Because I love myself and dressing well is one of the most important appreciation. My inspiration is my grandpa who wore ivory suit with his Borsalino hat in the 40’s, and soccer athletes such as David Beckham, Christiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi. After all, healthy body shows what your are inside, and it DOES make a difference!

I retired from the Army almost two years ago. I spent more than 25 years wearing a uniform most days and didn't know much about style or how to dress. Your channel, along with many others that you mentioned, have helped me immensely. I work for a hospital now and dress with a purpose. Patients often think I'm a physician or the CEO because I dress like I care...because I do. My why: I am very involved in helping veterans in my community. I'm also active in veteran groups on social media. I've had a great transition and really enjoy my life as a civilian.

I work for a very large natural gas transmission company. I started out as an entry level Pipeliner and over 16 years I’ve been a station operator, mechanic and now a maintenance coordinator. With each position I dressed for the job. In my current job my colleagues still wear t shirts and jeans. I’m in my 50’s now and don’t feel like that is my style anymore. After I found your channel I really upped my dress and others have taken notice. Even my supervisor said she feels under dressed around me. I just find that I am dressing the way I feel appreciate for my age and in a way I feel comfortable. Plus, it makes me feel better about myself when I am dressed well.

12:08 - Antonio, I recently shared this with my sister, who is at times mildly annoyed that I now dress up for any occasion (and force her to dress better in the process). I told her hearing you say this in a video is what changed my mindset. The way I present myself reflects on anyone that is seen with me. If I dress like a bum, and an acquittance sees my sister, they won't say "Ruben looks like a bum", they'll say "Martha's brother looks like a bum". Once I started seeing it that way (thanks to you) those extra 5 minutes to steam my shirt and clean my shoes before heading out are well worth it.

My motivation is self respect and dignity. I hate it when dressing well and looking good is judged as vain and narcissistic. How you dress sends out a message to whoever is around you, some more than others granted. Having a good wardrobe and feeling good about myself makes me happy. Isn’t that the main goal in life? To do things that make you happy? As I’ve said, it’s important to do that with a bit of class any humility which I’ve found easier as I’ve got older. Older gents tend to avoid anything lavish and loud like big branded slogans on clothing, or torn jeans for more understated clothing.

The truth is “I don’t give a damn” about what other people think of my style, it is different than many other younger guys so they think I’m weird or different, but they are wrong I dress to impress myself and no one else, I have watched Alpha for a few months and know the importance of style, I have only now found this channel but after just a few videos felt compelled to subscribe, and the reason that “I give a damn” is that I feel comfortable dressing a little older, and I do it to make myself feel better, not to please the public eye.

I'm trying to improve my style because I want to look better and hopefully attract the right woman. I'm 22 and up till a week or so ago I had been making excuses and letting my depression get to me. I got some meds and started working on myself. In over a week I went from struggling to lift a 30 lb paver to being able to lift 106.5 lbs. I want to improve myself and not only make myself, but my family, and my community proud. I want to be able to walk the streets with the looks and confidence of a man who has his life together.

I heard a piece of advice many years ago, and I’ve maintained it ever since: “Dress the way you want to be addressed.” Life changing. It works too, and applies to your professional life, to the car you drive, to your social life, etc. I prefer to be an old-school gentleman with a modern twist - so I drive the old Jaguar, I wear the tweed suits, but guess what? I have an iWatch and iPhone at the ready. I remember that, within reason, it is better to overdress than to underdress. If you show up at an event wearing a suit and everyone else is in a t-shirt, it’s quite easy to take off the tie and jacket, unbutton a couple shirt buttons and to roll up the ol’ sleeves. You’ll still look excellent, but you’ll be much more harmonious in that way. The inverse, however, where you show up in a t-shirt to a suited event, is far more awkward. And at the end of the day, life is more fun in a tuxedo. I regularly don my white tie and tails, and sure you get some attention, but it’s all positive. Occasionally someone mentions you’re in a penguin or monkey suit, but then again, they usually are in oversized t-shirts and jeans doing their best impression of a messy potato. Don’t take style advice from someone who’s style you don’t like - be it for personal reasons or for them not “giving a damn” as mentioned in the video here. And above all - have fun with it - life is too short to wear boring clothes, drive boring cars, or live in a boring manner. So have some fun, be respectful and enjoy your life people.

