@@frequencyoftruth2303 Considering Amazon is making a lord of the rings MMO and they have more than enough money to invest in building a solid MMO then it makes perfect sense for New World to be a test for them. They aren't some small company making an MMO. It's Amazon. They have money to spare so comparing it to other MMOs is disingenuous because they are in a very different situation

So revamp of the revamp starting zone

goes to show the game needed years of development to be in a good state (assuming NW:Aetternum is in a good state). Imagine if we got his version back in 2021.

Playing New World on release was such an amazing experience that I'll cherish forever. Watching the new revamped questline and it looks so much better than what we had that it makes me wanna go back and play the game again

I would've bet $1,000,000,000 we'd have like 5 opr maps by now... because DUHHH... but uhh, we just have the single one still... with literally NO improvements to reference. My mind is still blown by this alone, and there's like 1000 other GLARING omissions. I've never been more surprised, and confused.

would be awesome if they put the same effort from that new starting experience (even more dense, atmospheric, varied graphics of the surroundings) into the open world

You can already play NWA without an NDA, it's called New World. It's been in beta for years

Looks nice, nothing new that matters, my only take from this video is that we may finally get an option to change our character's appearances. I hope it has more changes than they showed in the video.

Will it be 60FPS on console? Some games on Xbox have an option for fidelity or performance, normally performance mode gets the 60fps. It looks much smoother than on my gtx1650 haha.

I wish they would just say that aeternum gets mega servers like gw2 and classes as well as reduced grind for refining skills. When they just release it on consoles with the same server structure and waiting qeues, empty servers and friends unable to play together... it would be a disapointment.

I hope they make enough money or hit whatever metrics they need to hit to be able to focus on consistent updates and content drops

No lie this is looking pretty good visually

I miss the early days so much.. there was activity all over the map the game felt so adventurous and the future was hopeful.. now it feels so abandoned and lifeless.

regarding if the story work they did was important. I personallhy wont' be re rolling a new tune to do the starting stuff. I"m a PC player that started in beta. However I will say it is important becuase I would hope even at end game the story will continue so we should get the good voice acting and animated sceense. So yea would of been nice if this was all in when we started playing but going forward it's nice they finally got it caught up.

Target lock needs to be smoother imo. A lot of camera shaking with movement in general, not only dodges, but crouching is still hard af.

However…Visuals and sounds = 11/10. After 2 months of a break I already miss this game, although I’m heavily disappointed by AGS after playing this game for 1.6k hours. The past 6 monthsI I tried WoW, BDO, FF14, GW2, ESO…had a real marathon, but I can’t get that special feeling when being ingame. This game is special, irrespective of the bugs and missing content.

Same i think im almost on 3k hours and i just miss it soo bad been playing a bit off ark and 7d2d cause there is just nothing like new world (if it had infinite storage i would have prob kept playing it but only pve😂 or if there was a single player option hahaha)

In the past 3 years they have reworked the story quest 3 times. Nice. Meanwhile i can have only 1 out of 3 houses

Storyline, animations, sonds etc is good, but what all of you would say when MSQ ends. 100 hours of smooth animated quests and what's next? My main question as almost 3k hours player is what will all of you do next? I would be glad if AGS will work on events, dungeons, trials. But for now we still have bugged events with no difference from last year, bugged animations, 40GB patches and 15 GB patches to patch 40 GB patches and a lot of promices that doesn't became reallity.

ps5 is not a machine to run 4k 120fps.. even if that was the case the texture quality would be very low

1-60 is the best part of the game. Also Greatsword the way its hold is kinda weird. They could change it to be closer to Dragons Dogma or Elden Ring - Thats how you hold 2handed sword

Yes they went from banning everyone to shutting them down, moved to discord and are banning everyone there. Why listen to the players when you’d have to work harder, easier to just silence them.

Great introduction scenes, that is something they have to work on because it is the strength of the game. At least they know that. The visual and sounds will hook people into the game and hang on to it, just like it did with us all PC players. The next step is to learn how to work and make your weaknesses better. Maybe AGS have found this out now in Aeternum. Hopefully. The Running looks great now, the jumping looks promising for the new and improved jumping puzzles all around the world - looking forward to that if that was true from the june announcement. The Eyes looks like they have been blind since they got on the Island or something. Maybe it is realistic ;) The thing with working with perfection of stuff is art-related. And games like this is very much like art for the creators. It is hard to leave something you either don't find being perfect for your sign as well as it is fun and addictive to sit and fine tune stuff you see can be changed. Starting to work with new content for some developers is boring because you work with everything from the ground up again, but if that is the case they should not be in this business (mmo). Better to work with just regular RPG's then.

Is this just another starting experience revamp or is their new content across the world? I miss playing the game at times but both times I dug my heels in, there just wasn’t enough content at the end game and once a server starts dying it can go quickly.

