    Being a 4th generation farmer in southern Saskatchewan i feel this was done on purpose for content purposes. Tracked tractors get stuck in like an inch of mud. They float and dont dig like tires do. This guy gave her all thw onions and purposely dug himself in. We use 65,000lb quad tracks to pull our 380,000lb air drills and fully loaded air carts. We farm in gumbo which is a mixture of hard clay and sand. When its wet its gooey and sticky. When you slip and spin on tracks, the tracks fill with mud and you go no where fast. We use 2.5" yankum kinetic ropes when we get stuck. We unhook, tractor drives itself out, we pull off an angle and get the cart out. Then come back and reseed after it dries when we do the sloughs. No need for a wrecker. Just some common sense.. happy planting

    I could see where you’re coming from if the tracks were wider but they’re really not it’s not nearly as much surface area to prevent it from sinking all the weight is just on those what I’m assuming 18-24 inch tracks when they should be running 36

  • @jeremymoreside1444

    @jeremymoreside1444

    @@Beans64209 18"-36" tracks all act the same in mud. Once your slippage is over 40%, regroup and halt the throttle before you dig a hole even you couldn't get out of. It's also very hard on frames and pins to be pulling out that deep. Best to excavate around so it's less wear on the fragile frame. *edit* Our Case quads are on 36" tracks. Our John Deere 2 track is on a 24" track. In mud they all act the same.

    About 35 years ago, we had an articulating FW60 Ford with a disk about that size behind it, buried beyond the axles. My father wanted to unhook it from the disk and pull just the tractor grandfather said no way. He proceeded to put together a set of block and tackles, then took our largest loader, slammed the bucket into the ground, and used the bucket as the pivot point, ran those block and tackles with cables, and using our other articulating Steiger, proceeded to pull that FW60 right out of the ground. Never underestimate the power of the six basic simple machines... sure shocked the heck out of my dad, he couldn't believe my grandfather made that work.

    There are heavy recovery outfits all over the country. This crew is amateur hour compared to some crews out there. The difference is most crews don't have the brains Heavy D does. The man is a marketing genius.

    @Alex420DT They may be amateurish, buy they are effective...the TV show gave Mr. Sparks a big boost as far as recognition...I like how they learn as they go...everyone starts somewhere...

    We used to use cross ties or long logs to make a CORDUROY ROAD that would hold up the weight to climb out but then you have three days cleanup getting the logs out and fix the holes.

    And that boys and girls is how its done. Having this Hett off road wrecker is a AMAZING piece of Equipment. I think there could be some modifications added to it that we use on the Big 100 Ton Miller Rotator Crane/Wrecker we have. That would definitely benefit it. But it would also make it heavier. And with that you lose some of the abilities of the trucks off road capabilities. Better outriggers and side winches that can be utilize those outriggers to redirect additional winch lines for yet more pulling power never hurts. And a set of BIG pin in spades off the back couldn't hurt either. Im a big fan of using Mechanical Advantage (Pulley and Snatch Blocks) to help pull from different angles, Including UP to help free things stuckbin the soft ground and mud. The Hydraulics of simple mud is amazing. Being able to pull upwards to free the vehicle, And towards dry undisturbed ground at the same time is a HUGE advantage.

    I just watched the story about Dave’s snowcat accident and it reminded me about my own near death experience. I always had faith in God but my surviving was purely a miracle and a reflection of the power of prayer. I was moved by that story and glad to see Dave survived. God Bless guys!

    When I was doing hydroplane racing around the country, we would keep wood blocks to pull the trailer up on(once lug nuts are loose) so no jack is ever needed to fix a flat.

    I don't think most non farm/rural people have any ideas the stuff farmers and ranchers have to deal with and how little it pays for most of them at the end of the day. Great video as always.

    Biggest thing to me is how capital intense farming is. Bank $1m in sales. Spend $950k on equipment, seed, labor. Hopefully have enough to eat. Only takes a 5% error in budget, crop productivity, etc and you're making zero money.