I'm 38 years old and have dressed more or less like a teenage punk my whole life. I only recently decided to dress like an adult. My kids are still weirded out when I "dress up", but I figure they'll get used to it. My reasoning is, basically, I want to show that I have self respect. I work as a tree trimmer and so dressing nice for work is not.... workable. I'm usually covered in tree sap and sweat after 10 hours in the trees, I want to be able to leave that behind and look like a respectable member of society. Plus I'm increasingly annoyed with this trend of going out in whatever you slept in the night before.

My “why I give a damn” is largely rebuilding my self esteem. I spent years wearing my motorcycle attire constantly. I walked around with a chip on my shoulder as a way of dealing with complex ptsd from the first gulf war. Turns out that if you look and act like an a**hole, people treat you in kind. After years, I realized changing my look made me feel better about myself, and I treated others better. As strange as it sounds, people in turn started treating me better, which further improved my self esteem.

When I was younger, I paid little attention to style, because I felt it was shallow to judge people by their outward appearance. As I got older, I realized that I was surrounded by shallow people. I could either have my appearance working for me, or working against me. Therefore, I decided to have my style work in my favor … while avoiding the trap of making those same judgments about others.

My “why” is my 12-year-old son, as I want to be an inspiration to him and to show him what it is to be a gentleman. They say you should not dress for the job you have, but for the job you want. What your channel has taught me the past year is that if I want to feel confident and be the best version of me, I have to dress the part. I don’t simply dress to reflect who I am anymore, but also to reflect who I want to be. By now dressing, living and acting like the best gentleman version of me, I’m hoping that when my son comes to a fork in the road later in life and he’ll have to decide, in the moment, between acting like a gentleman or like a douche bag, he will choose the gentlemen way, and I will have been his inspiration for that choice, just like the advice and guidance of yourself and your KZread counterparts have inspired me to be a better man.

Antonio, you made me late for work today! I was sitting at my usual coffee spot near the ocean and opened this video. WOW. I could not stop watching and taking notes. I had to chuckle in self reflection. Wearing black inexpensive skinny jeans, black shirt and an art deco Italian print neck tie I bought at a second hand shop. My blazer is over 20 years old, my boots, brand new black Thursday wingtips. I think your messages resonate with me so much because of our parallel police/military backgrounds. After watching this I reflected on my motorcycle ride to the office regarding my 'Why'. My 'Why' stems from my Christian faith, I am a police (RCMP) Chaplain. I see my 'Why' as that of making each encounter one of helping the other person be their best. To be a cheerleader if you will. Even when I arrested folks during my policing career I tried to help them see their value and in doing this also help them to see the value of those they had wronged. So, thanks for being a cheerleader to so many of us who regularly tune in.

I'm a musician and started noticing the better I dressed the more opportunities would open up for me. in my experience it was like a red carpet rolled out for me and everything got easier. I was more confident, networking became easier, more people wanted to be near me, girls talked to me more at my shows (was already a problem and now I'm actually losing gigs cuz the workers are too busy talking to me) so perhaps caring about my style has gone so well it has even backfired lol. either way I wanna thank the men's style community on YT for being so good to us. we have some great rolemodels on this platform who are elevating us in so many ways through their teachings and entertainment. big thanks to you Antonio, Alpha M. & Jose

Great video! While I am not a gent, I believe that my look or external appearance is a glimpse of what is on the inside. My husband talks a lot about what he calls Flat Tire Theory where a flat tire is not just flat on the bottom but the entire thing is flat. In the same way, what you allow in the smallest of areas, like levin, it will affect the whole thing. Thus something that may seem insignificant is a part of the whole tire and thus each part is important to pay attention to. Because how you look is what others encounter about you first and therefore colors their future interactions with you so it just makes sense to present a good appearance that reflects the you that you intend to others.