It will take 3 more years to fix all the facial animations and fish eyes in close up scenes, lmao

"Should New World really spent time on these cutscenes and animations?" - Just rephrase that - would it make sense to make a whole new system to support that for LOTR? A very narrative driven IP... if the answer is yes, than yes... it makes sense to put it in New World, the test bed for that game.

8000 hours in, Ill probably check it out when it comes out as I quit a few months ago. Funny thing though, in the first 5 minutes you know more about the story line in this game then I ever learned. Maybe I'll pay attention this time.

I'm afraid this is nothing more than a technology test and practise run for the consoles in preparation for the forthcoming Middle Earth MMO.

i feel like the new NEW starting experience was not needed, the cut scenes dont look good. the ONLY thing i tihnk they did right was adding classes for new players so people can start with what they wanted.

@BagginsTV i think they changed camera and FOV to suit better ARPG style of gameplay rahter than MMO. You may not be able to zoomout like you could. P.S. Action combat games are best played when camera is very close to char

So, can we disable the new camera in questing? It just takes you away from your character, I dislike it.

If I wanted a solo game with a story and character cut scenes there are WAY BETTER options that New World can't even really compete with, its really too bad they pivoted like this.

I mean...nothing wrong with a new cool starting experience. But that's just it. ALL of this is for the new player experience. There is barely anything for the people who have been loyal for the past 3 years.

You know I think my biggest issue is that you are locked into a server. I have no issue with fallout76 which is more a lobby game that only allows 24 people a lobby because I can always swap lobby to play with friends. If they cant expand the server space, which looks like they really cant then they should pivot more into a lobby game using servers like lobbys like BDO and just let you swap between them on a cooldown to servers that aren't full atm. Last time I played this game my friend had to roll on another server and then I was left with the decision to I play with friends I made or the ones I got to join. It doesn't feel good as a social game in modern times. This would also solve the issue of dieing servers. They would have to figure something out for pvp but if BDO can do it with node wars and lobby servers then no reason it cant work for this game. Unless there is alot of new content that is super appealing I just cant come back to invest time into this game into the server system changes. Thinking about the fact your locked in with only 3k people and if any of them get bored or quit then your server dies and you need to hope you got a swap coupon, I just cant. Allow swapping for free to servers that arent' full on a cooldown or I probably won't come back, but if you do that then I have no reason not to invest in this game because I know Ill always be able to find people playing by a lobby swap. I still play BDO to this day myself that system totally works for me.

Wish you could make a private password server just so you can make a little more legit game just to make a friendly server with less toxic cheating😮

I hope this saves the game because there is no other game like it with these graphics. I will be starting a character when it comes out. There is no point in playing right now. Let’s pray they hired devs that know how to fix bugs and a marketing team that cares about the players! 😅

I have 3200 hours into the game. It just feels like a betrayal, the way that the game developers are treating its remaining players. We’ve stuck it out through all the crap, the bugs, dupes and this is what we get… Us remaining few were the true believers.

Can’t expect devs to keep up with new content without any income. NW should’ve gone subscription and pump out more content that way.

Hopefully that after the console release they will put all of their staff to work for new contents. Fingers crossed.

No. Its broken foundation. They should rather continue work on the foundation. Like Character MOvement system, Monster AI, staggering system expanding, More dynamic monster attacks and such.

Is this game sub based or F2P? I think it looks like a lot of fun. I’ve been waiting for a really good MMO for console. I’ve tried ESO several times, but no matter how hard I’ve tried, I can not get into that game at all.

Well, thats a completely new start. Still on Steam is overwhelmingly negative so that counts for something LOL.

I fully understand the economic pressures of the Gaming industry, AGS needed to pivot due to poor player retention. The problem is AGS decision making is why player retention was poor and in this pivot they seemed to have failed to learn from their past mistakes. In addition AGS made the calculated decision to LIE to its existing loyal player base about ""roadmaps/New Content" and even worse verbally make it clear they are abandoning these loyal players entirely, turning potential ambassadors of the game (remaining players knowledge base and love of game) into adversaries, who now will take to social media to make their feelings known. A mistake which will impact sales. I am quite sure as October draws near... hundreds of content creators will put forth videos detailing the good/bad and ugly of NW and AGS. The worst thing a developer can be accused of is knowing lying to its playerbase as that destroys all trust. How much this effects the Console launch ... we will have to wait to see... if anyone reading this now even cares by then.

You're right. It's too little too late. There are too many other games coming out between now and October. No one is really going to spend as much time playing New World as the current people that are still playing. Which is < 3k players and they're all slowing going else where. No one wants to re- level another character. The content that they are giving everyone will be fun for the first few weeks then it will die down. AGS doesn't push content out very fast. So more people will leave. History will repeat itself. I've been down this road before. I'm not coming back to the game but I'm curious to hear everyone's feedback and see if the game improves.
