probably boil the water before (because of what you said) and after (so any bacteria and such in the pebbles/sand get killed too). BTW, would distilling water (as in, sun evaporating and then condensing on a clean surface) be enough to make drinking water drinkable?

    A third thing to add Get some chlorine tablets for when boiling the water isn't possible / feasible. It'll taste kinda like pool water but however unpleasant that may be it's by far preferable over getting diarrhoea or worse. Always kept a few on me way back when I was in the army.

    Project idea: You should try shining a laser through a drop of that water and projecting it in a dark room. It basically makes a microscope projecter. Like so king of random can see it Edit: To make the video more interesting you can do it with different samples of water for example tap water, toilet water, bottles water, pond water, etc. And compare the results

    PoisonElectronics basically what happens when you break the glow sticks is that you expose two chemicals to each other and they react and make the light. Cooling down a reaction basically causes it to happen slower therefore the glow sticks would last longer because there is still the same amount of chemicals in there but it would also be less bright as the same amount of light is distributed over more time

    Awesome! Before I watched this video we had made this same filter (without the pebbles) in an IRL survival situation... and this works! though we found the water can come out purer if you boil it before hand as well... ? We don't know why this happens but it seemed to make impurities clump together and easier to filter and resulted in purer water as far as w could taste... also prior to filtration if you have access to mud nearby the swamp water we dug a hole near the water level about arms length deep and let water seep through the mud (not over the hole but the water has to seep through the mud)... the first few times it seeps in you have to dump that water until it becomes clearer and clearer then that at least will have improved the water before using the filter... Edit: brainplay explains in his comment why the boiling before filtration works... thanks brainplay!

    i use separate bottles for each stage and then stack them together without the lids, that way each stage can be taken out and cleaned/replaced as needed. the final stage holds the carbon in with a coffee filter before the final (and only) lid. it also makes it much more interesting to watch as you can see how effective each stage is, and potentially run tests between stages.

  • @pranav95satan

    @pranav95satan

    Grant, it might be because, the root beer would contain dissolved solids and suspended solids, the dissolved solids won't be removed from the water by filtration, it would need distillation, Reverse Osmosis (RO) or some other chemical treatments, suspended solids can be removed by filtration.
