    Got some switch from the vendor you mentioned...ended up with a field that was half switch and half foxtail. There had never been foxtail in this field prior to the planting. Looks like I got a batch he didn't reject. His brassica seed on the other hand was excellent.

    what are the steps to follow to correct when switch is not thick enough - from all videos combined I am guessing I would mow to max height of mower and add more switch seed to standing patch????

  • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

    @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

    It may be thick enough, but depressed by weeds. On an older stand like that...1.5 pints of 2-4D per acre for broadleafs. Or 5-7 ounces per acre of quincloric. Always Simaxine prior to spring greenuo. I would then add switch after the simazine and after the 2-4D,, if actually needed.

    I understand not adding food to screening. What if I’m screening a logged area of tree tops. Just adding to the bedding, and add food there? I’m not going there. It’s adding food to bedding. And it’s diverse. Am I wrong? Over thinking???

  • @shawnb789
    @shawnb7893 жыл бұрын

    I tried the Egyptian wheat this past year. I'm sure it has its place but I'll most likely not use it again at my farm. The stalks were too thick and I didn't put cross overs in until it was late so the deer didn't like trying to cross it into the food at all. It really hurt my farm this year as far as hunting the late season. I've got a bunch of cave in rock established and I frost seeded some Shawnee late Oct so I'm anxious to see how it does. Thanks Jeff

    Morning Jeff.. another great video!! I have a well developed switchgrass area, about 4 acres total, that borders my road on the south and my linear food plot and woods on the north... my problem is that this year ( and other times over the years), a early, heavy(8-10”) wet snow, with no thawing has left the switchgrass packed down for the winter!! The food plot has been completely expose since December 10th or so... any ideas on a short/long term fix!?? Thanks

    I'm guessing that you didn't have lack of precipitation on your list because most whitetail properties are back east where there is plenty of snow and rain. I studied and followed your frostseeding switchgrass plan verbatim, but nothing grew, apparently because we don't get much spring or summer rain here in Central Wyoming. Going to try drought tolerant conifers next, but that's going to be expensive.
