Was the second Metalcore riff supposed to be labeled “nu-metal”? Cause it sounded like it

Does it rly matter? You like the riff. Who cares about the genre
@nikolasmokalis3425

@@billwick7840 it doesn’t, just an observation based on tropes that are more prevalent in some genre’s than others, which is why I liked the riff. Pete replied to another commenter confirming it was Nu-Metal so 🤷🏻♂️

I love the single humbucker style, saving for an ltd arctic metal here :3

Those guitars look cool, I think I’d swap out the white pickups and replace them with black ones though. Reminds me of a Metallica And Justice For All kinda vibe. Thanks for watching! :)
I love the Ibanez! I just bought an RG 570 BK Genesis Collection... Boom!!! One of the best guitars I've ever played in my life!!
There is a Bald british man on my phone screen, HI BALD BRITISH MAN!
nice riffage i've heard a little End of Heartache in there, nice guitar man, i have a black RG550 that's great, it was my first guitar
This is the reason I subscribed to your channel!!! I love this video! Guitar is absolutely awesome and it makes you a better songwriter, no doubt!! Suggestion for a future video? All those styles in one riff or 9 minute song! I would play that on repeat 24/7! My favorite riff is probably the metalcore and black metal riff! Keep up the good work, it is amazing and I hope to see this beast of a guitar again very soon!!
Awesome riffs, as always. My favorite was the first one. FYI, it’s easier & faster if you change the strings one at a time, and tune up each one.
Every single time I watch a video from you, which happens a lot, i’m always blown away by your tone! Your engineering skills are amazing, thanks for sharing🙏
Badass. It’s amazing how versatile your style of playing can be. Can you make a video of your picking techniques? I’m trying to learn how to downpick/alternate pick faster! Thanks Pete. Keep shredding on brother
Awesome Video as always! 🤘
That Metalcore Part Hit me the most. Awesome dude 👌🏻🙏🏻🤘🏻

Epic as usual pete 🤘🏼😈🤘🏼
They really are great guitars. I’ve managed to get three of them over the years as I’m an 80’s one pickup one volume control player. I’ve modded all my Ibanez guitars this way since the late 80’s. I’m on Instagram as danranger if you want to have a look at my butchered Ibby’s 🤘

I could not agree more. I love Ibanez prestige guitars, but also the simplicity of single pickup guitars, so when I saw they had made this back in the day I just had to have one. I managed to get one a few months ago and it's my favourite guitar. I will check out your Instagram.
That is a good looking guitar and love the fret markers.
This guitar always reminds me of your song Olympus Mons, one of my absolute favorites! You've got great taste in riff writing. and this video was no exception. Keep up the great work!
Man your playing it tight AF 🤘👍
I got his guitar for my 18th birthday and I absolutely love it! Absolute riff machine!
I bought the 2610Z back in 2008 (roughly) brand new. Still own it. One of the best guitars I have ever played. The only thing I changed was getting the height of the frets reduced so when I down tune the tone doesn't change (i press down hard). Keep up the great vids. P.S Greetings from Australia!!
Awesome guitar, awesome riffage !
The inlays are really cool
3:03 Let the bodies hit the flooooooooOOOOOOOOr
The breakdown part of metalcore sounded totally like The End of Heartache by Killswitch Engage. ... but all the riffs are badass with this guitar and Pete.
You play awesome man 🤘🤘

That ibanez looks metal af!! I have a white RG that i'm gonna mod for a metal machine, one pickup, one volume and a killswitch.
Beautiful Ibanez man, wow. I've looked at a lot of Ibanez guitars, seen a lot of rare ones I wish I could've bought, I know a lot of awesome Ibanez models, and I've seen models like this, but never with only one humbucker. That thing is sick. You'd have to be a fool to ever sell that guitar. Oh and the only thing that could make that more metal is if it had a reverse headstock. 😍 Oh yeah, and the black metal was my favorite. I'm a sucker for black metal, and that was a epic sounding riff. Also, blast beats.
Every time that I watch your vídeos, I've to tilt the screen haha. Nice work and riffs btw!
I hear some Face the Pain around 3:30 ;) awesome videos as usual
All of the metal-stylings you covered sounded awesome, but the Black Metal segment was stellar.