I dress casually most of the time but that doesn't mean I can't look put together and stylish at the same time. My original inspiration was Gentlemen's Gazette but I found their suggestions to be too dressed up for my lifestyle. I used to be one of those men who didn't put much thought into what I wore, a blue jeans and t shirt kinda guy. But in the last few years I've taken on a different perspective. When I look back at pictures from the late 40s and through the 50s of my grandparents, who grew up in rural Georgia, seeing how they wanted to present an image, this inspires me. Now it feels good to dress nicer, but it feels good as well to obtain the education to know how to improve in style. RMRS has been a breath of fresh air. I look forward to each of the videos and I appreciate Antonio for putting this information out there. There these videos and others like them, I've been giving a drive towards self improvement.

My why? I'm done being complacent with my life. I'm leaving my job in 2 weeks, a job where I've just let myself be too comfortable without growth. I'm finally changing careers into what I really want to do. I want to look and feel like I belong in my new environment. I want to make sure my wife is proud of the man that I've been working to become. I want my parents to be proud of the man they raised. I want my brothers to continue to look at me as a good example for them. I want to be the better version of myself that I have been trying to become over the last few years.

I try to express myself in every thing I do, and style is the most noticeable medium. People can look at me and know what I stand for before they get to know me, and I find this to be a powerful force of nature. I've found that what matters most is staying true to myself, so that I can be true others. I achieve this by wearing my heart on my sleeve, and a matter of fact, the rest of my clothing. And being succesffuly single for a few months has helped me realize the value of self-emancipation. I subscribe to the idea of self-actualization. Also, the compliments here and there don't doesn't hurt😄

I have enjoyed the education your channel has shown me Antonio. Since finding your teachings I have taken a real introspective look at not only my appearance but also how I had let my life fall into a rut. My mid forties have felt weighted. I imagine the past few years have been rough for a lot of your viewers. It became apparent that I was not giving my all to some of the simplest aspects of ‘me’. I am the steward of two awesome daughters and a beautiful wife. Admittedly I had lost the pizzazz that brought those great things into my life. Small changes that I’ve made have made a huge difference: cut that dated pony tail, stylish fitted new clothes that are age and body type appropriate, a Scentbird membership, a classy yet modest time piece collection, $40 haircuts with quality product on the regular, etc. The confidence that each of these changes have made is making an obvious difference at my work (and home life). My decisions are more clear and concise, making me a better leader to my team. Many thanks to you and your production team.

Why do I give a damn? For me it is all about self respect and being comfortable with who you are. Over the last couple of years I have found motivation for self improvement through KZread and Instagram. I will never be thin, but I have lost weight and increased my fitness and I am happy with the results. Changing up the wardrobe slowly, find a look and keep an eye out for items rather than just buying everything all at once, quality over quantity. Emulating a style icon is a good one too. Ultimately, make sure you do it for you and no one else !

When I am dressed for work, sometimes in a suit, my 8 year old son looks at me different. I thought he would think I am uncomfortable all the time, but no. He understands subconsciously, even better than me, that adult men dress differently than kids. He likes it so much he always wants me to order him shirts and ties. Point is, your kids are always paying attention and watching you, and you should look and act the part.

The reason I give a damn about style is to first respect myself and others around. The second reason is to deliver those around me the message that I'm a quality, serious person and to attract those with similar values. I also find it fun sometimes to crack a bit this image and be outgoing and funny, in order to people to have a wide perspective of me. Thank you Antonio for being such a great role model

My why give a damn is to know how to do it right and show the love and respect to yourself. Close is also a way to communicate. I’ve been dressing the things that look good but without knowledge, purpose or goal. Therefore I have a lot of close that doesn’t fit me or my style. I always say you need to know why you do things, and the answer “because I like it” is not an answer anymore. I recently discovered you channel and I’m learning. Thank you to the love and care to men style.

It’s all perspective and I mostly enjoy when you say you as the individual has to give a damn. That means how you dress and presents yourself in and with style. In giving a damn you will continually educate yourself, find and seek inspiration in other style from others. You will improve as well evolve your style over time as your budget allows it to continuously become the best styled and dressed man in yourself. That’s why if all the things you said none of them is singularly the most important. It’s knowing and learning all those things over time that helps to shape and sharpen your style.

