Great video Tom but I prefer the DX5 Pro myself because I like the roller wheel feature vs the touch slider. When changing names on models it is much easier with the wheel IMO.

I bought the rugged and hated the touchpad. Bought a DX5C and couldn’t be happier.

Love the DX5 Rugged but wish it didn't carry such a price tag. I have a very used and aging DX4C I'd love to upgrade but can't quite justify the cost of a DX5 Rugged especially with no reciever included

DX5C has a LOT of the same benefits, programming wise, and is a good amount less $. I would look at this Combo (DX5C + SR315 receiver) www.horizonhobby.com/product/dx5c-smart-5-channel-transmitter-sr315-rx-combo/SPM5115C.html

I have watched countless videos telling about upgrading the transmitter which I upgraded to the DX5 Pro and can not get to the Prog Menu . The vehicle I am referring to is a Losi LMT with the SR315 receiver

@@SpektrumRCvideos OK I discovered issues on my end and got the Smart app installed and was able to update the ESC thru theV2 Programmer and the prog menu showed right up. I have tried to register my ESC and my SR315 which came with my Losi LMT Grave Digger but I can not register because I have no way to access what the serial number is. How do I find the serial numbers for the devices and do I need to update the receiver? Thank you

Smart escs are not registered in the same way as Receivers and Transmitters on the Spektrumrc.com website. If you wish to register the esc with us please visit this site - www.horizonhobby.com/register

I didn't know some of this stuff. I have had the DX5Rugged for about a year now and have about 15models on it. I initially when with the rugged when I got the SCX10 III gladiator and wanted 4 wheel steer. Since then it has been my go to. I have swapped all my SCX (2-10s, 6-24s, and 6) onto the DX5Rugged. When I initially bound to the DX5Rugged with no other settings, my throttle woke up immediately! Now that I know other features I will check it out! The only thing I wish it had was an option for back lighting. I crawl mostly in the fall, winter time so it gets hard early. I have to carry a flashlight just to see the screen for adjustments and switching models. I designed and printed a trailer that I can tow my arrmma 6S Typhon out on the trail to jumps. When I want to use the Typhon, I just drop the trailer gate, switch, and go. Being able to see the screen in the dark would be great! Other than that, perfect!

Will there be an esc upgrade available anytime soon for the scx6? Odd that the scx6 motors sensor wire is proprietary and won’t work with other esc’s. Looking for more slow speed modulation and creeping ability. Is there perhaps an esc setting to slow down the crawl so it’s not as jumpy since changing the pinion to a lower tooth pinion appears to not be possible with stock motor mount?

I would say to try changing the punch level to 1 (stock is 5) Otherwise at this time we do not offer a different Motor or ESC for the SCX6. Also Try running 2S, that has a slower crawl then 3S. Hope that helps!

Did you change out the stock receiver also? I just bought the rugged for my scx6, with the 6200a receiver, if the stock receiver does all you are showing, including programming the esc, I will use the 6200 in another crawler.

Whats the setting to get the 2 speed transmission working with the Rugged ? In Aux channel "E" I can get it to use either low or high speed if I switch reverse travel but cant get it to switch between both . What is needed to make AUX lock for high and low after hitting "E" where as right now its in low but I have to push and hold "E" for it to stay in high , as soon as I release it drops back to low

Sounds like you have the switch set to Momentary in the AUX Assign menu. Change that to Inhibit. Also for the travel settings I have 70% as the high and 130% as the low positions. That may vary depending on the servos arm position when it was installed at the factory BUT it should get you close. Adjust those numbers to get the servo to lock the gears in place. Hope that helps!

Hi Cosma! You will need to go to AUX ASSIGN and set a switch to the AUX1 channel. Set that to 2 position, leave momentary inhibited. Then with the truck on, go to the Travel menu. Adjust the travel values for AUX1, observe the shift servo and adjust the + and - ends of AUX1 travel until the shift servo is engaging in both directions with out overextending the servo and causing it to bind. I personally ended up with 75% travel in both directions but this value will be different depending on the servos spline location and geometry.

Trying to bind my new dx5 rugged to the scx6 and once it binds it connects but there’s not wheel spin when I give it throttle, steering works but no wheel spin , any idea on how to troubleshoot ?

Hi Matt! Should work fine out of the box really BUT I would double check all your motor connections and perform the ESC calibration. Also check the monitor screen on the DX5 Rugged to make sure the throttle channel is putting out -100 +100 travel and that when the trigger is at center that it is sitting at around 0 zero on the graph. hope that helps!

Ich nochmal, habe einen reely Sound nachgerüstet, lief aber nicht, nun den Tip bekommen, dass man die Impuls Leitung für den Fahrregler schaltbar machen soll. Also erst das Auto einschalten , dann die Impulsleitung für den Fahrregler zuschalten, dann funktioniert auch der reely Sound Boost Simulation.

Um, you should have included this at the retail price of $1100. Luckily I got the SCX6 on sale, making the included DX3 more of a reasonable choice.

....and where is the scx6 upgrade?

How about a backlit screen, it’s not the 1980s anymore??? I HATE the touchscreen pad. For big fingers it’s useless

Too bad it came with one of the worst servos for the application. They missed the call on that one. And then you gotta get more upgraded parts so you don't have all that slop / flex in the steering. You would think spending over a grand would get you a platform that didn't need all the extras to make it trail worthy.

I did, to a Futaba 7PXR.