Pete Cottrell I grew up mostly on Arch Enemy, Carcass, COB and At the Gates. You nail the ATG really well, much like in your video 1 band 20 styles! Would love to see you take that riff you wrote in that video and turn it into a full song!
I have the later RG2610Z, with an EMTY pickup in it. I love it!
Wish they would do a new run of these, loooove the inlays and the 1 humbuckers, would be cool to get this with a hardtail too... ugh i long for it

Bro the first riff was straight fuckin fire my G good shit 😎🤘🏾🔥🔥
Damn are those lightning bolts on the fretboard? Looks amazing, hope it plays as well as it looks! I'll always be a sucker for trash but that metalcore breakdown was nasty
The breakdown part of the metalcore really reminded me of old As I Lay Dying, except mixed better. 😂
The second metal core riff definitely gave me killswitch engage vibe.
Awesome guitar-awesome Swedish death metal riff
Very cool guitar, i'm a great ibanez rg fan
Your Black Metal riffs always rips, i also really liked your trash riff which was tasty AF. Would you consider writing a full Black Metal track? I'm always left wanting more when you do these sorts of videos. Cheers from Norway, home of Black Metal.
That thrash was killer
I hope you consulted with Ola before playing the songs of his people! Every riff was insane! Amazing as always 🤘🏻

I came hoping for Black Metal and it was delivered! I also have a rare Ibanez, a mint Ibanez GIO GRG150LTD which was only made 2015-2016, came across a make offer on it last year on eBay, he accepted $75! Unbelievable!!
Metalcore was definitely more a nu-metal vibe Pete! Cross between Drowning Pool and Godsmack. Still very good though!
The third style was nu metal, right? You labeled it metalcore again.

Reminded me of Drowning Pools first album
Killer Axe! It looks ALOT like Dino Cazeres' old ibanez. Minus a string and reverse headstock.
That first riff absolutely slaps, dirt nasty stuff
Black metal makes sense. Looks a lot like an LTD Black Metal series guitar.
You should also change the settings on your amp to fit the style. For example - black metal needs way less bass, more treble and slightly more aggressive gain setting. Your tone most fits Metalcore...
Good video Pete who plays music.
Metalcore was two times !!!

You said it's a riff machine (and it is !) but does it sound good when you do leads/solos on it ? I think yes, but just to be sûre
1:02 Will It chugh? F..k yeah!!😂🤟🏻
The metal core riff the first one sounded kinda like something killswitch engaged would do
The metalcore one was perfect
Idea: Do metal riffs played in Robert Fripp's New Standard Tuning
KSE called, they want their riffs back
I have the exact same one ☝️ kept away in storage! Now you making want to bust it out
Oh Pete released a video of him riffing....LIKE!
Man! What is that drum plugin? Sounds nuts!
Curious because I'm not seeing your 6505MH on - what are you using for tones lately? Sick riffs though.
The 3rdv style was gobsmacked core
you can never EVER go wrong with an Ibanez ;)

Swedish death metal sounded the best to me today. All were great.
Why on earth did they discontinue this beast!!!
This is giving me serious miss may I vibes... Especially the thrash track
Basswood guitar + Seymour Duncan Full Shred
Black is rad \m/
I know you removed it because its too close. But have you thought about putting a slim knob from a pedal on that pot? Its what I did with an Ibanez of mine, looks better than a pot with no know and is still out the way.
Pete this should be your signature guitar because whenever I think of you this is the guitar that comes to mind. Really use this one more

Pete, I'm a big fan, what string gauges do you use abd do you change them based on what styles you're going to play??🍻🍻CHEERS
@peteplaysmusic

For this I used 11-52 set in Drop C, but the low String was actually a 56 so it was super heavy gauge. Sometimes I’ll change strings for a different style but most of the time I’ll stick to one set. Thanks for watching! :)