I am 17, but I think I can say that I am usually the best dressed man in the classroom. That is not very hard since moust of the clothing young people go for is a hoody and they don't give a Damm about how they look. Simple polo shirt is all it takes to be just little bit apart from the crowd. My dad is probably someone you would never ask something about style. He goes out with dirty and distressed clothing because he just doesn't care. So thank you Antonio for everything I learned from you in the past few years and I wish you and everybody here all the best. Greetings from Croatia.

As a youth (profile pic "aka") my grandmother always inspired us to "Measure Up" when leaving the house. It built within me a desire to strive upward. Whether striving for my Eagle in BSA, ETC(SW) Ret., earning my MDiv. or preaching for twenty years I've learned quite well that you need to dress for the role. In Stephen Covey's best-seller "The Seven Habits of Effective People". He addresses the "Why" in his first principle, "Begin With the End in Mind.". Company Mission and Vision Statements are built around that very concept. I've found a roadmap through my 64 yrs has been critical in allowing me to "Measure UP"!

I used to dress in slacks and Graphic-Tees. Then, one day, I woke up, looked in the mirror and thought, "Man... Who am I?" So, I began to do some research and boost my confidence by dressing well. I bought a couple of cheap suits, a start, and then eventually went more blue-collar (out of utility). However, I am a utilitarian sort of person so it fits. Now I only wear graphic tees and slacks on days I am staying home or partying with the guys, but whether it's for work or to pick up my kids from school, now I dress as the man I want to be. A man, 13-year-old me would have admired.

Antonio, my why is simple. I’ve lived the last 30 years in a rut. I wouldn’t say I was popular or the best dressed in high school, but I had a presence. People knew when I was in the room. Since then, through 2 broken marriages and raising 3 kids, I’ve totally lost all sense of style and confidence. So my why is to completely remake myself back into that guy that exudes confidence and power. I’m an executive level salesman in the oilfield, so the requirements for style have not been great. However, I want to change that for myself. I have hired a trainer at the gym, and currently have lost 60lbs. I’m looking so much better and the confidence is growing. What I’m missing is style. So note that my body is looking the part, I need the outside to magnify the inside. Trust me my brother when I say I need all the help I can get. But I am committed and ready to start the 2nd half of with a vengeance. I’m tired of wearing clothes from Kohl’s or similar places. I have the desire, the money, but not the knowledge. That starts today. It’s all about building my brand, the brand of Anthony Peel. Thank you for what you do my friend!

I have accomplished a lot for what I started with and I'm still not where I want to be. I want the world to know that I'm successful. But I don't want to scream it from the roof tops. I don't even want to have to whisper it in people's ears. I just want to walk into a room and have people look at myself and my family any think, wow, how do I become that. I have committed myself to losing weight, which I've lost around 80 lbs so far and want to go another 30lbs. I have slowly been updating my wardrobe. This started years ago when I worked for Red Wing Shoes and acquired several nice pairs of boots and Oxfords which I always loved how much just that simple change elevated my look. And I plan on continuing this trend to elevate myself. Your videos have helped me make some changes and have a little bit more confidence. My last vacation on our cruise, I added the pocket square to my look. I don't know how others perceived it, but I do know that it made me feel elevated.

I love all of these answers! Such a great video!! I legitimately thought that your #1 was going to be "confidence". But I like how you said "you need to give a damn". I honestly think they go hand in hand. I think 'giving a damn' exudes confidence. Apart from confidence, I just think it all begind with knowing yourself. Knowing one's self, who you are, your own history, heritage, culture, and place in your community/society (not necessarily from where others see you, but from where you see yourself and where you want to be), to be probably the most important thing along with confidence. But in knowing thyself, can we truly build a deep, genuine, self relying confidence that can't be denied by anyone. I also am a firm believer in all the "rules", and points you made. Your videos have definitely taught me a lot; and in learning all the "classics", the "rules", and the "trends", I've been able to build off of that and create my own well-fit style that I'm very much proud of. I've become no stranger to compliments, and I really have YOU and your videos to thank for that. Even though you and I have very different styles, and I may disagree with a few things you've said, I appreciate and respect your points of view, your knowledge, your wisdom, and ability to remain objective. I've grown much inspiration from your videos, learned what I could, and have created my own style from there; and I'll forever be grateful! Thank you. Please keep up the good work. I continue to look back at your videos for inspiration and new learnings. I genuinely can't thank you enough. PS: BEAUTIFUL Challenge Coin!!

Hi Antonio, I run a non-profit and for profit where our primary goal is to educate, train (in the principles of capitalism), care for, and economically empower underage girls that have been rescued from sex trafficking in Asia. I have taken to even elevating my casual dress because not only am I representing myself and my family but them as well. These are wonderful young ladies that are making incredible long term recoveries from the horrors they've experienced. One has become a licensed insurance agent, another became a beautician and opened her own shop, and two more have become assistant house moms. How could I not up my game to represent them better...

Hello Antonio, my name is José Luis and I am from Argentina. I have been watching your videos for years and I assure you that they helped me give my appearance very good touches of style. Since I was a child I was very careful with my personal appearance, I inherited it from my father who was a very elegant man. He never had any money, in fact he only had 2 pairs of shoes and wouldn't buy another unless the ones he had broke, but they always looked shiny as a mirror! My inspiration in youth was Duncan McLeod, the character from the Highlander series. From the first chapter I understood that his style was the one that made me feel more identified. The funny thing is that said character was about 38-40 years old and I was barely 20. But I tried to adapt that style to my body, age at the time and available money. Today, at 48, I think I have done a good job! Greetings from the land of the end of the world

I am from Argentina. I have a job in which I am in charge of people, and in the pandemic we started working from home. It's not that I'm a very sociable person, but in my country we spent almost a whole year in quarantine. And I am a person who if I don't exercise regularly I put on a lot of weight. A few months ago I looked at myself, I saw how I was dressed, and then I thought: I am a 34-year-old man, with a good job, dressed like a homeless person, with a child under two years old and I weigh 150 kilos. What example am I giving my son? So I started studying, losing weight and dressing the best I could. I've been trying to dress my best for less than a month. I have lost 15 kilos and I will continue. And I found your channel and others that helped me see how I want to see myself. It could be said that my motivation is that one day my son wants to be like me. And give the best possible example.

I like fashion and style because it is another way to express myself. For the most part, I am very intentional about the way I speak, dress, act, etc. and clothing is another channel through which I can send messages to the world about who I am and what I represent. Also, as a devout Catholic I believe that God gave us the gift of ourselves, and, as we say, our bodies are a Temple of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, it deserves to be clothed with dignity, literally and figuratively. I always appreciate gentlement, and ladies, who are evidently aware and concious, at a healthy balance, of their wellbeing - including style.

The end goal of dressing well really is all about increasing your confidence. Once you're confident you can accomplish a lot with greater ease. Also, it's very important to be fit. Too many guys wear nice clothes but they are built like a potato. Nothing compares to a physically fit guy with clothes that fit him really well. He's in a class by himself.

I'm one of those that take my faith and what I do pretty seriously. As a musician, I care about details and nuance and through that mode of self expression and service, I intend to bring excellence in all I can bring. This translates to what my attire on and off platform would be. Consistent, cohesive, and connected, all the while being as stylish as possible. Combat boots and well fitted tactical trousers are a constant because when it's go time, I don't want my outfit to slow me down. Topside is about looking sharp weather I have a guitar or mic in my hand, or weather I'm focused on the day to day. Monochromatic with a pop of maroon or forest green would be the best way to describe my look. I'm never seen outside of my home area without a collar. That's my look, thats my why. Now here's to what's next.

I've always been a pretty quiet guy, so I didn't get much socialization growing up. This ended up in a few confidence issues, and made talking to others seem intimidating. Don't get me wrong, I had friends, I just usually relied on others to initiate contact. Now that I'm half way through college, I've decided that I need to be more outgoing. For me, the first step in achieving that is looking the part. I don't need to dress up in a 3 piece suit to attend class, but moving from a graphic t shirt to something more stylish is definitely a good first step. It helps give that little extra confidence needed to initiate the conversation with someone else, and so far has helped a lot. Long story short, I give a damn because I am trying to reinvent myself into a more self confident and outgoing person
